  1. I don't know, man. This one seems like an even flip. The Twins stuck with Buxton through so many injuries and periods of poor play. I think the franchise has some equity on this one. I don't feel sorry for Buxton. He was paid handsomely by the Twins and could waive his no trade clause. As upset as I am after last Thursday, this topic doesn't register for me as a hot button.
  2. This franchise is stuck in mediocre status or worse for the foreseeable future. It's obvious the fan base cares more about on field results than the owners. What a sad state of affairs. I will keep watching and attending because of my love for the sport. Beyond that, I understand casual fans and even long term dedicated fans jumping ship.
  3. The entire fire sale at the trade deadline ordeal feels disingenuous as the front office has not addressed the salary dump aspect (at least from everything I've seen and heard). Falvey's interview on the Friday television broadcast was just stating the Twins haven't played well enough since the start of 2024, tough decisions, and the vast majority of the time he pumped up the new prospects acquired. At least give the fans some credit for having a bit of intelligence.
  4. Did you play in high school, college, town ball, or the minor leagues? I find everyone's playing journey interesting. If you are located in or near Minnesota and want to continue playing the sport, there is an age 50+ baseball league and also a 60+ baseball league. They use wood bats and it's a great chance to get out there and compete.
  5. I'm not sure why it's a wasted season. This is the ultimate team sport. Although the Twins are just on the fringes of wild card contention and appear to be sliding out of relevance, Buxton's contributions have mattered.
  6. I met George at the open tryouts for the Saints at CHS Field. I thanked him for giving me the chance to dream for an afternoon. He was really respectful and took the time to acknowledge my efforts even though I was in my early forties and just there to see what I could do with obviously no chance to make the squad. I also used to call and email questions to his weekly Saints show.
  7. Sometimes good things happen to good people and that seems to be the case here. Buxton deserves this success.
  8. Thank you again for the memories. I was there for all three of those 3,000th hit milestone games.
  9. Perhaps more Gardy era playoff success would have boosted some of the cases.
  10. Kirby Puckett is the greatest Twin. Perhaps a Field of Dreams 2 movie based on Bob Hegman's career?
  11. Buxton will get the one representative pity pick that will go to the Twins in 2025. It is good timing since the All Star game is in Buxton's home state.
  12. I can't disagree. Although I really want to point out that Cleveland just seems so darn lucky. I suppose the "luck" probably comes because of the factors you mentioned. It's just so darn infuriating to witness all the one run wins against the Twins.
  13. Thank you for the update. I actually didn't remember Maxwell, this was still interesting, though.
  14. Let's check in at Memorial Day and see how things look. Right now, it's too soon.
  15. The movie is better than solid double. It deserves its all-time great reputation. Funny story, when my wife and I were newly married it was the 'get Netflix DVDs in the mail' era (2010). I came home from work one day and she's holding a DVD with a big smile on her face. "Have you ever heard of the movie The Natural? It's about baseball." I wanted to act surprised, just couldn't though. It's been a marriage joke ever since.
  16. That Twins Pass is a sweet deal at $4 per game. I always wonder when I see the complaints about how expensive it is to attend Twins games if they know about the pass? I understand that you would need multiple passes to bring a family. If I were single with a less busy schedule, I'd be all over purchasing the Twins Pass. I have a Choice Membership and have to admit I'm a bit upset that they expanded the Twins Pass to include the home opener. I don't want to be a hater, it's just that the home opener option was one of the few benefits of the Choice plans over the Twins Pass.
  17. Oh wow, I played for Rosetown in the late 1980s and didn't hear anything about Mickey Rocco. The dad of one of my teammates played for Rosetown and they told me once that the dad's team won the state Legion title. I wonder if my teammate's dad played for Mickey Rocco's team? The timeline matches. I have some research and digging to do.
  18. "Do you vividly remember a player’s end like I did of Trombley when you just knew their time had come?" I know I've seen it many times before, I just can't think of any names right now.
  19. You won't exclude steroid cheaters yet would exclude a guy who gets a DWI or if you don't agree with his political views? I have no respect for that viewpoint and couldn't get beyond the introduction.
  20. I thought this was Randball Stu with the Rochester native Fritz Polka reference. However, the BB Ref link appears legitimate. Nice work, there was much deep dive interesting material here.
  21. The 5th most strikeouts all-time and it took 14 ballots for Bert to get the HOF nod. That's a bit extreme and seems like a joke. The guy had 94.5 WAR, 287 wins, and a 3.31 career ERA. Did the voters really not like giving up HRs that much?
