  1. I just can't bring myself to cheer against the Royals pitcher ... you do the math. And that is all I have to say.
  2. We decided to add a couple of procedural points, so it's not exactly procedure free. It is still first come, first served. And Chief will still be supplying as many inane comments as he can. And it's still 'no holds barred' as Tom said. However ... so it's clear and fair and easy for all when starting and/or participating in game threads and/or their creation ... 1. Only start game threads for the day of the game that the thread is for. If you want to get a jump on it and post it at midnight (central time), fine. But only start a game thread on the day of the game. It gets very confusing, otherwise. And as always, double headers are one thread, if and when they occur. 2. Please include the date and time in the thread title. We archive the threads and having the dates in the titles keeps things better organized for access and future reference. And please, if you want to use a time from another time zone, please include the central zone time in parenthesis. Thanks! And go game threads! And threaders!
  3. I wouldn’t want to order any of those. Ever.
  4. I'd like to just highlight this ... please include the date and time in the thread title. Other than that, no holds barred.
  5. We seem to be missing a 1B and the other team a LF. Is there something new in baseball that I missed? Add 'C.J. Cron 1B' after Rosario for the Twins, and 'Jake Bauers LF' for Cleveland.
  6. Listen to Bach, not Fox! Has a good ring to it ... as long as it's Johann Sebastian Bach. My official portrait with the CSO has me looking out over the top of a score. While you can't see what the score is, it's a score to J.S. Bach's St. Matthew Passion. Pablo Casals started and finished every day by playing Bach. Well, actually playing ... not putting something on the phono. CBD products. I'm convinced. Have been trying it on the arthritis in my foot ... omg ... a God send! The pain has been almost non-existent. And this from one who has been walking a minimum of 3-4 miles a day for the past three weeks. One day I walked 11.4 miles. Thank you, CBD oil! Thank you!
  7. Heh, no. Must’ve been a subconscious reference.
  8. Agreed. But spammers are spammers, and they be gone.
  9. Read the now locked adopt-a-prospect page. It will answer your questions. You can also send a PM to the author, who is Donny's dad. http://twinsdaily.com/topic/28928-donny-breek-2018/
  10. As long as dummies exist, I will always have a job. I will always have a job.
  11. These yokels are so helpful, aren't they? Go to the Twins Talk forum. See that black rectangle in the upper right of the forum? (see photo below) It says 'Start New Topic'. Click on that. Once you do, you'll see this: Fill it out. In the 'Topic Title' space, that's where you put "Game Thread: Twins v whomever, the date and time" ... or something like that so that people know ... this is that day's game thread. Then fill out the body of your topic. It can include anything to get the game going ... lineups, pitchers, weather ... whatever you think is necessary to get the game thread going. When you are finished, click on the box that says 'Post New Topic' and voila! You've posted a game thread.
  12. I’ve missed your blogs! Thank you for this, as both a musician and a Twins fan.
  13. Well I’m out of this discussion because apparently my opinion amounts to ‘buying in and selling out.’ Thanks, all.
  14. Bernie has been in Congress for 30 years ... 30. He's prided himself in being outside the parties, which is fine, I have no issues if he wants to be an independent. But he also couldn't work with others to get anything done because he doesn't really know how to compromise ... it was all or nothing. So ... now he wants to be president. But he's an independent and knows he has to be a member of one of the two major parties in order to gain any real consideration, so he joins the Democratic party ... just to run. If that's not self-serving I don't know what is. And then his supporters are angry that he doesn't get the same support ... it's because he's not really a Democrat and eschewed even being one for all those years in Congress. Why should Democrats feel comfortable supporting him ... just because he tells us we should? Where has he been all these years? Yes, he votes with the Democrats on many issues, but he really has failed in all that time in building strong working networks with others, especially within the party. For someone there for 30 yrs ... that's a lifer ... and he has really very little to show for it, imo. And I don't think it's the Democratic Party's fault for not building those networks with him as he's the one who wanted nothing to do with the them and wanted to remain independent. That said, I don't mind some, if not most, of his ideas and stances on issues. But I don't like his delivery ... I think it's a huge turn off to those that might otherwise maybe be persuaded and a big turn off to those that are more centric. His delivery becomes a detriment to other candidates in how he goes after them. He still is an independent but calling himself a Democrat just to run for president. That is where I have difficulties with his ... authenticity.
  15. Yes, his demeanor, yes his supporters. And I don't think he's all that authentic, actually. I think he's about Bernie first. I think he's fine as a voice to push certain issues, but I think he's a really bad candidate. I get the feeling that I'm being yelled at and 'told' what I need to think and do with Bernie.
  16. Well, and I've already seen some Harris bashing already from the Bernie supporter sector ... sigh
  17. All I said when I saw that was 'Ugh'
  18. No parking fees on non-game days. And I do believe that there are uber/lyft services in the area now but don’t know how reliably. The trick with Sanibel during high season is to go early, like 8-9am, get your beaching in, then lunch or whatever and leave by 2-3. Or go later, around 3-3:30, get your beaching in then go to dinner, wander the shops, then head back around 8pm. You will avoid the worst of the on/off traffic that way.
  19. My first Spring Training was 1991. Don’t recall how many STs I went to in those early years ... 4 or 5? But I haven’t missed a spring since 2001 for one or two weeks. My favorite time to come is sometime during that week leading up to and including the first games. It begins then. The long winter is over. It’s the beginning of baseball season. Leaving winter behind for those beautiful, green, perfectly-manicured fields ... it’s just the most unique baseball experience there is. Those first workouts and drills, the confluence of Twins past, present and future, even if it seems impossible you still have hope for something great. But whenever I can get there, whether the beginning like that or towards the end, there’s always something to take in. I will be there this year, too ... my 19th in a row.
  20. I've often stated that those who report incidents falsely should face the same punishment of the crime they said was perpetrated. In other words, you stage and carry out an assault, you should be punished in the same manner as the person who actually commits an assault. But maybe that is too 'an eye for an eye'.
  21. I think having a handful of games each year 'peanut free' is great ... but to never have this available, ever? Not sure I like that idea. Maybe stadiums can have a 'peanut free' section, like they do with alcohol. It seems like completely redoing the stadium for a few people. But then ... it's not like I have either peanuts or cracker jacks at every game I attend ... but I do sometimes. Would miss not having the option to buy cracker jacks, actually.
  22. Uh, who said that exactly? I think the structure of this would allow for more flexibility, actually.
  23. Does anyone know of any other contracts being structured this way for players at this stage in their careers? I wonder if this could be a trend. I could see this structure potentially being better from a budgetary planning standpoint.
  24. Good thing I won’t be living here by then!
  25. I think a clause saying they are not allowed to eat Romaine lettuce would be prudent to incorporate into everyone’s contracts.
