  1. That's like saying Sam Bradford is a $20 million quarterback when healthy. Maybe he is, but it's irrelevant. If he does that a couple times between now and FA, then you'll be right. But if he doesn't (which is more likely) then he'll be lucky to find one team willing to do so (who are the Arizona Cardinals of MLB)?
  2. On Joe Mauer day, 6/15, the Twins won to go 25 over .500 for the first time since 2010. Since then, they are 12-16.
  3. Let him earn it then. I don't see teams lining up to pay him $20 million year for multiple years.
  4. Brutal loss. I'll be shocked if we're still in 1st on 7/31. I'd take 1-3 over the next four at this point.
  5. At the moment, I have the 2nd most confidence in Littell. Which is scary. Send help, Falvine.
  6. Wow. Hard pass on that. I'm not paying $20 million per year for a guy who will likely never play more then 120 games. And his offense makes it unlikely he'll get $10 million/year in arbitration. I'd be willing to go something like 4/$44 starting at $8 million/year and escalating $2 million per year. Buying out two FA years for $26 million.
  7. Although they didn't need the dog and pony show, I think it's good they put the candidates in tiers and then drew the line-up rather than putting all 20 at random.
  8. "Must resist the urge to call Punto and talk him out of retirement."
  9. They're routinely using Rodgers for 2 inning saves. There's no way they can justify standing pat. And I know FO's don't listen to the fan base, but there will be a very high level of outage if they do nothing.
  10. If the right want to criticize "the Squad" politics that's fine. I don't agree with most of their political positions either. But instead they just pull quotes out of context and claim they're America hating radicals. There's no point in even in engaging the discussion. They're 4 members on the far left of one party. They don't have any real power. The GOP just needs a boogey-man and they're an easy target.
  11. This felt like a potential season saver and hopefully it was.
  12. I hope Rosario's absence is because Rocco's sending Eddie a message and not giving him a "scheduled off day."
  13. The answer is clear and you've all been missing it: Matt Belisle. He's tanned, rested and ready. It'll be just like making a trade. Only better.
  14. Sano's days at 3B are numbered. He's already brutal there and it's going to get worse not better, IMO. As a 1B/DH hitting .270 with 35 HR's (which I think is his ceiling) is nice, but it's not nearly as valuable. Hitting .240 with 25 HR's which is more likely isn't worth much at all. I'll take Escobar. As for the age difference, I don't see Sano being on this team past his service time either way.
  15. It has to do with it because it would be illogical to say "I'll spend millions adding a bar to the stadium, but I won't let you increase payroll by 5% in a trade that might help us win the division. which many here seem to believe.
  16. I like how he's now trying to walk it back. Asked why he didn't try to stop the chants he said he did and began talking very quickly. In reality he stood there for 13 seconds beaming at the chants. He thinks he can lie about things that are right there on video. Because he can. No one cares.
  17. I don't have a list in front of me, but they've done more than invest in bars. Also, it's not like they get all of that revenue. The stadium commission still gets their cut. More to the point, the bars are pretty popular with fans, no?
  18. I haven't seen updated #'s and I know they make more off FSN now, but still below league average. I do recall that going into the stadium, the $120-ish million payroll is what they could afford and still break even. Obviously it should be a bit higher 10 years later, but they also don't sell out every game anymore. My guess is that $130-$140 million payroll would be there break-even point so if they're clearing anything it's $20 million or less. Certainly not $100. As for appreciation of the value of the team, that's arbitrary until you find a buyer.
  19. They have minimum annual commitments in the stadium legislation to pay so much for upkeep, but they have gone far beyond that so far.
  20. I'm not so sure about that, and he certainly has a much lower floor. I would do that trade. He also may not be cheaper. 3 years of Escobar at $7 million vs 3 years of arbitration. Sano probably makes more, even with mediocre production.
  21. So...you're advocating firing the manager in year 1, while 22 games over .500?
  22. My patience with Sano is nearly gone. Even as his bat is somewhat better, he has been awful in the field. If we can use him to get some pitching, by all means, trade him.
  23. Magill has options doesn't he? In any event, today makes DFA'ing a guy with an ERA in the 3's a bit more of a head scratcher.
  24. Since losing those two to Baltimore, they're 8-0 against teams with losing records. Suggesting they can go 9-3 is not a stretch.
  25. It feels like a slow leak that is going to get worse at least for the next week. The front office really needs to make a move and inject some life in the clubhouse ASAP.
