  1. Can you imagine if this was true, and Altuve got hit jersey ripped off?? wow.
  2. An interesting tidbit on Archer...his option for 2021 includes a 250K buyout. He kind of makes sense.
  3. Man. Boston could go either way. Is Betts the first domino that would knock them all down? Or would they still try to compete even without Betts?
  4. Maybe now is a good buy-low opportunity for Archer? The most reasonable SP to obtain that can slot into the rotation right now? We need to clear room from the 25/40 man rosters anyway. Not sure what it would take, but it would probably be fairly cheap prospect-wise?
  5. Aces are scarce. Period. If there is ever an ace available, any team trying to win should absolutely try to acquire them. If there is any moment between now and the trade deadline to get a front of the rotation SP, the answer needs to be YES. FO SHO. Give up the farm? Maybe not...but we can make a damn good offer. That being said, there might be none available. We might not have a choice other than to make due with what we have. I am really liking the idea of having 2 games out of the rotation with a primary/secondary pitcher (at least until Pineda is back). It also might not be a bad idea to not put them back to back, in hopes of making for a more efficient bullpen. 1. Berrios (please go 7 every game!) 2. Graterol/Smeltzer (love the contrast) 3. Jake 4. Homer 5. Liriano/Dobnak (laugh all you want. I get it. But I think Liriano could be a band-aide at the beginning of the year and then a veteran lefty for the rest of the year. Might not be a mad mentor to Smeltzer/Thorpe either). Long relief: Thorpe
  6. I just can't see the Rockies not extending Story-but I get your point. I remember Tito loving Arraez and saying he is going to win batting titles. I wouldn't do Lewis and Arraez either...but Kiriloff and Arraez...sure.
  7. Now trade Arraez and Kiriloff for 2 years of Lindor to play SS, shifting Polanco to 2B. Just kidding, but seriously though.
  8. Would it be amazing if we signed Donaldson? Sure! Would he make us a better all-around team? Yes! Just to shed some light...it might not happen. Crazy, huh? Then what? Some of you say let our utility guys and prospects take over. Some of you say to sign Moreland. There is not a whole lot left as far as FA 1st baseman. Take a look. It's bad. Signing a FA who can hit and is in his prime would not be the worst case scenario. Would Castellanos be an awful 1B? Who knows. Maybe. But at least he can play OF and eventually take over at DH if the experiment did not work. To me, worth a shot...especially if the price is right. The options are pretty thin after Donaldson. *Also, no QO attached to Castellanos, for whatever it is worth.
  9. If we are going to trade our top prospects...trade for Arenado (and Gray?). Bryant...yes...If price is right. But chances are, it's not.
  10. Over/under homeruns next 3 years: 100. I'll take the over.
  11. Anyone ever play poker? You ever tell people what you are going for? The FO telling people we are going for an impact signing is the equivalent to telling people at the poker table, "I hope I get a really good hand." Of course you hope things work out. Sometimes they do, and sometimes they don't. Not sure why people on here expect the FO to lay out their entire blueprint.
  12. Because he would be signing with a team that won 101 games last year, in a weak division, that broke homerun records, that is returning mostly everyone and has young guys in the wings to help out as well? And there are still 2 months of off-season left?
  13. Not only does he look like Patrick Bateman...He had a good 2nd half stretch last year. I'm in.
  14. Good teams have reliable 4th and 5th starters. Pineda last year? No?
  15. Let's take things at face value before giving up on our off-season. Nobody said these were huge, impact moves. Can Bailey be a good #5? Make an argument against it if you don't think so. Hill was signed to help make a late season/post-season run. If he reaches his incentives, it means we have done very well! Plain and simple! Again, if you have a good argument against signing a $3mill lottery ticket with experience, I'd love to hear it! These moves need to be looked at separately than impact moves we are all waiting for.
  16. Price and Jay Groome. We pay 3/60 of his contract.
  17. Graterol throws innings 1-2. Price 3-7. Nice.
  18. Start him up with the Twins. Pitch any way needed. Wouldn't hurt getting a 5 inning start or two...especially when hitters timing is off...
  19. Is there a sale on Price? What's the price of Sale? The sky is not falling to me...yet. Still time for Archer/Bell AND Ray!
  20. https://www.mlb.com/breaking-news/rockies-nolan-arenado-trade-offers I know this was mentioned in one of the threads yesterday-but just wanted to further discuss it with whoever is intrigued. There is probably no merit to Colorado trading Arenado. It is just not likely to happen... ...but...if we blew up the farm, we COULD land a franchise player in his prime. Couple of things-he has an opt out in his contract after 2021, but people are saying this could be renegotiated for an extra year added on at the end. People were asking yesterday why we would make this trade and give up prospects to do so, when we can sign a FA and keep all of our prospects. I suppose the answer would be because big name FA might not want to sign with us. While Arenado can stop any trade from happening, maybe he is sick of losing and would be willing to go to a winning team (in a bad division). Having an elite defensive third baseman also takes less pressure off SS, whether it is Polanco or whoever. Can you imagine his bat in the lineup for the next 7 years!? just dreaming.
  21. Does he have ANY chance of being the next Derek Lowe/Brandon Webb? Any comparisons to those 2 at all?
  22. Alright-time to shift gears. Sign Betances and a few other big RPs and turn into a bullpen team. 15 man pitching staff should do. Then load up on offense! Icing on the cake is we don't have to worry about signing/being disappointed about not signing starting pitcher free agents any more!
  23. I am a realist and realize we will more than likely not end up with Cole. But for some reason, it feels like this is a year we have a chance. There are a lot of really good FA out there, both pitching and position-wise. Would not be surprised if the Yankees sign Cole. But I would also not be surprised if they signed Rendon or Castellanos/Didi instead...or went the Strasburg route instead. There are only so many teams that afford Cole right now. We are one. If we are ever going to throw an offer out there for an elite ace, now is the time to do it. There are not many opportunities like this. If Wheeler signs before Cole does, we add other pieces. Bumgarner, Ryu, Keuchel, Gausman, Aaron Sanchez, ect. I do not see a huge difference between Wheeler and those others. I see a HUGE difference between Cole and everyone else. Like, the difference between winning playoff series and not. *I am leaving Strasburg out, not because I do not like him, but because I am paranoid of his injury history.
