    I could have this wrong, but what I think bird is saying is that the scouts and scouting that Ryan had in place before Smith remained in place during Smith, and that kudos to Smith on his international signings were due to the efforts of others as much as it was to Smith and probably more so. But I could have that wrong. As for me and my opinions on Ryan and Smith ... whatever. Seriously. Whatever. These are individuals that are no longer with the organization so I don't really care. Yes, we are or aren't where we are partly due to the work that was done before, but it's work that is done and water under the bridge, both the good and the bad of it. Can't change it, so whatever. I'm more concerned with moving forward as there is work yet to be done.

    About 1/3 of the residents have evacuated. Whether or not my parents place gets flooded from the surge will vary on a lot of things. I should have boxed up a few things before I left and brought them to a neighbor's on an upper floor, but so it goes. My Dad's care facility is in the mandatory evac zone and the staff are seeing all the residents moved to another facility in Sun City.

    My Mom was supposed to return to Florida on Monday ... that's not happening, either ... not sure when she'll get back, but with my Dad still there, she will try to get back as soon as possible.

    Your mom is in Barrington still, yes? Dad is in Pacifica, not far from there.

    My Mom is back in Chicago with me. This was a planned trip long before all of this. Fortuitous it was, as to try and get plane tickets this week to leave would have been near impossible. Dad stayed behind. He is in a memory care facility and moving him just wasn't possible, by any means. But they are well equipped, well prepared and he will be in good hands. This facility has been through hurricanes before. And if this one stays it course up the east coast, it won't be as bad for them there.

    On my way back to Chicago from Florida. I've been in Florida before when there have been hurricane watches and warnings, but nothing like this. Everyone was taking this one very seriously. Went out to eat last night and the restaurant had half its windows boarded up with 'Open' painted on the boards. Water was already gone, although the news reported that some of the major retailers were having more supplies shipped in. There are a few among us who reside in the area, hope they check in with us. My best friend is a volunteer with hurricane emergency management so she will be bunkered down at a shelter somewhere in Ft. Lauderdale helping.

    My return flight to Chicago is Thursday. My mom will fly out with me. Dad will be hunkered down at his care facility. They are all prepared. Didn't get to the game tonight. Was pouring rain and see that it started a couple hours late. Be safe!
