  1. That same article was on the ESPN main page a day or two ago in English and I posted many of the same quotes and provided the link Your translations were pretty good
  2. I would have been shocked if any of them said yes. Especially Buxton. I expect a very good year from him and his price tag will go way up. All of them should get better this year and make the offers bigger. But I'm also not of the belief we keep them all either.
  3. MLB.tv came in handy when I was stationed in Germany and Central America, as well as the times I was deployed to the desert.
  4. IMO, it's hard to not believe there are some people more critical of some players than others because of the color of their skin. Its hard to imagine that no one does that. I don't know if that happened during or after the game last night in regards to Rosario because I didn't see the game. Nor have I seen the plays in question. I do know I have seen and commented on plays by Rosario that seem boneheaded in the past because bad baseball decisions, as opposed to just errors, are more frustrating. MLBers should know fundamentals and when a player makes a fundamental mistake, those kind of plays usually get called out no matter who does them. Thing is. If one makes fundamental mistakes quite a bit more than others on a team, he is bound to be called out for it because it keeps happening. Punto is a good example of that. He was pounded on almost every Twins site I was on when he played. Now it's Rosario's turn until he cuts down on those
  5. Anyone see some Dilly Dilly shirts on some fans? :-)
  6. exactly, I always crack up when a player gets dogged for jogging to 1B after he hits a towering popup instead of sprinting. First, he likely reaches first anyway if it drops and two. Second, if he runs all out and it drops, he is probably hung up between 1st and 2nd and makes an out. Then people rag on him for making a bad baseball play. Third. It's an out 999 times out of a 1000 anyway.
  7. Fangrapghs gives us categories for WAR 0-1 WAR: scrub 1-2 WAR: role player 2-3 WAR: solid player 3-4 WAR: good player 4-5 WAR: all star 5-6 WAR: superstar 6+ WAR: MVP type. I am sure there is some wiggle room there, but it's a decent place to start a discussion when talking about where a player stands with a certain average WAR.
  8. I like watching Rosario, you never know what he might do. A lot of talent in a player who makes occasional boneheaded mistakes, but also makes so great plays. Players have flaws, even the very best ones. He isn't any different.
  9. fair enough, my issue was that it continued for quite some time. IMO with the amount of times it happened, he should have had enough warnings to be banned. In any event, this isn't about my situation, I was just explaining why sometimes those easily thrown around accusations can really tick some posters off.
  10. most of us tore into Punto whenever he slid at first. I always thought his supposed defensive greatness was overexagerated because I thought more talented players would make his supposed great plays with relative ease. Was never a fan of Punto other than the fact that I root for all Twins.
  11. I don't know Brock. I have been called a racist by one poster in TD multiple times because of one player on the Twins I didn't like. I gave many reasons but instead of accepting those reasins as to why I didn't like him or debating those issues, I was just called a racist. It was the easiest way to try and dismiss my viewpoint. And it was allowed. It gets old and it makes people leery of criticising anyone that isn't white because the label racist gets thrown around so easily, especially on the internet when people dont have to face the person they are accusing of being a racist. 49 years on this planet, the only time I have ever been accused of racism was on this site. And it was ridiculous allowed to happen over and over and the poster was allowed to stay.
  12. For me, the best pure comedy made was Cheers. If one considers MASH a comedy, maybe it is better. I don't consider MASH a straight comedy though.
  13. everything was better back in the day....
  14. I am hoping the debate wasn't centered around the idea that either was the best sitcom of all time, but rather just which was better between the two. I didn't like Seinfield myself, so it would be Friends for me. But Friends isn't close to the best Sitcom ever.
  15. Bonds was intentionally walked over 5% of his PAs and overall he got a base on balls over 20% of his PAs. Too bad his legacy is tainted.
  16. it's a vicious circle. It's a never ending circle. Just keeps going round and round. Never ends. That's what makes it vicious...and a circle.
  17. while I disagree with your belief on the amount of traveling fans that go to games, I agree with the overall idea that parks are built with the hometown fans in mind. And obviously that makes sense.it should be that way, though it certainly doesn't take the sting away from the money wasted when one does travel and the game isn't played. For me, personally, the Rockies are the closest MLB team and they are 8 hours away. The LA teams and the DBacks are 10 hours away. Target is a 20 HR drive without stops. I have to travel if I wanna see a MLB game.
  18. exactly. games won in April have the same importance and value as games won in September. The tension or the urgency may not be the same, but the value is.
  19. true. Like most things, the situation has to be taken into account. Cookie cutter approaches rarely work for all situations.
  20. Ohtani goes 3 for 4 with a HR and 3 RBI as a DH yesterday. Nice game for the new guy.
  21. teams should absolutely be working on this and trying to beat the shift by bunting. Not sure how well it will work because most people look absolutely ridiculous trying to bunt for a single, but a lot of times these excessive shifts are against power lefties and maybe teams deploying those shifts will take the trade-off of a bunt versus giving ng up more. Kind of like the manager who would rather walk Bonds even with bases loaded than let him swing away.
  22. That's pretty awesome. Wish a lot more players would do stuff like this.
  23. Anyway, I love TF. For me, it's one of the top 3 parks I have visited. I hope the games I see this June aren't rained or snowed out:-)
  24. I get that, but let's say you live near the ballpark and a game you have tickets for gets rained or snowed out. It gets rescheduled for a later date in the year. You can just go back then since you live there and see it. The travelling fans just spent the money to travel there and hotel room for nothing. I wish this was theoretical, but I only go to a few MLB games a year (if any depending in circumstances) and I almost always schedule the visits between June 1 and end of August. Yet I have only once had a visit for a series where at least one game wasn't cancelled and rescheduled to a later time if the year. It just stinks to have that happen. One time, I was only going to two games at Coors Field and both games were cancelled and rescheduled for like a month later. Money right down the toilet.
  25. sounds like your main problem with the retractable roof is how it is used. For those of us who have to travel quite a ways to go to games, and pay a lot to get there and stay in hotels, retractable roofs would be a huge money saver.
