  1. No, actually it doesn't. At least I am not convinced of that and lean more towards 'No, it doesn't' from the trainers I've talked to about this at my tennis club. That's why this injury is concerning because I think it is a SEPARATE issue from any weight concerns. It would seem like logical dots to connect, but the more people I talk to the more I am convinced that the weight has nothing, absolutely nothing, to do with the cause and/or recovery of this, and not aiding and abetting. And it's very concerning. That's not to say that there isn't/shouldn't be concern about Sano's weight maintenance, because of course that could and likely does have an impact on his longevity in baseball and toward how he plays in the field. Of course the team and Sano need to work together to find a way to manage it. Of course there should be concern ... and I think there is, from the team and the fans and likely Sano, too. (Don't know.) But I also see hints and implications that it isn't being managed due to attacks on Sano's character ... that he doesn't take it seriously, that he doesn't care, that he's lazy and doesn't try ... and on and on. Sometimes for some people, weight is a very, very, VERY difficult thing to manage. And with Sano, I'm sure even more so because the dude is just outright BIG.
  2. I'm actually more concerned that his injury and longer recovery have nothing to do with his weight.
  3. And on top of that, we don't know how this decision was made ... both to not renew DM's contract and how to tell him. I'm sure Falvey had a say. I'm sure he weighed all the opinions and evaluations and had a part in the discussion ... to what extent is unknown; he could have simply 'signed off' on the decision or could have had a deciding vote to non-tenure the contract. But who did he rely on most for information as to how and what DM was going about his job? Probably from Steil, I would think. And who did Steil get his information from? What criteria was he using for his evaluations and who had input into that? Who else would provide that information? Maybe other MiL coordinators? I'm not sure the hierarchy, but Falvey received his information most likely from Steil, and there was something there that wasn't falling into place. So, in the end a decision was made. Did Steil agree with the decision? Did he think it wrong? Was he the one recommending it? How much discussion was there, if there was any? We don't know and I'm not sure how detailed an answer one is entitled to. And whether or not one thinks Falvey should have made the phone call, maybe he should have, or perhaps the one to best do it is the one who has worked with DM the most, the one who had the best relationship with him, the one who was his boss. I don't know ... but I don't think this was classless in how it was handled one iota. Maybe not the right decision for some or in the end, but I don't think it was wrong or classless, either. And if Falvey had been the one to deliver the news, maybe DM would have called out Pohlad for not delivering the news? Again, don't know. And don't care, at this point. This kind of thing isn't easy to do and isn't easy to take. And second guessing doesn't make it better, either.
  4. If the Twins do that, then yes, I'd say they were a playoff team.
  5. Ummm ... yeah ... hurricane Maria just passed by there, or is about to ... I think at a cat 4 or 5.
  6. And not only that, it was to FRIKKEN RIGHT FIELD! He NEVER hits to right field, he's incapable of hitting to right field. The only thing that would make it better was if he did it on the first pitch, but that's never happening. But then, who knows ... he never hits to right field!
  7. I missed it ... been too busy with other things ... but had to come by anyway to say ... MAUER!!!!
  8. Well, he wasn't in this neighborhood ... no one was ... http://www.cnn.com/videos/us/2017/09/12/hurricane-irma-immokalee-florida-griffin-orig-js.cnn
  9. This is not about Hunter. Back on topic, please. There is no correlation between the two.
  10. Well, not completely disagreeing ... but we should see some results of their thinking/plan this off-season and into next season. I'm not saying that if we don't win the WS next year they are toast ... but I think we should start seeing results, one way or another.
  11. Obviously. So was just helping you out.
  12. Yes ... looks like they are done with their evaluations and have given everyone a chance and are now making their decisions. While we can disagree about whether or not Falvey/Levine should have/shouldn't have been the ones to deliver the news, and despite some of our personal feelings about Mientkievics, this is what happens in any business, including baseball, when new people take over. They evaluate, retain some, not retain others, institute changes in policy and long term strategy, move forward. If employees don't fit into this new strategy, well, that's that, as impersonal as it is. While I'm hesitant at this time to give Falvine a 'yea' or 'nay,' (the proof is in the pudding and I'm being patient for results that may not happen until next year), and may not always agree with their decisions with the here and now, it does appear that they have a long-term plan and are executing. Again, no 'yea' or 'nay' from me until I see into this off-season and next season.
  13. Thanks for the update ... on you as well as the Instructs. Keep us updated, if/when you can.
  14. Yep ... was mentioned in this thread ... http://twinsdaily.com/topic/27527-twins-cut-ties-with-eric-rassmunsen/?do=findComment&comment=680891
  15. Mod note: a reminder to everyone, whether or not you agree with these changes, whether you are celebratory or disdainful, please be respectful of one another and those who have been let go.

  17. I just don't get this ... I really don't. I mean I do, but I don't. How can any judge find this guy not guilty? I wonder if they had charged him with 2nd degree murder if that would have changed the verdict? I just don't get this.
  18. Yep ... I've said this for years ... if we don't have a planet to live on, nothing else matters. And, frankly, I don't know why that's not at the top of everyone's list. But, to each his/her own.
  19. I have a suggestion for what Minnesota town you should have in your next thread ... I'll PM or text it to you.
  20. This is what happens when posters get a hold of things before Brian's editor can take a look.
  21. Mod note: Please move on as this is turning into bickering. Someone said something. Someone disagreed. And someone disagreed with the disagreeing. You all have made your points so let's not sidetrack this thread any further.
