    Heh.... I was at the game at Shea the first time he came to NY since the woebegone SI article came out. Those fans were out for blood, and it was packed in the stands overlooking the bullpen area. They had cops lining the whole section, and wouldn't let anyone near the fence along the BP. Rocker came out between innings at one point to warm up the left fielder, and I never heard such a cascade of Bronx cheers (albeit in Queens). After the warmup throws, he casually tossed the ball into the stands as a souvenir, and the guy who caught it fired it right back at him. He earned a ton of cheers, and a helpful escort out of the park by the boys in blue.

    Well. Just got to work, and checked out the score.... Started about as well as all Twins games against that evil empire. Well, back to vocabulary lessons, then, without being distracted. Or even hopeful. Bit of a pessimist, I guess, eh? NO! I ain't givin' up! Come on, boys! MOIDER DEM YANKS!!! Moider 'em, I tell ya's....!

    I have to concur wholeheartedly with this. How many times over the Molly years has this subject been bandied about, beaten to death, dragged out of its mildewing grave and thrashed yet again? He doesn't ride the hot bat, or the hot arm because that's just what he does. Or doesn't. Pull the plug on a veteran pitcher who's running on fumes? Nah. Pull the plug on a youngster (if he even gets to play), before he gets a chance to work a situation out? Yep. Hit guys 3-4 in the lineup who are in season-long slumps? You betcha. My gosh, that's what the 7-8 spot is for, fer cryin' out loud. Getting swept by a team that's already tanked its season? Well, that's what happens, I guess.

    It is absolutely nuts over here- a country nearly exactly the same size as the US, with only 1 time zone (decreed by Mao in the late 40's as a push for "national unity," fer God's sake)... Imagine if LA, SF and west coast had to be on the same time as NYC- what a mess. Fortunately, in HK we have our own time, but are directly south of Beijing, so it doesn't really matter. But man, would it suck to be in the west. They've tried it a few times, but it just led to chaos, as each province and sometimes cities just went on their own time.     Dominant starting pitching- Twins version- fun to watch. And a long time coming. We've seen it a lot, but usually on the other side.

    Well, classes and such today, but checking in-- WS have a wild man on the mound today, 4BB and 80+ pitches thru 5- and yet it's only 2-0. Don't like it. It's quiet. Too quiet. Come on, bats.
