  1. I actually wouldn't mind Gallo in the leadoff spot...for reasons mentioned in the article, and for the fact that pitchers aren't as sharp 1st inning and tend to throw more strikes. He would probably end up with at least 10 leadoff HRs. That being said, Rocco can pull names out of a hat for 1-5 each game and it wouldn't make much of a difference.
  2. Luzardo hands down. Need a lefty and he has highest upside, while we can still get him at a half way reasonable price.
  3. ?Now go get Bauer! But seriously, would Arraez be enough for Luzardo? I'd rather keep him and trade Polanco and Kepler for SP...
  4. Same contract...3/100 with opt outs each year. I'm sure he wants this to end...gives him another opportunity next year. It's Deja vu all over again on Ground hogs day.
  5. Devers just resigned for 1 year I believe...
  6. I'd rather just sign José Iglesias.
  7. This trade makes perfect sense...if the PTBNL is Lewis, Kiriloff, and Balazovic. He is going to be expensive.
  8. Who would you put in front of him in our rotation? So you are saying he is no where close to as good as his last 2 years say he is? I'm not saying he's an ace...just wondering why you are so sure he is not...
  9. How do you come to this conclusion? Would he be our best pitcher?
  10. I thought Johan was good...like amazing. He could throw 3 change-ups in a row and leave the batter clueless. Then I sat behind home plate and watched Liriano pitch (before his injury). He was far dirtier than Johan, and had he not got hurt, I am convinced he would have had a HOF-type career.
  11. not sure if this has been mentioned in any threads, but Duran became the 1st pitcher in MLB history to throw a 100 MPH splitty...
  12. Was referring to his offense numbers. He is top 5 in the game.
  13. Point taken...just some food for thought: Lindor hit .230 with an OPS of .734 in his first year with NY... Also...Trea Turner is the best in the business. Seager and Boegarts having very nice years...for losing teams. The other names you mentioned are good players-and are having comparable seasons to Carlos-some on winning teams, some not so much. I agree I would like to see him hit better the last 2 months (and hopefully playoffs).
  14. You may very well be correct on all points. However: 1) Verlander signing with the Twins was/is highly doubtful (for numerous reasons). 2) I'm one of the few who voted the trade deadline as a front office "C." Pitching, especially RP, could have been acquired much more efficiently. SPs are very hit and miss in FA.
  15. This is baseball (and all other sports) every year. Some players are over paid. Some are under paid... according to their stats. But then...there's winning and losing. Would we be in a position to win the division without him? Not so sure...
  16. Ideal: Montas, Castillo, Contreras, Robertson, and an additional RP. Out: Kepler, Sano, Wallner, Cavaco, Sands, Woods-Richardson, Martin
  17. I'd make that trade in a heartbeat. Need someone to win in playoffs. Luis is filthy. 1 more year of control might also help persuade Correa to stay 1 more year.
  18. He really does seem like a great pick, but has there been any speculation as to why he dropped (minus the Kumar ordeal)?
  19. You go all in, or you stay. Castillo, Montas,Puk, and Nelly. And a couple other key parts. Or... nothing. Do not go in between.
  20. Wallner's swing reminds me of someone...just can't figure it out. Maybe Carlos Pena?
