  1. Reminds me of how Hunter was never offered an extension/new contract until like August of his last season with us. That low ball offer did it's desired effect: Made some fans praise the FO efforts to keep him and turn on Hunter because he didn't sign with us. It was a nothing offer compared to the market. Add that to the fact he pushed for a new contract while the Twins did nothing to sign him before the last season made his choice the right one (for him not us).
  2. Exactly. And they came on strong the 2nd half. Putting the wild card label on them to diminish that reality doesn't really work.
  3. Too many want to discount the Indians 22 game streak, saying they aren't as good as they are because that won't happen again, but then won't take into account how they under-performed early in the year. It's like the people who discount Rockies hitters for inflated numbers (cause of the park they play in) and still slam Rockies pitchers for their number (not taking into account the park they pitch in) In the AL the Indians were easily 1st in pitching, 3rd in offense and 4th in defense. That kind of balance makes a team great. They were the only team in the AL in the top 4 in all three categories. Losing to a 91 win the Yankees in game five in a best of five series isn't proof that they aren't as good as their record says. It might be proof that things happen in short series and that playoffs don't really prove who the best team is.
  4. Last year Cleveland scored more runs than we did and had a better BA, OBP, SLG% and wRC+. And they have most of their players back. Their rotation was and still is way better than ours as is their relief core. Their defense was also better. Can we win the division? Sure, cause this is sports; however, most of the time, 162 game schedules tell us the story if who the best teams are.
  5. he can be way better than Cutch. How bout Eric Davis? A truly awesome player with HOF talent but couldn't stop getting hurt. So maybe Eric Davis minus the DL stints ;-) Maybe the next Jim Edmonds. Who should be in the HOF but instead, for reasons passing understanding, got bounced right off the ballot after one shot.
  6. Just yesterday, I was asked to remove part of a post of mine. The ending part. I agreed with the moderator's reasoning for asking me to do it (even though the moderator agreed with what I said) and I did the edit. It was no big deal, and the moderator was very courteous. In fact, the first few private messages back and forth between the moderator and I didn't even discuss whether or not the post should be edited. Only after talking some did the moderator look at it again, then asked me to edit.
  7. Buxton's range is limited by circuitous routes? Sounds like one is describing Revere when he was here not so much Buxton. Buxton is already the best fielding CF in the game and every fielder takes a bad route on occasion. I shudder to think of how good his defense will be after more experience. Buton's range is limited by OF walls and him running into corner OF :-)
  8. it was meant to be a playful jab. Hope you took it that way. They were 7-7-2 after 16 games. Since then, they are 35-17-7. They have been awesome since their slow start.
  9. Is this team still cooked?
  10. His defense was less than impressive the few games I saw him play.
  11. Trout is a once in a generation player. He could very well be the best player who has played in many if not most of our lifetimes. He's certainly very much in the conversation. Let's let Buxton be Buxton and not put that kind of pressure on him.
  12. Buxton will be fine. He has all the tools and a good head on his shoulders. And even if he starts slow, his defense will still provide plenty of value. There are very few people on this team who concern me less than Buxton.
  13. yeah, I was one of those long term posters who had to leave due to the constant vileness. I can be critical, but my level of critical was child's play compared to how that site ended up.
  14. People had written off the Wild's playoff hopes after like 5 games or so. Way too early. Preseason isn't a time to worry about an offense that we have already seen be quite explosive when the games count.
  15. Not hard to believe. The MLB Twins forum got so bad that I stopped going there years ago.
  16. Funny, Twins Daily has had a few articles on this situation and made it well known she was affiliated with them.
  17. Wait a minute. Are you saying Papi juiced his whole career with Boston?
  18. Yeah, that had to stink. I'm not betting on Gibson being anything other than the kind of pitcher Gibson is. And that's not good.
  19. I just hope that on the 1st-3rd of June (at home VS Cleveland), the starters are Lynn, Odorizzi and Berrios. If Gibson pitches during one of those games, I'm going to be spending a lot of time grabbing beers at TF that game ;-)
  20. I totally wrote that wrong (and I'm guessing in context of the rest of my post some of you guessed that) I meant 50-60 hours a pay period (two week pay period) or 25-30 hours a week.
  21. yeah, my wife works between 50 and 60 hours a week. In the 16 years we have been together, she has only worked full time for five of those years and a couple years she worked from home. It's been helpful in the raising kids department, especially with all the deployments I had in the military.
  22. Between Rosario and Kepler, Kepler is the better defender. Stats back eye test.
  23. I think he's talented. I think he's a legit major league starting player. But one has to wonder how much he was helped by what he was taking?
  24. How long before the athletes figure out they need to have their team doctors giving them stuff and no one else? And if it HAS to be someone else, that the stuff is cleared by the team doctor before taking it?
