Yeah, my first thought when I saw he had that was "they have this doctor hanging around with only one patient and decided to try to get their money's worth out of him."
I think Legion ball play by NFHS rules, and aggressive, intentional contact is normally rules malicious contact, an automatic ejection. If you lower your shoulder and run into a catcher or other fielder, it's an easy call.
Bite your tongue or we will get Bill Smith back. My parents occasionally play cards with his mother, and while it was fun for them to have the insider contact, I prefer they just hear second hand old war stories rather than get inside info again. (They aren't big enough fans to ask the right questions anyway.)
Who could it possibly be? None of the other MLB teams can offer him anything. Korea and Japan won't want him because he's not ready - the source of his value is his potential plus years of team control, and they won't have the latter. He was a senior and can't go back to college. An indy league can't afford him. Edit: I guess the Twins had to negotiate in order to be able to re-draft him, but giving more than slot to a guy who had no such leverage with the teams just above or below them looks like bad negotiating.
He might want to ask politely, because a response is pretty easy to come by: Year ERA G GS IP H R ER BB SO ERA+ FIP WHIP 2016 6.43 26 26 133 167 103 95 32 114 66 4.73 1.496
Who is the better prospect at SS (or as a position player in general), Lewis or Greene. I'm not crazy about taking a prep player at 1-1 who didn't destroy high school pitching.
Under the circumstances those walks were pretty disappointing. Everything's falling in or flying out - swing the bat! (Much more fun to complain about that than to have had the bats stay home and still have Gibson pitching.)
I don't have the fun with numbers trademark around here, but these numbers are actually fun. Twins' Avg/OBP/SLG/OPS tonight: ,571/.588/.918/1.506 Happy extrapolating.
For the record here, yes, I would have preferred Greene. I thought he could have been elite at either position, while with McKay I was skeptic at both positions.
I thought it was more likely he would be mediocre at everything but wasn't likely to be truly special at any one thing even if he focused on the one thing. I really didn't want a 1B at 1-1 unless he was a once in a generation sure-thing hitting talent.
