  1. I think this service time stuff is overblown. I think our window of contention will be gone by the time Gordon’s service time is over which is why I don’t think it will matter if the clock starts this year or next. Get him up this year to see what he needs to get ready for. However, he’s not ready yet, and maybe he won’t be this year. But the minute he shows signs of it, you bring him up and show him where he needs to be. We need him to be in this Rosario, Kepler, Sano, Buxton window.
  2. Yeah, which is why I wanted to promote him to AAA a bit sooner, but it likely wouldn’t have made a difference.
  3. I would assume that, yes. And I don’t think that’s an over-reach to jump to that conclusion. I do think, however, it’s an over-reach to assume it’s because Sano is disgruntled and that this is somehow punitive.
  4. I think you are reaching with that assumption. Fort Myers has one of the best facilities. I don’t think this is punitive for disgruntledness, in fact everything I’ve read suggests yes, this is for work on his mechanics and conditioning.
  5. Who’s disgruntled and being removed?
  6. It won’t be Gordon until they remove someone from the 40-man.
  7. Why do you think so? I’d really like to know
  8. Didn’t check the news ... who’s coming up? Assume Mauer but haven’t heard.
  9. I wasn’t an advocate of his signing either time. Was difficult not to offer him a contract after last season, I suppose, but I wouldn’t have offered 3 years because you are right, they aren’t likely to fire him even though I think they should. All the woulda, coulda, shouldas won’t change what is, though, so I just sigh and complain some then turn off the tv and move on with a little hope that something changes but expecting nothing.
  10. I’ve been advocating they move him to the 7th or 8th spot until he starts hitting.
  11. Those are nice secondary moves. Getting a new manager would be primary for me.
  12. He is off the DL and was optioned. Castro was moved to 60-day DL to make room. This happened several days ago now. Maybe a week?
  13. It’s these decisione that makes less likely to watch the game. I’ll look at the video highlights (if there are any) afterwards.
  14. Is it unusual to have so few signed at this point? Or has this list just not been updated?
  15. I wasn’t sure which quote to give you in response so you get both ... The one from ‘The Shawshank Redemption’: Hope is a good thing, maybe the best of things, and no good thing ever dies. Or what I always say about every baseball season: hope for the best, prepare for the worst.
  16. Time to bring up Gordon and give Dozier some more rest.
  17. Um, okay. And who do you propose to fill all those positions if you cut them all?
  18. Really wish I lived closer ... looks like fun.
  19. It was my way of saying that maybe they are where they are and we are where are is because of the manager. We SHOULDN’T be trailing, yet we are.
  20. I was pretty clear when I said ... he is not without partners in blame ... but he is where it starts, imo.
  21. I actually didn't think we were in play for a WC at all this year. It was pretty iffy at best. BUT ... we play in a very weak division, winning the division was probably higher in probability ... and I still think it can be done ... BUT ... ugh ... not like this. If we could play like we played Cleveland, yes; but not like how we play the teams we should be beating. Losing to the White Sox and to Hector Santiago ... just ugh. I'm just not a happy camper right now.
  22. While I was one that felt strongly we needed a change in management, including Gardy ... I guess the proverbial adage ... 'Be careful what you wish for' ... is pretty spot on.
  23. No kidding. In my opinion this is where the trouble begins. It’s certainly not all on him and it doesn’t help when Santana, Mauer, Buxton, Castro are all on the DL, Polanco out on suspension, and Sano, Morrison, and Dozier make you wonder if they’ve ever play professional baseball before, but man, let’s just start with the lineups and work our way through to the BP. He is not a motivator and he just can’t get it together. I don’t even know where to start with the rest it’s just awful.
  24. Typically, how many of these picks sign?
