  1. You just show up and watch. Nothing special needed. But not sure about parking on days where there's a ST game going on at the stadium. Can show up, but will have to pay the $10 parking fee.
  2. Taxes ... grumble grumble necessary evil grumble

  3. That was a beautiful post and a beautiful tribute to your Grandfather. My thoughts are with you and your family at this time.
  4. Great read, Seth! You do such a good job at showing the 'human interest' side of players ... hope to see, er read, more of it!
  5. You could probably get his autograph at the Meltdown if you asked.
  6. Paul, it was pretty neat. Those were the days, my friend ...
  7. Whether or not it's our plan, it may happen anyway. And I'm with you on this. What Jay said ... he needs to go to AAA and demonstrate he's ready of the bigs on all levels.
  8. mike ... the point is I don't think anyone is claiming they did wrong, it's that they disagree with the methodology and it's not what they think is best. And you think differently. Sometimes you won't understand another because it's just not the way you think and no amount of explaining it will make any difference because you are just in your own zone with this; and that is okay. I think you've tried enough, and so have others, and at this point it's going no where. This is where the 'agree to disagree' philosophy comes in.
  9. Even though I'm quoting mike's post in this, this goes out to everyone. Please stop with these kinds of posts. This kind of marginalizing is really getting old, and it's coming from both sides of this argument. Some like the Sox' strategy, others do not. So what. That's what discussion is for. But if discussion comes down to quibbling over nits and stats and marginalizing posts in order to show your 'disdain' for an opposite point of view, maybe it's time to move on. This thread has gone about as far as it can go and the wall is now thoroughly beaten. If you don't have anything new to say, but just want to get in the last word, then just stop. If all you want to do is 'win' your argument, stop. Think. Move on.
  10. Since this thread has pretty much ceased to be a Twins discussion and is primarily a Sox discussion, it has been relocated to a more appropriate forum.
  11. It's all about possibility vs probability and how much weight you want to give each. I always hope for the possibilities, but I also prepare for the probabilities.
  12. Except for 2003 (Cubs) and 2005 (White Sox), in my years of living in Chicago (since 2000), what I've heard more often than not, midway into baseball season, it's 'How are the Bears looking this year?' Both teams could still be competing and playing good ball, but if they aren't winning it all, it's onto the Bears. And then that goes away by the first of October. That's the Chicago culture around the Sox and the Cubs, in my experience. More so for the Sox even. The Sox have never generated much 'enthusiasm' (outside of 2005 ... and even that was pathetic compared to the World Series wins the Twins have been a part of). Few are even talking about what the Sox have done so far in the off season. I seem to know more than the Sox fans I know here. And I honestly try not to know anything about the Sox.
  13. Lots and lots of cookies to bake ...

  14. Moderator warning: The bickering needs to stop. Have a discussion and at some point, agree to disagree. Try not to make this personal by telling other posters they are off the rails, or need decaf, or just don't get it. Make your points without going there. Warnings are and will continue to be issued. It's frustrating to be losing and feel that issues aren't being addressed as we think they should be, but I think we can all express this without delving into the trolling and disrespect and non sequitur realms. Thank you!
  15. I didn't hear it but this gave me enough of an idea. I think it was an epic fail on both parties. Asking that at this particular press conference showed some pretty extreme poor judgment, imo. And Torii's response, equally bad. They both sunk to a low.
  16. If Torii can manage to assist in that endeavor, then I'll be all in in hindsight.
  17. Sigh. At least it's only a one-year deal. That doesn't make it okay, but at least it's just that. Ugh.
  18. Moderator note: before this back and forth gets snippier, let's end it now. Keep the discourse respectful and pertinent.
  19. For future reference, please take these questions to the MinnCentric forum. I realize it's just easier to post these questions here as you are experiencing them while responding in the baseball forums, but it does tend to disrupt the threads. I'm sure that Brock has seen these questions by now, but I'll let him to know to check on it. I've never had difficulties with this issue using my desktop, but I have had a lot of difficulties with these types of issues using my iPad. Edit: I've started a new topic in the MinnCentric forum to address this, should you have more details to share, or other problems. Okay, sorry for the interruption ... back to baseball talk.
  20. I'm curious, and probably could research this myself, but I'll be honest, I just don't have the time or will ... but still, are there, have there been, any other mlb managers who have never managed, even in the minors? That just went from über coach to mlb manager?
  21. I've been way out of the loop lately of reading all things Twins, what did Mauer say yesterday? That comment was made elsewhere, too, but without a quote or link. Thanks.
