  1. I wasn't aware he threw that hard. Is so, he fits.
  2. No team in the history of baseball, has thrown in the towel when they are only 2 games out of first this early in the season.
  3. What is magical about being 6 games ahead of the division? No doubt they will be buyers as long as they can stay within spitting distance of the lead.
  4. They are reassigning their top scouts to prepare for the trade deadline. They will also be evaluating our own prospects in case someone is interested. I didn't hear anything about us wanting to add prospects. Sounds to me, we are in a win now mode. Also, Hughes will probably come back as a multi-inning reliever at some point in time and I believe Santiago will have a rehab start as early as Tuesday. Levine wouldn't commit to where and more than 1 start may be required.
  5. It only makes sense for a new regime to spent some time evaluating the roster. So far they have spent not quite half a season. Curtiss doesn't fit the mold of the hard throwers the team desires. Burdi missed all of last season. The usage of those 3 proves nothing. I look for them to open up the farm system shortly.
  6. Stewart has pitched all of 24 innings this year before being injured and I am more than aware that many successful pitchers are not strikeout pitchers. Berrios is shining, Gonsalves is on deck, and Stewart is in the hole.
  7. I would love it if they would take Romero and Jorge, but believe they will want Thorpe as one of the two. I consider Gonsalves and Stewart to be untouchable, but would listen to offers on our other top pitching prospects.
  8. All the best players also. Let's see if I can get this thru. LaVelle recently reported in the Strib that TR was in charge of international scouting when Sano, Kepler, and Polanco were signed.
  9. Good catch that we only drafted 3 lefties. It's been an organizational weakness for some time, that Rob Antony finally addressed at last year's trade deadline. I'm convinced we will package several of our top young arms and trade for a proven vet at the deadline, yet view Gonsalves, Thorpe, Jay, and Melotakis as all but untouchable.
  10. Let's hear it for the search committee.
  11. Rosario. Chargois and Burdi, may well be here, but are injured. No doubt you will see some shiny new things before much longer.
  12. We have 2 ultra reliable starters. Foolish to spent 100-150M on an ace. Time to start thinking about signing Sano, Buxton, etc. to long term contracts.
  13. The Braves 2016 draft, doesn't match up with our 2012 draft.
  14. Pressly has been a major disappointment, but could be the power arm we need. Twinkietown did an article on him last year which stated he has the best breaking pitches of anyone in the pen. Let's hope for a Berrios-type rebound. His stuff is that good.
  15. My best guess is we will package 2 of our AA arms to get a proven starting pitcher at the deadline. During the off season, I believe we will sign a free agent in the 3 year, 45-50M range. Having the front of the rotation set with Santana and Berrios is huge. We have the money and prospects to fill out 3,4,5.
  16. The way I look at it is, they have been in the hunt 2 of the last 3 years.
  17. Correct me if I'm wrong, but the only Boras guys I'm aware of are Alex Meyer and Eades.
  18. How is this different than the board members who want to trade Santana and Dozier?
  19. Let's see them put together a IFA class like we did in 2009.
  20. I have time to wait and see this steep drop off. 32-26, first place.
  21. 31-26, first place. Plenty of time for the shiny new things if and when the season goes south.
