  1. The bullpen is usually the hardest part of the game for a manager to learn to negotiate. Overall, I do agree that Rocco has done well with his pen. He had some early bumps, but he appears to have learned from them. I would think that he'll learn from letting guys sit too long without game action too. That job gets a bit more difficult when the starters are as effective as they have been. Talk about good problem to have. He's a rookie manager, there will be some learning involved. Also, congrats to Smeltzer. Heck of a debut. I look forward to seeing what your future holds!
  2. I'm guessing that Jeffress is appreciative one way or another.
  3. I think the main difference in this example is that the there is a vast chasm between the Yankees not being dominant and the Twins being largely irrelevant. In that time the Yankees have lost 4 ALCS's whereas the Twins have 3 playoff appearances with zero wins to show for it. I agree that they get a lot more attention than they should, but I think it silly to think that the two teams are even in the same conversation success-wise. The Yankees have a prolonged string of success whereas the Twins have a prolonged string of the exact opposite.
  4. Counsell said that he wasn't injured in any way and passed all medical tests. It does look like he may have gotten his foot caught and tweaked a knee as he went down, but that's purely speculation. I have to imagine something like that would shake a guy up. Can't blame him for trying to calm down before walking off.
  5. Agreed. These are the types of games that I'd like to see them in more though, but on the winning end obviously. I'd like to see them in more close game situations late in games. I won't complain about the big game to game run differentials, but that's not likely to be what it's going to be like come October.
  6. I'm not fluent in it and I've never been to France, but when this happens to me I'm most definitely speaking French...
  7. 1. Like spycake said, weekday gates usually open 90 minutes prior to first pitch. I'm not sure if the holiday changes that. 2. Short answer, no. Long answer...There are metal detectors and security screening at every gate. Your best chance, as someone else said, would be a baby bottle. There are size restrictions on milk and juice containers for kids and I've seen them sniff check a juice container once. The dad wasn't exactly doing a good job of being inconspicuous about it and the container was 2/3 full. 3. If you're going with the red, white and blue motif, may as well go patriotic on Memorial day and go with stripes! Enjoy the game!
  8. Not at all. I've been saying that since he first came up...and said it more when he was struggling. With his speed, that's a weapon that should be utilized to help his overall offensive game. Having that in his back pocket can only help.
  9. I want nothing to do with Astudillo at SS, let alone on the regular. Arraez should go where he can get every day reps. That won't be with the big league club much longer. He can come back up if the need arises and we have a little better idea of what we're getting. But he needs to be playing every day, which will soon be AAA.
  10. While I'm definitely encouraged, I do think there is regression to be had. That said, this division is so bad that I do expect them to win the division relatively easily at this point. I don't really think that they're as good as their record indicates, but they can only play those teams that are on the schedule when they're on the schedule. Even if they do win 100+ games, I'm still not going to be sold that they're truly one of the big boys unless they go out and beat the big boys in a playoff series. Their pitching margin for error is far too thin and I don't think it sets up well for a playoff series. All that said, I'm most certainly enjoying the ride and hope that I'm wrong on the pitching. The bats and defense certainly play as a contender, so it's all about how far the pitching will take them.
  11. By moving to Tuscon or by moving to Tuscon in June?
  12. It's time for you to fly...so that you can study up on them!
  13. I believe that is correct, but they were unsure if he was going to be there in time to actually play so he wasn't in the lineup. I don't know if he was available to PH if needed.
  14. The run the starters have had over the last several weeks probably aid that quite a bit. Only having to cover an inning or two per game and not needing to use the weaker options much helps metrics considerably.
  15. What took so long? sheesh... Had to be done though. He's a train wreck right now.
  16. There's some really bizarre base running by the Angels going on this series.
  17. I liked this team better when games weren't so interesting.
  18. This team is infinitely more interesting with a productive, and healthy, Buxton.
  19. Ausmus doesn't like to use his challenges. I'm still surprised that he didn't challenge the Ohtani play at home last night. No reason not to at that point.
  20. Awesomeness is what you saw. Pure, unadulterated awesomeness!
