  1. The opposite of love is indifference. The outrage over the fire sale shows that fans still care. But the Pohlad's are now driving us toward indifference. Once that happens it's very hard to get them back. I disagree that changing leadership doesn't qualify as a demonstrative action. As much as we hate the Pohlads, the Twins still had the highest payroll in the division the last couple years. They didn't fail because of $$. They failed because Derek Falvey is a bad GM. He deserves to be fired. And Rocco with him.
  2. They will eventually be forced to sell if they average 10K and under the next year or two. I'm certainly not giving them any $$.
  3. MLB negotiated for all the teams it's doing production for, so it's probably not a complete collapse from what they paid Bally's. But I'm guessing they went from $54 million in 2023 to $44 million in 2024, so around $30 million in local TV this year. If it wasn't a multi-year deal, they might get another haircut next year. My suspicion on the long-term is that the Yankees/Dodgers/Red Sox/Cubs will balk at the Amazon proposal and it will significantly hurt the $$ the other 26 clubs can get, even if they eventually go that route. I have no faith in Manfred to strong-arm them into it.
  4. This isn't Carl Pohlad against some poor farmer widow trying to save her farm from foreclosure. I'm sure he won all of those.
  5. This is not a Constitutional issue. It's a very straight forward black and white lease with an end date and strict provisions and penalties for breaking it. And the other parties are the state of Minnesota and Hennepin county. I don't think the Pohlad's have some massive power advantage in this matter.
  6. That seems to be more for getting away with criminal acts, not breaking leases.
  7. Only if you have fresh, innovative ideas to share with Joe Pohlad as he seeks collaboration.
  8. Contract law still exists. The Twins lease is pretty iron clad. Plus what motive does a Minnesota judge have to allow such a thing? You're reaching.
  9. They still have linear distribution on most of the same places Bally's is (Comcast/DirecTV etc.), so it could get worse. There is large uncertainty if MLB is going to be able to get enough teams on board to take the full rights to Amazon/Netflix etc. That will likely raise/equalize the media $$ but it might not happen.
  10. I suspect there is a local group with actual $$ buying ~25% or so and maybe Mauer is in that group but not the the main source of $$.
  11. Mauer is the only former player who is likely to have enough $$ to own anything more than a token %.
  12. Reusse said that initially then backed off. But clearly ownership had to sign off on the Correa move. I think the rest were all Falvey pretty much.
  13. Possible. But I don't think they actually own banks anymore, that was the old man. And there isn't really any net benefit to playing that game if you own 100% of both entities.
  14. Yeah. Relocation is a non-issue with this. I'm not saying it can never happen. But not in the next 15 years.
  15. Meh. We already played that game 30 years ago. It would make far more sense to move the Rays or Marlins there or an expansion team.
  16. They would not be able to break the lease, and even if they could MLB is not leaving teams in Tampa, Miami and Sacramento but abandoning the 15th media market.
  17. Besides Vegas, the closest thing they have is Portland or Nashville. They're not leaving MSP for those markets.
  18. They can't move until at least 2040. That's not going to happen. Not to mention the A's and Rays sagas show MLB doesn't really have any place to go. They're not leaving the 15th media market.
  19. I'd assume AI wrote it. A free version, not one you pay for of course.
  20. This announcement is another example of him not knowing what he's doing. They shouldn't have said anything until they were ready to announce who the new partner's were and then played that up as much as possible even if they are keeping 50%+ of the team.
