5 of our last 6 first rounders were high school kids. I don't recall a single word from our favorite team about "quick to the majors". That nonsense comes from the fan board. Also, I continue to hear crap about our drafting relievers high. Is there anyone on the board, able to see the big picture, critical of these picks? Hrbowski, could use your expertise here.
Dave, anyway you could keep us posted on Pinto, Arcia, Meyer, and Joe Benson? Also, weren't you the member who said Zack Jones would be the next David Ortiz? Let's keep our fingers crossed. This could be the year Berrios pitches game 163.
We were talking about the farm system. The 2012 draft was one of the strongest I recall, and every one since has given every indication it will be successful also. I'm sure I don't have to remind you a successful draft is defined as one which provides 2 contributors. I challenge you to provide anything thing at all in print that doesn't show our favorite team is among the best in IFA. Ben Balder at BA has always been very complimentary. Also, I'm sure you know most IFA signing are 16 years old. You wouldn't expect to see those signed in the past 5 years in the majors.
The old sheriff said on many occasions, every time he approached ownership about additional funds it was approved. No reason to believe the new sheriff is operating under different constrains. The point is a bad contract was eliminated, and we have plenty of money to spend.
I hate to see it, but expect Buxton to be sent down shortly. We're close to .500, pitching and defense has been better than expected. Need the bats to get going.
Miss Nolasco do you? I was thinking about the money it freed up. Who said anything about 3 good starts? He's had a nice career and I figure will get 3 years and 25-30M in free agency.
On Inside Twins, they said the move to the pen is not permanent. He is still working on a change up. On another note, at this point in time Gonsalves only has 2 dependable pitches.
Depth is a good thing. We will hear from Murphy in the future. He spent parts of 3 seasons with the Yanks and Hicks was easy to replace. Catching is certainly not the black hole it once was and he is still young enough.
Personally, I'm happy I don't understand all the moves. Looks like the new regime is not going to just connect the dots. Like Brock said about moving Jay to the pen, the new management team is looking at things differently. For those who acknowledge learning the game of baseball is a lifetime pursuit, this is a great time to learn.
We will know more at the trade deadline, but a fair assumption is they are looking to contend in 2018. If they decide they want to institute a new 5 year plan, they can still deal Dozier and Ervin at anytime.
