    First time I went to a pub in London I asked for a screwdriver. bartender took my order and jump out from behind the bar and went into an office. Came out a couple minutes later with an actual screwdriver :-)

    Here is Grossman's line from 2013-2015. .240/.327/.341 (that's an OPS of 668, from a corner OF). He had a wRC+ of 91 (again, from a corner OF). before taking into account his poor defense, that's bad offense from a corner OF. And for those who care, his fWAR for that time frame was 0.5.

    That OBP is heavily influenced by an out of character first half this year. And defense matters too (or should). But yes, he's a 4th/5th OF type. Unfortunately, Rosario is also a 4th OF type.

    Robbie Grossman didn't just start playing MLB this year. He was called up in 2013 and got decent playing time and then got quite a bit of playing time in 2014. Neither year was good. Then he took an even worse header in 2015 causing him to be released. We don't just have this year to see what kind of player he is. Also, one doesn't need to look at the metrics and say his defense isn't good. All they have to do is watch him. The eye test and metrics match. Anyway, he's coming back down to the player he has always been after an enjoyable first half.

    Ok, well, Jason Werth and Bryant are both an inch taller and 35-40 pounds lighter than Sano, and Bryant wasn't thrown out there and told you're an OF now (or for a whole season) like was the plan for Sano. See Bryant is actually a very good fielding 3B (unlike Sano), so only when other IF need to get some time in (because the Cubs are actually loaded with legitimate positional talent) does he go to OF. And when names like Carlos Less and Dunn (who, BTW, played OF in the minors exclusively unlike Sano who never played it) are pulled out as examples of successful fielding in the OF, well, you just got to wonder how far you're willing to go to try...

    Bryant is an inch taller and 35-40 pounds lighter than Sano. Bryant is the same height as Jason Heyward (who plays a mean OF), but actually 10 pounds lighter. Bryant was also not thrown out there and told OF is now your permanent home for the season.

    besides us. I can see us doing it.

    that or it shows that all major leaguers make great plays here and there. He IS great on coming in on soft hit, slow grounders and throwing. There are other times when people have raved about a play that is routine for most 3B Our announcers are good at that.

    'Sano in right as a mistake.Schwaber is built along the same lines as Sano. Shorter, but about the same BMI.Can't find where people thought Epstien and Maddon were idiots. The all Star Bryant does not always play 3b, he gets to play OF Jeezo, those Cubs must sure be idiots.' Sano is only 35, 40 pounds heavier than Schwarber (BMI doesn't matter, that's 35-40 more pounds to get moving out there. Has there been a heavier OF given a starting OF job. Pretty sure there hasn't) and Sano, unlike Schwarber, had no time in the minors as an OF. With the exception of those things, their situations are exactly alike.... Tons of fans said the idea of putting Sano out in the OF was ridiculous right from the start, and he ended up being horrible out there. For those people who want to continue to think it was a well conceived idea from the Twins braintrust, that's on them. It's kind of like faith.

    If you read my post in regards to the post I was responding to, I wasn't pinpointing Gordon as the one who makes Escobar a non-factor. We were talking about Polanco and whether or not he should be traded. I think Escobar in no way should be a player who blocks Polanco at shortstop and Gordon is too far down the road to even consider at this point. Escobar should be a utility IF. That's it. Still a useful piece, but not someone I, personally, think should be a regular starter. So, basically, I'm saying when it comes to starting jobs, Escobar is a non-factor

    For me, Escobar is a non-factor and we have no idea how Gordon will be in a few years. I wouldn't take either of them into consideration. Dozier, he should be putout there for trade bait as an established 2Ber so we can have the younger on base machine (Polanco) play 2B. He won't be, but should be. Polanco should be the everyday shortstop right now until Gordon forces him out (if Gordon is ever good enough for that to happen). Then he needs to be moved to 2B to replace Dozier.

    this team has gotten to the point where I expect us to win close games. If we're down by a couple runs I expect us to come back, and I'm not waiting for them to find a way to lose the game. This is fun baseball right now. And MAN, Polanco and Kepler need to be permanent fixtures in the lineup.

    they are shooting for a loss record that DOESN'T start with 9. And it could happen. They could get to 73 or more wins.
