  1. We should wait till the end of the season. He was a top 100 prospect on at least one list during the off-season. Nothing has changed except he has gotten off to a bad start. What's 30 days or so for a 22 year-old. Jay throws 96-98 and I read somewhere has the best slider in the organization. Why judge or label him while he is injured? He's 22 or 23. I agree we don't have the star power we have had in the past. I like our depth. At some point in time pitching becomes a numbers game, and with our AA arms I believe the numbers are on our side over time.
  2. Why would I say it if I don't believe it? Read my lips. We are much, much closer to the end of the rebuild than the beginning.
  3. Can't disagree with that, but the crux of the topic is about our current farm system. To consider Stewart and an injured Jay as bad picks, is totally off base, yet several have said as much. We will see both at Target Field
  4. 2006-2011 is ancient history.
  5. Very convincing!
  6. I beg to differ. We are 19-15 and in first place. We are much, much closer to the end of the rebuild than the beginning.
  7. Falvey on Inside Twins said they will continue to work the edges of the roster. I took this to mean, they are basically content with the core. King Theo would call a waiver claim such as Wilk or a trade pickup such a Chapman, small moves. I wouldn't read too much into them.
  8. Trading Santana and Dozier for pie-in-the-sky means we are probably looking at 2020 or so to compete. We are in the hunt as we speak and I am enjoying every minute of it. I distinctly recall, you were one of the members screaming the loudest in 2013 and 2014 that we had to win now. Why are you finally embracing, and why would you extend the rebuild in year 6.
  9. I did see an article on this very board, which showed we were the second youngest team in baseball at 25.8 years-old. It was weighted by playing time as I recall.
  10. So why is the board screaming for them? Burdi, Melotakis, Chargois. Duffey worked out well. Appears to me to be a very sound strategy.
  11. They are competing for the division right now. 19-14, first place.
  12. We have a new regime, don't expect them to do everything the same. Is Burdi the new Berrios? The board started screaming for Berrios on partically a daily basis in August, 2105. A mere 21 months later he gave us the first indication he belongs in The Show.
  13. Who ever said that didn't even bother to draft him. He missed all last season with a mysterious ailment. We waited for Berrios, we can wait for Burdi.
  14. I would like him to leadoff. I would surround Sano with Dozier and Vargas.
  15. 17-14. Last year at this time we had members posting we would lose 115+ games.
  16. I'm starting to warm up on Vargas. We need a bomber behind Sano when they pitch around him.
  17. I agree. I was hoping the arms would do better, because at some point in time this year, I believe they will become our emergency depth. Burdi should be on the move in the not too distant future.
  18. My hope is that when Seth and Jeremy are asked to join the FO, folks will understand what a great job the search committee did. Even Theo didn't win a World Series in his first 6 months.
  19. Excellent example of hindsight. I would trade pie-in-the-sky for proven vets all day long. Hu was somewhere around our 15-20th prospect when we moved him. Guys like him are a dime a dozen.
