    Grossman's .360+ OBP is helpful. What's strange, though, is that Sano is going to be limited to DH. So if Grossman plays, it's in the OF, hurting the defense.

    Gibson needs to go. A few good starts doesnt erase all the bad this year or last (or mostof his career).Let someone else make the mistake of rostering him next year. And Buxton and Gibson struggles are nothing alike. One is what. 8 years older than the other?

    Twins have plenty of #5 starters. Always hearing about how this pitcher and that pitcher are fine for #5 pitchers. We cant use that reasoning for multiple guys who are actively pitching in the rotation. :-)

    Last year for QUALIFYING AL 1Bs, Moreland WAS 2nd in AL with 7 DRS, his UZR WAS 1st at 6.7, his UZR/150 WAS 1st at 9.2, and his RnGR WAS 1st at 5.0. So all four of those were right. Now, if we expand it to players with only 700 or more innings, 13 AL 1Bs show up; however, three of Morelands ranks stay the same, the only one that changes is RnGR from 1st to 2nd. So the paragraph WAS right cause these ranking have to include players who played enough for the ranking to mean anything. Park barely had 200 innings at 1B, and Shaw didn't reach 300 innings. Voters SHOULDN"T take their performances into any kind of consideration nor should anyone doing an article. Gold glove consideration for only 162 innings for position players would be a HORRIBLE idea. That's not even 20 games.

    Either way, point is the same. If you remember people were minimizing/discarding the defense value of thee WAR, say, Sano/Hunter when the metrics were bringing down the perceived value of both. And in some cases, Rosario this year.

    Oh, it's not the first time I've read comparison's between the two. I never said it was. You''re making arguments and taking shots on things I haven't come close to saying But I've consistently said those comparisons were ridiculous (not to mention unfair to Buxton), especially when Buxton was just a minor league prospect. In any event, whether I've read the comparisons or not, doesn't make the comparisons any less ridiculous especially now that it's not looking at minor league prospect great Buxton, but actual major league player Buxton. The starts of their careers are not alike. Buxton might get close to Trout level eventually(meaning consistently great, not streaky great, for 6 straight years), but let's not put those expectations on Buxton. I've been wanting people to stop putting those expectations on Buxton for a very long time right now. It's not fair. Players like Trout are so VERY rare.

    Is everyone now all in favor of using Fangraphs' WAR (which uses the ever controversial defensive metric gobbly-gook that boosts Buxton so far up) cause it shows how great Buxton is? Even posters who are so against advanced stats (especially defensive metrics that supposedly get overvalued and miscalculated), being used in any baseball argument :-) Seriously, Buxton has been great and is a valuable player. It's fun to watch him and it's just the tip of the iceberg.

    Yeah, I seriously doubt I'm in the minority (and don't care if I am, anyway). And I never said Buxton won't be exciting. He is now. I'm a fan, but the start of his career so far doesn't come close to mirroring Trout's. and Trout getting knocked out right before his debut didn't happen so that hypothetical is just grasping for straws. You said the starts to their career are similar, and they aren't. Not close. Oh, and how did Bux get the concussion again?

    You mean, like when Trout was a 20 year old rookie, won ROY, a silver slugger award, finished 2nd in MVP and was actually deserving of MVP? Yeah, at 19, Trout started slow in his first 40 games. At Bucks age he had three 2nd place MVP finishes and a MVP award. The starts to their careers are nothing alike, other than they both play CF.

    I've gotten to the point where I watch every game my NFL team plays and just a handful of other ones. It has to be a great match-up for me to watch an NFL game in which my team doesn't play. Same thing with college football. I have two college teams and I watch as much of those games as I can, and few others. Hockey has turned into my second favorite sport to watch. I watch a lot of different teams, though the Wild and Sharks are my favorite. Baseball is the only sport where I enjoy watching almost any two teams play (though, obviously, I have the Twins and my favorite NL team I watch more than others).
