  1. SE Arizona? Sierra Vista? Bisbee? Tombstone?
  2. Confirmed. Martín and his wife welcomed a baby boy to their family.
  3. I actually don’t know all went well, just assume they did since he’s back. I had read that he left on paternity leave as she was about to give birth to their second child, so I just assume they have a new little one. I think we’ll hear during the broadcast or after.
  4. Lol ... funny you should say that ... I was going to start with something like 'Hey, all you mothers out there ...' but decided it would be best left to someone else to go 'there.' Thank you for jumping in! You aren't a disappointment ... at least not today.
  5. Happy Mothers' Day to all posters in TDland to whom this applies! <crickets chirping> Anyone? <more crickets chirping> Maybe one or two potential mothers out there reading? <even more crickets chirping> Very sad, imo. We need more women here. Being on a sports fansite, such as this, is always a bit one-sided, unfortunately. And I don't think it's due to a lack of enthusiasm for the game, because I know and talk to a lot of women about sports ... they just aren't here. Where's shorty when you need her? (BYTO reference) Anyway ... hope you all are finding a moment to honor the mothers in your lives, whether they be your spouses, partners, girlfriends, friends, aunts, grandmas, daughters, co-workers, cousins, employees, employers, your actual mothers, etc., whomever is special to you. They have done and still do a lot for us. But why take just one day? I think we should think of every day as Mothers' Day, because what they do for us, have done for us, they do/did every day. My own mother gets a phone call or a card from me that says "Happy Every Day, Mom!" Okay, that out of the way, onto the game ... what will we see in today's game? Pink bats, balls, shirts, caps? Will the cameras pan the crowds and point out players' moms? We'll certainly see some of that. (Dads ... your turn is coming on June 16.) But what, or should I say who, we won't see in today's game is Fernando Romero, Kohl Stewart and Tyler Duffey. All were returned to AAA. Stewart and Romero to make room for Martín Pérez (who was on paternity leave ... and Happy Mothers' Day to Vaclena Pérez on the birth of their 2nd child) and Willians Astudillo (reinstated from the 10-day IL), both of whom we will see in today's game. Duffey was the 26th man for yesterday's double header. Hoping to see a continuation of Wes Johnson's magic with Martín Pérez. Lineups: TIGERS 1. Niko Goodrum (S) RF 2. Gordon Beckham ( R) 2B 3. You'll get up to 60 deg F today in Minneapolis ... not so lucky here in Chicago, where the 'feels like' temperature when I looked about an hour ago was 38. Yuck. Go Twins!
  6. Thanks for posting the link. This is a very good charity.
  7. My answer to that question is ‘Yes,’ For this year, it’s been a team effort. If Eddie signs a long term deal with the Twins, I’d say him ... a Twin from beginning to end always makes a good face. But for right now, today, it’s yes, the team.
  8. We have them at my work. They’re called ‘Quiet Rooms’ and there are several of them.
  9. You and I did not read the same article. She is saying that many people of color have already been asked why they won't attend. And she's saying, if they are being asked why they won't attend, why aren't white players being asked why they are, given the presidents marginalization of these players teammates.

As such, Trump turned the tradition of championship teams visiting the White House into an uncomfortable experience for athletes of color—who are often asked to cast aside their identity for the comfort of their white teammates, owners, coaches, and fans.’
  11. Oh, sure ... there’s always that one person in the crowd.
  12. I think everyone has that letter to write, but I’m waiting to write mine at the end of the season.
  13. I was rather ambiguous on that detail, wasn't I?
  14. You are off the charts, Chief.
  15. Hahaha ... did we win yet?
  16. I don't know anything about this website I found, or if it's even being updated. Looks like some figures from 2018 are in there, so, maybe? But if you scroll down, it gives some data about some procedural implementations and how it has proven to reduce cases of police midconduct, namely, killing people. https://mappingpoliceviolence.org/ I didn't delve into it too much, but issues of profiling I'm sure could also have a huge affect.
  17. I think he's saying that that was the cost of the latest suit regarding misconduct. That cost is paid for by us, the taxpayers. That perhaps, if we had a better system of weeding these individuals out, or better procedural system in place, maybe it would stem some of cases of misconduct. And he was pointing out that that money could then be better spent to help people. And for the record, I don't think anyone is lumping these cases of misconduct into one sweeping judgement that all or most police are bad. It's always a few bad apples spoiling the bunch, but, that spoilage is bad and needs to be managed better or eliminated altogether.
  18. This should be the mantra.

  20. I also cannot assist ... but your username is one of my favorite movies, almost, if spelled Ladyhawke ...
  21. Knock it off and keep to topic. And stop with the personal jabs. If you can’t post opinions without getting upset that others disagree with you, and your rebuttals turn dismissive and personal, think twice about posting at all. And if you are going to keep circling on the same subject making the same arguments with continued disagreement, walk away from it. Even though I just happen to be quoting ewen’s post, this goes for everyone.
  22. No kidding. That shocked me. He's younger than me.
  23. Lol, I was already ‘old’ when I started lurking on the ESPN boards and then BYTO. It’s been a pleasure watching you all grow up!
  24. Ooops ... you are right ... will delete.
