    I'm not a good armchair GM and can't pretend to know why anyone does anything ... that said, of the list provided, I think Thorpe has more question marks than the other two (serious) options. I don't know or not if he has a future here, and if here or there, as a starter or a BP arm. (I concluded that Burrows was Otto's little way of a joke, perhaps, as I don't think he was a serious option.) So ... that's why I think Thorpe will start on Wednesday ... of the 3 on the list. I wouldn't be surprised if it ends up being someone not on the Otto's list, too.

    @TwinsDr2021 and @Dman ... Your discussion has gone afield of the OP in discussing Simmons, therefor I've moved you posts to a more appropriate location on our website. We don't want to discourage conversation, but discussing Covid without relating it to Simmons moves it off topic into a broader discussion. Thanks.

    Lol @ Burrows ... but I think Seth has it right. They need to determine where/if Lewis Thorpe fits into plans for the next year. I think that Ryan and Strotman already do ... Ryan for sure. So, thorpe it is.

    Just a quibble, but not sure the White Sox were discounted, either. I think some writers ranked them 1st in the division prior to the season

    ... in his first MLB appearance. Wow! A pitcher throwing a no-hitter in his first major league appearance hasn't happened since 1953. I remember thinking how exciting it was that Eddie Rosario hit a home run on the first pitch in his first at bat in the majors ... well, this is 1000 times that. Or more. I mean ... what would be comparable to this?

    This is actually an incorrect conclusion, not borne out in the research data.

    As a moderator on this site, please keep your comments to Simmons. This is not the same situation. One didn't affect the health and welfare of others and the same one was blackballed from working again. This is not at all the same thing and is a false equivalence. And we are not going down that rabbit hole. If you want to discuss Kaepernick's situation, go to the Current Affairs club and start a thread. Thanks.
