  1. Because there was an internal candidate that was the odds on favourite doesn't make it 'rigged.' Yes, it's obvious that it was Molitor's job to lose, or someone else's job to take it away from him, but it doesn't make it a 'dog and pony' show for those of us waiting and watching. Nor does it make these perceptions, speculations or opinions fact. If they absolutely knew they wanted to give him the job, they would have long before this. I have been on plenty of auditions and witnessed many others, where there have been persons already acting in the open position, or internal candidates who have an advantage. It is rarely handed to anyone and they still have to prove they are the best for the job. Sometimes the internal candidate gets it, sometimes they don't. But it still doesn't make it rigged.
  2. Molly was a nickname going back to his playing days with the Brewers. My aunt, a huge Brewers fan, referred to him as that all the time.
  3. As a moderator, I am urging you (everyone) to have some caution with these types of statements. Everyone on this board is entitled to have an opinion and every opinion is valid, including ones that disagree from one's own. You may think you are absolutely right and everyone else is absolutely wrong, but you still need to accept differing viewpoints without going down the disrespect path of dismissal over those differing viewpoints. Again, I don't care how right you THINK you are, especially over something in which we are not privy to ALL the information; perception and speculation are still not certain answers and we need to be clear and respectful on how these things are shared with one another.
  4. As was stated by an excellent poster above 'We just don't know his end game.' But why does that have to mean that his end game is uncomplimentary toward the Twins? Just maybe someone knows something about what that answer is and very likely we won't ever know.
  5. Chicago isn't really that crazy of a baseball town. It's a Bears town first and foremost. Yeah, I don't get it either, but it is. Followed by the Blackhawks ... a Chicago team that actually wins. Then maybe baseball, after the Bulls.
  6. Moderator note: please stop this back and forth 'you started it' 'no, you started it' bickering.
  7. Not posts ... threads, with multiple posts
  8. Yeah, even though I think it's the right decision, it's still a little sad. But now, it's onward, upward (hopefully) ... c'est la vie.
  9. Concur. Wonder if he accepts a role in the org? Doesn't sound like it.
  10. Could someone report back on the presser? I can't get it here. nm. Have 1500am streaming.
  11. Ooops ... I knew it was z ... in the same general area of the keyboard ... sometimes my fingers just type too fast. (Super fast touch typist ... I forget to read sometimes.) Mientkiewicz
  12. If he's the new manager, better learn it now ... Mientkiewicz ... just remember ... you have two 'ie' combinations, and the rest is easy.
  13. I just hope a new manager is named sooner rather than later ... not sure I can handle 50 new threads daily on who the new manager should be.
  14. I'm not at all surprised by Gardy for all the reasons listed above. I am surprised, sort of, by the 'letting go' of the entire coaching staff, but understand why that had to be. Let the 'new guy' (and I use that term lightly, because I don't consider Molitor a new guy, if it's him, but I kind of hope not) choose whom he works with best. Question ... does anyone think any of the coaches will be back? Who do you want back, if any? I wouldn't be opposed to Bruno and/or Cuellar.
  15. Oh boo!! DISLIKE! DISLIKE! (hee hee hee)
  16. JB would be fine. Me? Not so much. Thanks for that hearty laugh! I like the gig I have now, thank you very much. And thanks above for the 'guy or gal' ... that's forward thinking ... but are there any women coaches, managers out there anywhere in baseball?
  17. I, too, think the Foundation idea is a good one. As for extending him, I'd wait until next year and see what he does, and who is where in the line of prospects.
  18. This was all amazing stuff! Thank you! Instead of a pub crawl, maybe TD should construct it's own 'hill drill' contest?
  19. I've gone back and forth on Molitor, never being quite completely sold. I wouldn't be upset if that's the way the Twins decided to go, but Mientkiewics would be my first choice. While yes, it would be a 'promote from within' route, I still think it represents a much-needed younger, energetic winning outlook and I get very enthused with the thought of it. While Molitor has shown he's willing to embrace some of the more 'new-fangled' ideas and technologies available, in my mind he still seems like that 'older expected safe standard' that I think is now the time to move away from. Not that age should be a factor, but Molitor is older than Gardy. I think the new manager should be able to 'run with the kids' for years to come. I've stated before I think it's time for change, but I wouldn't be irate if Gardy were allowed to finish out his contract sans Anderson. If he wants to resign before his contract is up, then so be it and let's usher in the era of Dougie Baseball. (Btw, I am not in agreement of a manager starting a brawl as being some kind of awesome but that's perhaps a different discussion.)
  20. It's exciting to know we can have this debate with several prospects.
  21. Did you leave this in from a previous report? Fort Myers' next game is tonight in Daytona at 6:05pm CT; and Cedar Rapids plays Kane County tonight in CR at 6:35pm CT.
  22. You could see the confidence even though they are very young, relatively speaking.
