  1. It's an interesting way to try to keep the smaller markets involved. It looks like the Cardinals and Royals didn't get one this year, which I think is the first time neither team has got one since this system was put in place. I'm curious if you had any ideas on how to improve the system. I don't think it's a perfect formula, especially given that teams like the Cardinals (which never seem to really have cash flow issues) can get these picks.
  2. Whoa there! Let's not drag video games into this. But yeah... people are proposing some really lop-sided trades and expect that they are fair. Every week there is a live conversation on mlbtraderumors, and there are a bunch of people that propose all kinds of trades that are mainly ridiculous. It's good to know that it's not just Twins fans that do this. It's usually a good read too.
  3. That's it. Bed time. I'll just have to read about the Twins epic comeback tomorrow.
  4. We need vodkadave to come in here and tell us that Plouffe is cooked!
  5. Or mustache wax. http://blogs.denverpost.com/style/files/2013/02/12073123-rollie-fingers.jpg
  6. That works, but it it tends to reflect light back into the umpire's eyes. So that one is dicey as well. Best thing to do is just add a lot of "necessary" sun screen to your face that just happens to soak the beard.
  7. Ooh. No. You would never get pine tar out of a beard. I know from personal experience.
  8. That was not a very fun half inning.
  9. ftfy.
  10. Does that mean we're going to start fracking on Pluto?
  11. The only player to throw a no hitter while on LSD... that we know of. Dock Ellis
  12. I'm just going to go with my favorite player during the 1987 World Series (I was not quite 5 years old)... Randy Bush

  14. The new format was better overall. It was actually pretty fun to watch. There were a few buzzer bating homers, which were a lot of fun. There weren't a ton of reaction shots because the camera had to cut to the next pitch/hit right away. They were throwing the next pitch as soon as the last one landed. I would say that this new format gives a slight advantage to players that can hit line drives that fall just over the wall. Although you might miss out on "bonus" time that way. It's hard to really call it bonus time when every player got it, but it was a fun concept. I like the new format overall though.
  15. Well, that's why they play 162, right? I'm going to tomorrow's game, so hopefully Verlander will continue his trend of being horrible and I'll see the Twins beat up of the motor city kitties!
  16. You, sir, are clearly some sort of Photoshop magician.
  17. 6? Oh wait...you're not talking to me.
  18. Please do me a personal favor and never stop making amazing pictures like this.
  19. Dick just pronounced Gose as "Gooze" or "Güz". I like that pronunciation.
  20. Well, lets hope the tigers bring in their bullpen, or this game is over. If they do, I still give the Twins a 50% chance to win.
  21. Are you suggesting that Soylent Green... is people!?!?!?!
