  1. Not only that ... yet again ... it's someone from the DR. I'm not saying that in any kind of negative way, it's just a higher percentage of athletes from the DR that are the ones testing positive. If he needs a B12 and iron supplement, perhaps get it directly from the Twins.
  2. I think the writing was on the wall for some time, but especially after the Morrison signing. I always feel bad for these guys at this point because it's a long fought-for dream and I hope for Vargas it's not over yet. The one thing that makes this an 'awwww' moment for me is that he will miss out playing with the Twins when they are in PR. But, that's the reality of baseball ...
  3. Sounds like you could use better trivia partners ... Like your report on Sano. I saw the same as you did when I was there a couple weeks ago.
  4. I'm posting a plug for Adopt-a-Prospect. You can follow Romero's season here. Goulik will keep us all updated on Romero's progress.
  5. And I will add, as a moderator, particularly in threads where it has no bearing. Start a new thread, please, if you want to go down the TR vs Levine path instead of thread-jacking this thread.
  6. Yeah, if the off season had gone differently I might have begrudgingly been okay with that eventually if we hadn’t done anything else. I just think he’s going to have a huge drop off. I’m not sure I’d have given him a guaranteed 3rd year. And I agree. I like what we ended up doing much better.
  7. Wow, no way I’d have given Arrieta that. I’d have been back to ‘What are they thinking!?!?!?’ if our FO committed to him for 3 yrs.
  8. Round 2 is posted and will open for business Monday morning! Check it out here: http://twinsdaily.com/topic/28867-round-2-adopt-a-prospect-2018-monday-mar-12/
  9. Ack!!! I'm getting political ads now ... for candidates I would never vote for ... ugh!!! So much for TD being a respite from all of that!
  10. <GROAN> And of course you jumped right on that. You are nothing if not predictable. But I would have been disappointed if you didn’t.
  11. You can question these things all you want; there will be those who agree with you, and those who don't. You will get those who feel as strongly about their opinions as you do yours. That's the nature of it. It's not always easy, especially if your opinion is in the minority (although on Joe, I think it's not so lopsided as say, extending Buxton, on this site). Just becuase someone has something to say opposite you, they aren't telling you you can't question it, they are rebutting your statements because they feel differently.
  12. Omg ... The Sting was AWESOME! I saw it several times when it first came out. Redford and Neuman ... it simply does not get better than that.
  13. My only comparison is the degree I liked the whole thing, because there are other categories for all those other things. Unfortunately, I can't see every single one. Each year I say 'I'm going to see every good movie out there' and then I go months without seeing one.
  14. Lol ... well, so much for listening to all your reviews ... I never saw 'Shape of Water' and I see that it won for best picture ... not sure how that is possible after seeing 'Three Billboards ...' but now I'm intrigued again but will have to wait, unless it's still in a theatre somewhere.
  15. Hmm, who’s out ... Vargas? Guess they have time to make that decision since there’s an open roster spot.

  18. It doesn’t sound like it, but I hope this doesn’t become the reason we lost Chargois.
  19. Taking my Mom to see ‘Early Man’ for hopefully some Wallace and Grommet like humor.
  20. As much as Levi is being cautioned about arguing against things no one said, I’ll caution you as well. The majority of people here are in in-between land. You seem to have an all or nothing take, which is fine, it’s your opinion. But if others want to take a more tempered road that is acceptable as well and there is no need to say they are being unconditionally fanatical about it. Agree to disagree short of the implied name calling, please. That last sentence is for everyone.
  21. Or what they’ve tried isn’t working because of things in the article Craig posted earlier and they are chalking it up to him not trying, or whatever, instead of their own lack of fully understanding the issues, specifically the manager. As I’ve said I don’t give Sano a full pass but I can’t and won’t at this time lay it all at his feet, either, as many are so wont to do.
  22. This is a very interesting study. It makes me wonder if those with a genetic predisposition of being leaner have difficulties understanding those whose genetic predisposition is, well, larger. They can’t understand the difficulties in maintaining and losing weight because it’s never been difficult for them and then chalk it up to the person with difficulties not trying hard enough which leads to all sorts of messages of ‘We’re just not getting through to him,’ or ‘He’s not taking his profession seriously enough.’ I’m not saying that I give Sano a pass to go out and load up, but I wonder if our lines of what’s reasonable in his case are just off. When I saw him at drills, he just didn’t look as bad as some are making him out to be. Yes, I think he needs to catch up with some of his conditioning and maybe trim down some, but I don’t think he’s egregiously out of shape and/or overweight. Maybe where you’d expect him to be after recovering from surgery. Wasn’t the initial timeline on that going to run into ST anyway? But I don’t know what he has and hasn’t been doing to at least help his case. So I don’t give him a complete pass. But it worries me the comments Molitor is making. Not from the standpoint of Molitor really trying the help Sano, but worried he’s ready to write him off because he can’t relate.
  23. And that video was a very accurate view of how he looked doing infield drills yesterday, as I said earlier.
  24. Have to say seeing him in person he didn’t seem as overweight as what I was expecting after reading some of the comments here. Yes, I think he could be leaner and yes, I think there needs to be some conditioning. I’ll give half a pass to that because his injury didn’t allow for him to work on things as much as we would have hoped during the off season. But I am concerned about the other I won’t give half a pass to, him. He’s 24 and I’ll give that a little bit more time, but I do think he needs to make some choices sooner rather than later on who he wants to be as a player as others have alluded to. And after seeing him today, man, he’s just one big dude with huge thighs, but not hugely overweight.
