Like the idea. However, Keashall being a guy like Taylor and Hernandez, seems like the type of guy a successful big league team would like to have around for the next three quarters of a decade. Especially considering the success the Dodgers have had with guys like---Taylor and Hernandez. Maybe Duran or Jax. The Dodgers haven't won a World Series with a key bullpen piece from us in, like, days.

Emmanuel Rodriguez Is Coming In Hot
dxpavelka replied to Nick Nelson's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
I think the Larnach comp is to the rest of his seasons. Doubt he has much trade value. As far as Max goes, I'm sure he's gone. Less sure we won't regret it. -

Minnesota Twins Arbitration Dilemma: Jhoan Durán

If he was a starter would this even be a conversation? -
Hard to believe Rodriguez is only 21. Seems like he's been around forever and even starting to flame out in the minds of some fans. Bright future. That being said, lets' look at what inevitably happens with list like these. 1 guy meets and maybe even exceeds expectations. Multiple time All-Star. Maybe even an all-time great. 1 guy becomes a big league regular but nothing super special. A JAG. Just a guy. And one guy busts. A Kirilloff. Regardless, all three will be fun to watch over then next half decade to (hopefully) decade and a half.

The overlooked thing about the Correa deal is that if it becomes a reasonable option to lock in years 7-10 of that deal at a total of $85 million that's a STEAL. Especially at market prices that will exist 4 years from now. And if it's not a steal, or the market takes an unexpected turn, walk away at no cost.

Probably not too soon to move Duran. Cuz the day he hits free agency, he gone.

Moneyball: Recreating Willi Castro in the Aggregate
dxpavelka replied to Matthew Lenz's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Now convince me that the guys the Twins have run out to left field the last four years have been better OR contributed to playoff success. Or even getting to the playoffs. And YES he WAS instrumental in a World Championship run. -
Moneyball: Recreating Willi Castro in the Aggregate
dxpavelka replied to Matthew Lenz's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
His career post-season OPS is .865. We've made the post-season ONCE in four seasons since he left. We've faded epically down the stretch on more than one occasion. Neither of the former 1st round draft picks whose imminent rise to stardom was a big part of the reason we felt compelled to not pay him has managed to put together a single season with an OPS of .800. They have combined to average 68 games played per season But, sure, things have worked out well. -

Just got my "Get Off My Lawn Badge" Old enough to remember when ZERO Twins fans would NOT be incensed at the thought of NOT bringing a guy back over $7 million. Couldn't believe it when we let Rosario go over $8 million. We've never really replaced his production "in the aggregate." We'll miss Castro's production and probably even Kepler's. (Yeah, I said it) -
The Twins Have a First Base Problem
dxpavelka replied to Greggory Masterson's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
I didn't say it did. Was merely responding to you responding to someone else saying something about guys debuting at 27 by saying he was only 26 and I pointed out that by the time he debuted he would probably be 27. Actually there IS empirical evidence about players who debut older don't last as long in the big leagues. But yes, I believe that if he's the best guy for the position in the Spring, he should be the starter. However, I would expect that to be highly unlikely. Truth be told I'm not sure that top 5 in strikeouts in Texas League fits as "impressive."- 85 replies

McCusker might be 26 but IF he hits the bigs it probably won't be until after he turns 27.- 85 replies

The Twins Have a First Base Problem
dxpavelka replied to Greggory Masterson's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
I don't often admit that I'm wrong. (I'm not often wrong) But in mid-May when Solano had 5 RBI I laid into the team for signing him. But from almost that immediate moment until the end of the season he carried them and they don't even sniff the playoffs without him. Felt like Santana was going to do the same this year. He faltered (offensively) down the stretch. We'll miss his defense next year. And Kepler's. Built in excuses for next year. We'll get some ******** (from fans as well as the team) about not being able to justify paying for that defense but then hear excuses about not having it.- 85 replies

Careful. If you make it sound like you think the Twins might in any way miss Kepler a whole lot of folks on this site are gonna have their heads fall off. Hope you're ready to be the reason for that.

The Twins Have a First Base Problem
dxpavelka replied to Greggory Masterson's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
I fear that when I used the phrase "most entertaining Twins hitter in a decade" you thought I meant Arraez. Partially my fault since I misspoke. I should have said generation not decade. Trust me Arraez, while a very good hitter, is NOT the Twins 1B that you had to stop whatever you were doing whenever he went to the plate just to make sure you didn't miss something.- 85 replies

Correa, Lewis & Lee. If you're not going to commit to one of them at each of 2B, 3B & SS you might as well move one to 1B.- 85 replies
