While a team normally shouldn't let what fans think influence things, this is likely an exception. The Twins standing with the MN fan base was at an all-time low to start the season. It's recovered only marginally. If they were to sell again while being 1 game out of the play-offs, followed by a work stoppage, the damage might be such that they never recover and become the A's circa the last 15 years.

I'm sure it's not their preference, but they need Jeffers. As long as it's not done 30 minutes before the deadline, they can get other bullpen help with the prospects they were going to offer us.

The trades I would make: Jeffers and Taylor Rogers to the Yankees for Brett Headrick and Paul Blackburn Dasan Hill and Matt Wallner for Freddy Peralta.
  4. howeda7
    Rather have Headrick and Blackburn.
  5. howeda7
Larnach isn't a must trade. Bringing him back as the primary DH in 2027 is fine.

Bad loss to a bad team. Bell, Lewis and Caratini are regressing hard. I'd dump Bell for anything of value.

    Unclutch Buxton again.
  8. howeda7
    Buxton up with RISP. Ugh.

    Season on the brink...

Trade Jeffers for whatever you can get. If we are in it on July 30th add a couple mid level bullpen arms. If we are out of it, trade Bell and Rogers for lottery tickets. There's no reason to go full sell mode or trade top 10 prospects for a likely pipe dream this year.

This might be the end of the Woo Suk Go era.
  12. howeda7
Or now is the time to strike for an extension...
  13. howeda7
Joe Ryan is broken. Trade him while he still has value I guess.
  14. howeda7
Ryan should have pitched on Saturday so he could start in both series of the road trip instead of rusting.
  15. howeda7
We know this how? If he goes through arbitration next year and makes ~$12 million, and then $25 million/year the next 3 years as a free agent, that's still less than a 4/$92 extension.

Bad loss to a bad team.
  17. howeda7
Sign Joe Ryan (4 years $92 million) and Pabo (2 years/$40 million) to extensions. Trade Jeffers. Add two relievers, at least one with 2027 control.

He's awful at SS. The only value he had was his bat and he's OPS'ing .500 the last month. There's zero reason to have him on the roster over Arcia/Culpepper and even less excuse for playing him every day.
  19. howeda7
PLEASE get Gray and Orze off this roster. There's no reason keep terrible older players at this point.
  20. howeda7
Agreed, but if Gray goes it has to be for Culpepper. Gray, Adams and Fedko out. Culpepper, Rojas and Roden in.
  21. howeda7
That was the play of the game right there. Caratini has mostly been good on challenges, but not using one there was inexplicable.
  22. howeda7
Please get Adams off this roster. Call up both Culpeppers.
  23. howeda7
5-1 eh? We finally stopped the count!
  24. howeda7
Bell is who he is. He will go back to April/May Bell eventually. I don't hate holding onto Larnach but they have such a glut of corner OF and now they're probably converting Keashall there too. They probably end up non-tending him in November so they should trade him if there's anything more than a lottery ticket being offered.
  25. howeda7
This series kind of showed the folly of going all in for this year. They're not awful but they're nowhere near a playoff team. I would split the difference and trade Jeffers, Bell and maybe Larnach but try to add some controllable bullpen help and hold Buxton and Ryan and focus on trying to win in 2027.
