  1. forgot how to run to first and his body lost muscle memory? :-)
  2. why was Escobar pulled? who is left on the bench??
  3. Hard to believe defense affects pitching. Even something barely important like corner defense :-)
  4. Nice play by Joe. If he doesn't cut that off, guy likely scores. BTW, someone needs PFP.
  5. Not sure if I remember correctly, but if I do, I had one of their pizzas (it was definitely someone's) at a Kiosk at Ohare one time while I was waiting for a connecting flight and I liked it so much I sent one to my dad. They kept it chilled and flew it out to him (deliveries like that were normal, part of their service, many people have pizzas delivered). Cost me quite a bit but he was appreciative since he's originally from Chicago.
  6. Nice play by Cabrera. That's a double against most LF. Seems this game, corner defense has mattered.
  7. It's the kind of play that gets high school players kicked off their team. Gets even HS managers to sya things like, 'If you've gone this far in baseball already and haven't figured out that doing that is boneheaded, then you're gone' :-)
  8. So Murphy got optioned, who is our backup catcher? BTW, wasn't Murphy supposed to push Suzuki for playing time and pretty much take over the starting job by season's end? Be prepared to welcome Suzuki back next year.
  9. And he's going to stop being good this year during this particular start?
  10. 'I asked Pohlad why he has resisted the urge to make wholesale changes in organizational philosophy. “I don’t know what the difference in philosophy that people would like to see,” he said. “Everybody had universally high expectations for this season relative to last season. We bought into that. I still don’t see any flaw in that. It’s just system failure.”' Everyone had universally high expectations? And, BTW, there were huge flaws into buying into that. If the owner(s) and management bought into that, they weren't looking too deeply at the team assembled and how the numbers they had last year didn't support the record they had last year.
  11. Seth, I thought I read an article by you before the season started or maybe it was just some comments, that said you thought we would be serious division contenders this season. Am I remembering correctly?
  12. I'm sorry, but this is a poorly constructed team. That's on Ryan. Molitor has made a lot of boneheaded moves, but Ryan has made some questionable calls too.
  13. 'I think he will be more than fine. He has to be as good as Span, better than Revere (whom everyone seems to hate, but the guy gets on base and steals them...what more can you ask there)' Span is very under-rated. He was as a Twin by both the fan base and the media. He still is in a lot of ways. Revere has only recently started getting on base at a decent clip. His career OBP is still under .330 and 24 points below Span's career OBP. And even if one really cared about SBs, he's also only eclipsed 30 SBs once. And Span was always the better CF (even before taking into account Revere's noodle arm). Span just isn't flashy and doesn't have a big smile. I'm not sure there's any way to say that, as an overall player, Buxton HAS to be as good as Span. I'd be happy with that and not sure he'll ever get there.
  14. I was there. In person. The 2nd game of a split double header. I had fantastic seats, but drank a bit too much between games and every half inning it was off to the bathroom. Edit, nope. Not his first game. My bad. His 4th start. Sorry.
  15. I'm waiting for when there will be too many true quality pitchers. Going to be a long time.
  16. Yeah, I couldn't disagree more. He's a reliever now for as long as he's a Twin and probably for his career (since he'll be pigeonholed by the time he reaches FA). He got put in the bullpen last season in favor of lesser pitchers staying in the bullpen (including a guy with no future with us) and the same thing happened this year. Ryan barely did anything to address the bullpen because he plans on May being a bullpen guy regardless of the rhetoric the team spoke about him getting a chance to be a starter.
  17. Do you have some examples, that you would share, where you believe questioning Ryan and Molitor is valid? I'd be interested in reading them. In regards to this, bringing up Meyer for relief help and letting him sit for 8, 9 days is ridiculous. If they were going to starting him on Tuesday, they could have called him up Sunday or so and, in the meantime, actually bring up a pitcher to help the bullpen until then.
  18. Dallas K is not having a good season so far.
  19. yeah, when an umpire misses a call right in the middle of the strike zone, that's bad.
