    Ha- early class done, now I've got a break to check out the action. Wow, Berrios stepping up big time this morning! But.... so is Anibel Sanchez?!? Bats gotta get going, but whoa, with all the dings and dents, looking at this lineup... It looks like a good ol' Molly Mish-Mash from seasons past. Come on, Twins!     Big congrats from afar, and very impressed you were able to put cogent thoughts about baseball together only mere hours after the nuptials! Your contributions help make this site a very special corner of the inter-nets. And many good wishes to you both. This beautiful song from The Boss popped into my head when I read your intro. Enjoy:

    I gotta harken back to the old Joe DiMaggio quote, when asked why he busted his butt on every single play, even late in the season, with nothing on the line. He said, in effect, that there was probably somebody in those stands who had never been to a game before, never seen him play, and may not go again, and he didn't want that person to see him dogging it, and have that be their memory. I switched over to the Cleveland broadcast to see what they were about, and they were totally roasting Puig, even moreso than Dick. They were really getting on him about being in crucial games in a pennant race, and acting like that, and they were speculating on what Francona was going to do or say, too. I like what he did, though. He had a quick word with Puig, and then he let his dugout leader, Santana, take him off to the side and deal with him. They had a looooong, and very one-sided conversation. I would have pulled him from the game, if I were Tito, but to his credit, he didn't, and Puig came through with good at bats afterward. He most certainly deserved every single boo, though, and then some. What a crappy example for every fan who busts his or her fanny all week, to spend an honest dime to go to a game; fans who can only dream about spending their working life on a ball field, and see a pro athlete behave like that. It's an insult to hard-working folks everywhere.

    Well, once again, Cleveland defeated Rochester, and Clevinger pitched a gem, just as ace-type belly-itchers are supposed to do in a pennant crunch. But holy heck, I'm wondering if Clevinger and Hunter Wood and their scraggly mullets each live in vans down by the river, or if they share just one?

    I'm going for all 7, right in a row. Gawd, how much does that suck? Our one starter who, in the 2nd half has been strong and getting stronger, the one guy who's been taking his turn and doing something positive with it... This is what I don't get: You're a pro athlete for many years. You have access to the best medical maintenance professionals and substances on somebody else's dime. You know, and have seen teammates and others get pinged for this. And somehow, you're still going to put something in your body where the sales pitch is some dude saying, "Pssst, hey buddy..." What is it the kids say these days? SMFH.

    alright, as much as I dislike Cleveland's lame broadcast team, I'm switching over. I'm tired of Dick's begging and pleading for baserunners. It's just cloying, and annoying.

    Remy and the Red Sox booth were commenting on that at the end, how good the Twins D was throughout the series. They're homers, as usual, but the kind of homers who give deserved kudos to their opponents. They were actually a pleasure to listen to this series.

    Welp... We got shut down by somebody's Ace. It happens. Our "Ace" on the other hand.... It's too bad this September schedule wasn't flipped a bit- 1st 2 weeks are all tough teams, last 2 weeks are the bottom-feeders of the Central. If it were the other way around, it would have been perfect to rest Berrios and Gibby, and maybe even Pineda for a turn, then tune up for potential playoffs. But really can't rest those guys against BoSox, Washington, and Cleveland. Get 'em tomorrow, boys. We've got 7 more against the Tribe to come, I'd love to stay at least 5 up before we take 'em on again.

    Jeepers creepers. I know it's been a long night for everybody, umps included-- But there's simply no excuse for that strike call on Tortuga. That's just disgraceful.
