  1. Santana has given up 8 earned runs in the first inning this year.
  2. Cookie Dough Blizzard....Yes Please ;-)
  3. by 'rips a couple' you mean HR, right? :-)
  4. There is no guarantee at all that even if Meyer becomes a useful pitcher that he would have done so with us. Just like I doubt Ortiz becomes the player he became if he stayed with us. Sometimes players just aren't the right fit for some teams, whatever.
  5. I think I said 'B' Yup, double checked and said solid B.
  6. Thing is, the bar was set so low, that having as much action as we did was fun to watch. Bars being set low happens a lot with this team. Think about the offseason before 2010. Got Hardy, Thome and Hudson and people were crazy happy. It wasn't REALLY all that big of a deal, but for us it was like Xmas time. More recently, people have gotten super-excited over Rosario's rookie year and Escobar. I mean, seriously, doesn't take much to get our fan-base humming a sweet tune. Like you said, it moved us towards the right direction even if not everything was done that should have been done. And it's way more than I think our recently departed GM would have done.
  7. Victory is mine, victory is mine. Great day in the morning, people, victory is mine. I drink from the keg of glory, Donna. Bring me the finest muffins and bagels in all the land.
  8. Meyer is now his new team's 12th ranked prospect. This team has the worst farm system in baseball.
  9. I can't imagine Ervin Santana would clear waivers,
  10. Q: out of all the trades the pirates trading Fran and spects are the most puzzling. Jeff Sullivan: Did you see the Hector Santiago trade?
  11. Most people Meyer's size aren't frontline starters. Not sure why that is. Maybe they have hard time consistently getting the ball in the low part of the zone, I don't know. There's obviously one glaring exception to the rule, but most people aren't inner circle HOF type pitcher like Big Unit.
  12. Yeah, it's mostly about positional adjustments. It's why even the best 1Bs have negative DEFs (but 19 shortstop has positive DEFs). Only one 1B has a positive DEF this year, for example.
  13. there is zero risk to putting anyone on waivers at this point. it's done to gauge interest most of the time, and they are easily pulled back. could put the whole team on there and there would be zero risk.
  14. Indians did pretty well in getting Miller (last night not withstanding), and I see most sites recognizing that and declaring them as one of the deadline winners.
  15. What IS the color of skeptical? is it a mix between green and orange? :-)
  16. yeah, you never know, he could end up being flipped in the offseason or trade deadline next year. it's not like this guy has been horrible his whole career, just tends to walk a few more than we like around here :-)
  17. does it really matter? Did we want to keep watching Nolasco? I know I didn't. So it's a trade I like.
  18. Dave Cameron called it the weirdest trade of the day (year). I'm fine with it because Nolasco is gone and because we won't need a GPS tracker to know where Meyer is at any given time ;-)
  19. yeah, I had a ton of problems being able to access any thread as well.
  20. what do you think a mediocre pitcher like Gibson would get us? Oh, and how would we be selling high on him?
