  1. Hey, Eddie didn't swing at the first pitch!
  2. Yeah, but Keuchel was drafted in the 7th round, so there are a lot of teams that could have had him. And Trout was the 25th pick... The Angels had the 24th pick as well and they used that on Randal Grichuk... so, even the Angels technically missed on Trout with their first pick that year.
  3. I was trying to answer my question on Danks by looking at the White Sox website. I didn't get an answer but I found this little gem: So, hopefully he keeps up his August performance. Also, I feel like I need to take a shower. I just feel gross for looking at the White Sox website.
  4. Most likely rotation scenario that I can imagine to start the year: 1. Hughes 2. Santana 3. Gibson 4. Nolasco 5. May AAA to start: 1. Berrios 2. Duffey Meaning Milone is either in the bullpen or dealt. After a few weeks, around May 1st, Nolasco is either hurt again or moved to the bullpen and Berrios is moved into the rotation. Duffey will be shuffled back and forth from AAA to keep him stretched out and replaces any pitcher that gets hurt throughout the season. This is just what I see happening, but I could be entirely wrong.
  5. Wasn't Danks originally suppose to start this game? I thought I read that in the game thread for the first game. Did this change, or incorrect information?
  6. I'm assuming that plate was on some sort of Fiat.
  7. Hicks qualifies for the playoff roster. Per ESPN playoff roster Primer: http://espn.go.com/blog/new-york/mets/post/_/id/109921/full-primer-on-playoff-roster-eligibility It's good to see Hicks have a good game right before he rejoins the team.
  8. Jepsen is looking really good right now, and the fact that he'll be around next year is good news as well. I wouldn't call the Twins a winner in this trade until we see how good Hu and Tapia end up playing for the Rays. So far though, I'm really liking the trade.
  9. Well done, Parker. This was a fantastic article. Sano has just been amazingly fun to watch this year. Let's hope he continues to hit like this in a Twins uniform for many years to come.
  10. That appears to be the same substance that he tested positive for that got him the 80 game ban earlier this year. Apparently, some people never learn, or the Twins should help him find some sort of treatment facility... or both.
  11. That is a great list of players. I'm glad to see both Turner and Garver going. It should be fun to read about all of these guys. Not surprised they are sending Walker, as he definitely deserves to go. Let's hope he can continue to crush baseballs in the AFL.
  12. Pictured: Chicago White Sox rotation after the Twins beat up on them all weekend
  13. I would say that the Twins could use a guy hitting like Abreu hitting anywhere in the lineup. He's a pretty special talent. There aren't a ton of guys like that in the league, so having basically two on the same team would be pretty amazing. I'm looking forward to this series. Then again, I always look forward to beating up on the pale hose.
  14. http://s3.amazonaws.com/rapgenius/leftorium.jpg As a fellow lefty, I have to love a sport that really appreciates that lefties are wonderful people. It just so happens that I want these three particular lefties (Sale, Rodon and Danks) to fail miserably in the three days to come as the Twins pound the pitches thrown their direction all over the field, sending the White Sox back to the windy city to where they can cry in their deep dish pizzas and hot dogs.
  15. YES! I knew liking baseball would help me out some day.
  16. If you get the job, I'd like to apply for an assistant GM if you'd let me. My qualifications: 1. Also a Twins Daily member 2. Also watch a fair amount of baseball. 3. I have an engineering degree and MBA, so hiring me would look like you are trying to get a wide array of ideas coming into baseball (science and business!) 4. I've never been to Seattle, but everything I've heard makes me think that I'd enjoy it there. 5. I'm also a fan of Soundgarden and have seen the Melvins in concert several times, so the office would be filled with some killer tunes. 6. I own a decent rain coat, so I would be able to keep the precipitation off of myself. 7. I'll be able to give you honest opinions about the numerous different craft beer varieties from the area. 8. I'm good enough 9. I'm smart enough 10. Doggon it, people like me. Thank you for your time, and I look forward to hearing your response.
  17. Just a guess, but it was opening weekend of the Minnesota State Fair. That probably reduced the Twins game crowd by quite a bit. It's good to hear that some of these guys are finishing out the season strongly. Chargois is really starting to look a strong bullpen guy. I'm glad that he's finally looking healthy.
  18. Ugh. Either way, it doesn't sound like fun. I'd probably go with playing the Yankees, I guess. If you played Toronto, that would pretty much guarantee that they start Price, who has stomped us forever. I feel like the Yankees have less reliable starting pitching, so there would be a toss up of who you would face. I think the odds are somehow better in New York.
  19. Well, the Astros like to strike out a lot themselves. So, maybe they'll make the Twins pitching look pretty good. The Twins are also playing very well at home this season. So, hopefully that bodes well for the home team!
  20. I agree. I was just pointing out that there were other opportunities in the game for the Twins to score some runs. That was just an example. It's tough for me to get too down on the team after that loss. A seven game winning streak if tough to get. A seven game winning streak entirely on the road is even harder. That's a feat the Twins have never done. It just means that Twins get to start another winning streak tonight!
  21. Leave it to the guy in Canada to tell us about the French language.
  22. I would say there were other opportunities in that game as well. If Sano didn't strike out after Mauer's double in the first, there is another potential run that didn't get added. Yes, Sano's shot should have been a HR, and most probably would have at pretty much any other stadium. It's one of the things about baseball, sometimes the ball drops in your favor, and sometimes it doesn't. It is true the the Twins need more out of their starters. If they did, maybe the pull out win #7 in a row. Hopefully they stay in the groove overall and comeback with some wins against the Astros.
  23. My understanding is that everybody wants a team in Montreal but nobody wants to pay to build a stadium. If you find someone to do that, it might happen. If you find someone to build a new stadium in a better location in the Tampa Bay area, then that's where it'll be. I think Montreal is mainly being discussed to scare the state of Florida to pitch in for a new stadium. Like how contraction of the league was brought up when the Twins wanted a new stadium.
  24. http://totallyfailinglondon.org.uk/wp-content/uploads/2015/01/smoke-mirrors-effusion-1.jpg Just kidding... sort of. There is a lot of talent on this team. It seems like someone is always picking up the team. I really don't know who should start if it comes down to that. It probably will be whoever is in line next. Hopefully, Hughes comes back and starts pitching well again, but I'd almost have Gibson, Pelfrey (eek) or Duffey pitch that game. It's probably going to be at Yankee stadium, so I'd want the guy that is most likely to induce a ton of ground balls.
