  1. The team is better this year. By a long shot. And it's fun and enjoyable to watch. I think there a lot of reasons for that, and not just one, as implied. And yes, I read the article. Meh, whatever. It didn't really say much and it's much the defenders and the opposite of that making the mountains out of molehills here. Cron is a step up at first over Mauer. Cruz is a step up over Morrison. We're also better because Dozier is gone and Schoop is, well, better there, too. Glad we have Polanco from the beginning. Didn't see any of that mentioned in the article or by others. We're better because Molitor is gone, too. And several others. We're also better because of huge steps forward by several players. The only one I'd have liked to have kept was Escobar. You make it sound like we're winning solely because Mauer is no longer on the team. That really isn't true. It's a team effort all the way around ... the past team members who are gone, the past manager and coaches who are gone, the players, manager and coaches who replaced them. To make this all about one player, and lay it all at one person's feet as Souhan has and as you are defending ... well, guess I can't say what that is, but it's the opposite of seeing Mauer's name in the title and running to do the opposite of defend at all costs. Mauer is gone. Gone. I don't think he's the reason this team is winning, here or not.
  2. There it is!!!! I thought we were going to be homerunless this game!
  3. We've been there and done that ... winning helps keep the trollers and haters at bay.
  4. omg! I'm glad we didn't do that. Polanco needed to be running harder ... might have made it to 2nd.
  5. Lol ... my work made us take this online course about cyber security ... was such a waste of time and pretty hysterical ... but we had to log in and take it and the test ... required for everyone with network access ... I asked our IS guy what would happen if we failed the test (which was really, really easy and we had, like 3 tries to pass ... 10 questions, and just ridiculous) ... he laughed and said he didn't know. Because I was seriously thinking of failing on purpose it was that dumb. Now I wonder. They probably would have cut off my network access ... find by me.
  6. Broadcasters say he's doing great as a MiLB manager ... thinks he'll make it to the big leagues in some capacity, and eventually a manager. But I don't know anything about the teams he's managed.
  7. The Sox broadcasters had an interesting story. The manager for their AA team, Omar Vizquel, creates art out of his lineup cards ... was amazing. Apparently he's an artist in his own right. Found this link ... but what they showed on the broadcast was better. https://www.mlb.com/cut4/omar-vizquel-makes-lineup-card-art/c-292763894
  8. He lost me YEARS ago when he seriously suggested that Sox players risk suspension to actually throw stuff at (Johann) Santana ... like dirt or sand ... to throw him off. Was just dumb as well as weird as well as beyond ridiculous.
  9. The ChiSox broadcast has been so pleasant I forgot to come here! #ThatsWhatHappensWhenHawkIsRetiredYAY
  10. Lol ... no ... I just know how to use the advanced search feature to find mentions of a poster in this forum.
  11. It made for a good story while in Seattle. But now that that's done ... onward.
  12. Probably an over all example of misery loving company ... That said, I'm going back to Han Joelo as a possibility.
  13. Lol ... maybe I'll walk this back a little ... or maybe he's just 'come around' ... or maybe the Twins winning was the trick ... http://twinsdaily.com/topic/9227-moderator-burnout-sticky-thread/?p=493161
  14. I don’t know his body of work but I remember contacting him a few times about doing game threads. I’ve just noticed that he seems to be able to respond to some of those who just want to drive by and grouse in a good way.
  15. I’m pretty sure Brock contacted him, but haven’t heard what his response is/was.
  16. You do know that Hawk retired, yes? His last game from Sox vs Cubs last season. He gone!
  17. Yeah, not a fan of that, though, tbh ... the cramped, urban setting. However, the Cubs' owners are buying up everything in the area ... who knows what that will look like down the road.
  18. The Sox Park isn’t a dump. It’s not the best stadium out there for sure, far from it, but it’s not exactly a dump. Wrigley on the other hand ... I don’t care if it’s a ‘baseball shrine’ it’s a dump. There are very few seats at Wrigley where you can actually see the entire field. Food and beer choices are far worse and twice as expensive. And getting in and out of the stadium and the area, ugh, so cramped. And the drunken fans are the worst in baseball.
  19. Concur that they blew it. But I’d still rather go to and watch a game at the Sox park than at Wrigley. Every day. Any day.
  20. Of course I was jesting. The conspiracy theorist in me thinks, 'Ooouuu ... that looks like something, wonder what gives', but the pragmatist says, 'Eh.'
  21. Maybe we need to get RandballsStu to participate in game threads?
