  1. White Supremacy absolutely has its roots in Christianity. Yes, racism is at its core, but that racism is part of their Christian creed. It's part of the radicalization of Christianity. To dismiss this just because it's Christian on Christian doesn't make it less of Christian terrorism.
  2. I consider violence and death threats at women's clinics to be terrorist acts. People like Dylann Roof. The recent fires at black churches in Louisiana. The recent fire at the Civil Rights center in Tennessee. Anti-Muslim violence that has been on the rise since 9/11. These are all acts of home grown, Christian terrorism.
  3. White supremacy is very Christian based. It's on the rise. And that's just one example.
  4. Because a wall doesn't solve the problem. The only thing a wall does is to keep 'those people' out at all costs. Is that your goal? If so, why? Wouldn't it be better to take that money and use it to better these immigrants' lives in their home countries so they have no reason to leave? The problem isn't that they are at our border, the problem is why the come in the first place, that's the heart of the issue. You've gone a long way in this thread and haven't brought up the wall until now. That's really all I need to know about you.
  5. Because, in my opinion, radical/terrorist Christians are a far more dangerous in this country than radical/terrorist Muslims. That could be one reason. Two, because most people, yourself included it seems, want to label every Muslim a terrorist. That's just wrong in the same way not every Christian is a terrorist. But Christian radicalization in this country is the bigger threat.
  6. Heh ... yuck ... I can't stand them. And that bright green relish? No.
  7. You’d probably like the Chicago hot dog then. Ick.
  8. Ketchup on hotdogs in Chicago is practically illegal. Of course they put all kinds of other nonsense in those Chicago hotdogs.
  9. You paying for my travel and time and labor?
  10. Yeah, I wouldn't know if she is or isn't ... it's not being reported! Maybe she gets more play in Minnesota, but in Chicago? Not really. Of course, I don't rely on local media all that much unless I want local news, so I'm not really hearing much from the sources I do read.
  11. None of the women have seen much of anything. Sorry, as I said, you can believe what you want. I don't buy it. I just don't. And nothing will convince me otherwise.
  12. The people generating the most media attention are Biden and Sanders ... and Buttigieg. Aren't Biden and Sanders known? Sorry ... I don't agree ... I see NOTHING of the women running that is anywhere close to Sanders or Biden in the media. Nothing. You can say it's not about gender. That's fine. I don't buy it.
  13. No. Not really. I've botched other things ... dishes/desserts that I'm bringing to someone's house, but I've usually been able to 'fix' them to the point that no one really notices and it still tastes good. Was this a first time meal you fixed for this new person? If so, the lesson is ... test it in advance or stick to what you know and don't try something new for the first time for a 'potential someone.'
  14. Okay ... now that made me go an listen to Les Paul and Mary Ford - Tiger Rag
  15. No, your account isn't banned ... I'll notify Brock (or you could directly).
  16. Sorry, yarni ... my game thread was posted 6 minutes earlier than yours ... but not to lose yours, I merged it into the one already started.
  17. I'm not currently working, so lots of time ... but yes, I'm also procrastinating on the the cleaning part, too.
  18. Dave the Dastardly II? What was wrong with Dave the Dastardly I?
  19. Since I have too much time on my hands of late, I thought I'd get this game thread started early. Once there's a lineup, it's game thread time. Pineda vs Buchholz. The best lead-in to a game thread I think one could write, has already been written. So read Matthew Lenz' article on Pineda. I think that's the best place to start. Lineups: BLUE JAYS Eric Sogard(L) 2B Freddy Galvis(S) SS Randal Grichuk(R ) CF Justin Smoak(S) DH Teoscar Hernandez(R ) LF Rowdy Tellez(L) 1B Brandon Drury(R ) 3B Billy McKinney(L) RF Danny Jansen(R ) C Clay Buchholz (R ) P TWINS Max Kepler(L) RF Jorge Polanco(S) SS Nelson Cruz(R ) DH Eddie Rosario(L) LF C.J. Cron(R ) 1B Marwin Gonzalez(S) 3B Willians Astudillo(R ) C Jonathan Schoop(R ) 2B Byron Buxton(R ) CF Michael Pineda (R ) P Weather: gray, 50s, winds from the NNW. To me, while not cold, does spell 'chilly.' I have a lot of experience being outdoors these days, and I say that cloudy days with winds from the north this time of year is chilly. Now, if it were 50 and sunny ... different story. 'Nuff of the Midwestern weather speak. Enjoy the game ... go Twins! I'll actually get to watch ... while I vaccuum, dust, mop floors ... it's floor day at the Keller household.
  20. Yeah, I’m not in favor of their solution, but the issue itself is definitely is a thing and needs to be addressed. And I agree with you about Buttigieg. He’s just too ... raw for me, but of the male candidates, I think he offers the best option. But I think he’d be great as a VP choice, but not Klobuchar. Klobuchar needs a balance with someone from a big state outside the Midwest.
  21. https://thehill.com/opinion/campaign/439045-we-seem-to-be-ignoring-the-women-running-for-president?fbclid=IwAR3qP9wWbzyJHRjog8I650dH9Aq_QxUH1LSPgTB43rt3UShfZC0Ul-FfvOQ I, for one, will be supporting a woman candidate. Not sure which one yet, but a woman.
  22. I ate my chicken dinner before the game. I was that confident.
  23. If you need a proofreader/editor, I’m currently not working and available.
  24. Georgia Engel (Georgette on the MTM Show). rip.
  25. Two traditionally Republican congressional districts in Chicago suburbs went to Democrats ... because of their message and because of their grassroots campaigns, especially Underwood. She is a lesson for moving forward ... a good, unwaivering message that she brought to every corner of her district. She went out with the goal of talking to as many people as she could from suburbs to rural. Grassroots campaigning used to be a hallmark of Democrats, and that's something I'd like to see them get back to and hope they do. I guess with social media, many have fallen into a trap of not actually campaigning everywhere they possibly can and ignoring areas for the large city stops they make.
