  1. So true. I'm guessing we get a look at Palka in September.
  2. 6 starting pitchers. I have to admit, when we started the 2016 draft by taking 4 hitters, I was shocked.
  3. The reason for our problems this season, have nothing to do will catcher. I would sign Suzuki for 1 year, and if push comes to shove 2. Paired with John Ryan Murphy, we will be fine as we move back into contention in 2017 and beyond.
  4. Mike, our favorite team is not sitting around waiting for calls, nor are any of the other 29 teams. Assuming one of the players you're thinking about is Santana, TR is in a win-win situation, with Santana at max value. Our scouting department, has long been considered one of the best in all of baseball, and I have no doubt, few have slept in their own beds for weeks. If TR pulls the trigger on Santana, the glass is half full members will be pleased with the return. Yesterday on Inside Twins, TR left little doubt we are looking for starting pitching, but I would assume he'll wait for the off-season when there will be less competition. I would guess we may move Plouffe, Santana, Polanco, or Park in that order, at the deadline.
  5. Gordon is the SS of the future, and since he will start next season at AA, fair chance we see him at some point in time next season. Nunez is insurance in case Brooks Sano can't stick at a premium position.
  6. Brooks Sano will be given until the end of the season minimum. I wouldn't have traded board scapegoat Nunez anyway, but he will become insurance for next season, once we trade board scapegoat Plouffe.
  7. No he didn't. King Theo was ready to rock and roll in 2015.
  8. When Berrios came up, I recall reading he was the 5th youngest player in the majors. How is it, the 5th youngest player in all of MLB has little or nothing to learn in AAA?
  9. Never happen. The billionaires are happy with the way the franchise is run, and the Pohlads can afford to look at the big picture. Ownership totally bought into the cyclical nature of mid-market teams, which in our case lasted from 2012-2014. We were in the hunt in 2015, and while 2016 has been frustrating and disappointing, it is most likely a mirage. Assuming our star power, by which I mean Sano, Buxton, and Kepler are ready to shine on day one in 2017, all will be forgiven and forgotten.
  10. I see Grossman/Rosario/Palka fighting it out for the 3rd and 4th outfield spots. Depth and competition is a good thing. Nice move by TR.
  11. Our favorite team is looking to win right now. Santana won't go unless they get a major haul. More likely is Plouffe and/or Polanco.
  12. The Pohlads totally bought into the rebuild of 2012-14. They aren't going to fire one of the most respected baseball minds of his generation for 3 poor months.
  13. Mike, I'm guessing they are showcasing him. I can see a package including Polanco getting us help for this season.
  14. You can get your information from the fan board, or from Terry Ryan. Let each member make their own decision.
  15. They got the player they needed to stay in the hunt, for pie in the sky. 29 games, 1.61 era, and a handful of saves.
  16. The fan board threw in the towel, at One Twins Way they are looking to get back to the success they had in 2015. They will not embark on a young movement, they will not attempt to trade all the board scapegoats, nor do they want the youngest team in baseball. I listen to Inside Twins every Sunday morning.
  17. They won't trade Nunez, because he's helping us win now, and is insurance in case Brooks Sano doesn't work out at 3B and is moved to full time DH in 2017. Polanco can't beat out Dozier, and we have other top prospects in the pipeline. I believe we will package Polanco with one of our better starting pitching prospects and make a trade this off season.
  18. Very unlikely TR will trade anyone in position to help win in 2016, with the exception of Plouffe. Any return in a trade will need to help us in 2016, or the very latest 2017.
  19. I really don't care one way or the other, because I believe he can be successful in either role, but feel they will have him close for the rest of the season. TR is looking to contend in 2017, and if May can fill the role of closer, one of the big question marks can be answered prior to the off season. If he's not lights out, I can see him being one of the inning eaters we need in 2017. His versatility makes him valuable, not unlike Kepler, and I would consider both close to untouchable.
  20. As King Theo would say, there is no such thing as a young free agent. I would prefer to say away from relievers in the decline phase and those requiring multi-year contracts.
  21. Berrios will be up in the near future. My guess is they want to try May at closer. If it's not successful, he'll get a change to win a spot in the rotation next season.
  22. How would you know that? Also, there are approximately 300-350 regular posters on this board. Of that group, 80% of the posts are by 20% of the members. That is hardly a representative example of the millions of loyal Twins fans out there.
  23. Our favorite team will not be embarking on a youth movement, will not be trying to trade all the board scapegoats, and does not want to be the youngest team in baseball.
