    I doubt our team strikes fear in any of the teams that will be with us in the playoffs.

    From the how it's helped the Angels standpoint, I'm trying to understand the reasoning. He's been awesome with the Angels and has undoubtedly helped win games they would have otherwise lost. But yeah, probably good for us that JD Martinez, Verlander, and Upton are gone from Tigers.

    Angels have 11 games left to gain 2 games on the Twins and the two teams don't face each other.

    The difference between playoffs in '87 and today. In '87, only 4 teams made the postseason. There was one best of seven before making the W Series. No Wild Card much less a 2nd wild card. Today, 10 teams make the playoffs. The 2nd wild card team needs to win one game on the road. Then play a five game series, again without home field advantage. Then win a best of seven series, again without home field advantage. Then if they do that, it's on to the W Series.

    Amongst the 20 catchers who have 350 or more PAs, Castro is 16th in fWAR. Amongst the 26 catchers who have 300 or more PAs, Castro is 19th in fWAR. Our pitching staff sits about a half run better (in ERA) than last year, so maybe that's all about Castro Or Berrios. Then again, team FIP is actually worse than last year...

    When/if Buxton does 6 consecutive seasons of Troutiness, I'll believe he's as good or better. What make Trout great is being completely awesome since his rookie year when he won ROY and finished 2nd in MVP. Consider what Trout had already done at the age Buxton is now. As much as I'd love to see Buxton become Trouty, I won't hold my breath.

    Can one rant about people over-reacting to small sample sizes and then turn around and say Buxton could be 2nd half AL MVP when he has only played 47 games and had 186 PAs? :-) Anyway, Lindor, Donaldson and of course Trout lead the way in the AL for the 2nd half. Buxton has been truly awesome since the break though. So has Rosario, Polanco and Mauer.

    Yankees have the 2nd best bullpen in baseball.

    Yeah, I'm sorry, Mauer has a better case. Only AL catcher to have a batting title and he did it not once, not twice, but three times. Mattingly never lead the league in BA/OBP/SLG% in the same year either.
