  1. WAIT a minute. NOW you're trying to tell me that whoever buys the team is NOT going to come in and outspend the Dodgers? Stop.
  2. If you understood this from the very beginning you were probably one of less than a dozen on here.
  3. They never said they were going to sell the team. What was said was that they were going to explore the possibility of selling the team. Rube nation is, and has been, WAY out over their skis on this one.
  4. But is Miranda good enough to be a key cog in a championship contender? I haven't seen it. I can't give him a full-time job based on what I've seen. Sorry. Can't do it. Will he be given opportunity? Sure. What will he do with it?
  5. what is this "bunting" you speak of sir Rodney?
  6. Wouldn't be the first guy to struggle at other positions and find himself defensively at 1B. Miranda could do the same but we haven't seen anything to give us much confidence that will happen. At the end of the day the best guy will play more.
  7. Zips might not project arrivals but that doesn't mean the article can't.
  8. The comp was in reference to someone comping Miranda to Koskie at a similar age. You can slice it anyway you want but Miranda comps a helluva lot closer to Parmalee than to Koskie.
  9. Wow. That's my line. Except I use a quarter. "That and a quarter will get you a cup of coffee. Not the good kind but the crappy kind you get for a quarter." Maybe I'm just old. But, yeah I was expecting some arrival date and stat projections. You know, to get us excited for what might be coming.
  10. After 3 years in the big leagues Koskie had a 11.8 WAR. AND he was a plus defender. AND he was a plus defender. Miranda 3 years in has a 2.3 WAR and may never be an average defender.
  11. He had half a season to distinguish himself as par at 1B and failed to do so. He's Chjris Parmalee at best. That ain't much.
  12. Generally speaking I think teams build their offense and then, when having done so, they uncover whatever defensive weaknesses they believe may keep them from competing and then try to fill those without giving up the offensive gains they have made. Key word TRY.
  13. So I understand, you're good with sub-par at 1B this year AND next year.......
  14. Obviously he deserves first shot and obviously he needs to seize the opportunity. Sometimes these things pretty much write themselves.
  15. OR maybe it'll be just fine and somebody's looking for clicks. We'll find out. That's why they play the games.
  16. Johan Santana's and Shane Macks are rare. Pull up "Rule 5 Draft Results" on Wikipedia. Few stick around.
  17. MIGHT be a bit premature to say that a guy with less than a thousand plate appearances above A ball is at the make or break point. Just sayin
  18. MIGHT be overthinking just bit. Pretty sure my grandma could play RF. If she were alive.
  19. Miranda's had a multi year head start. He's done nothing with it.
  20. Actually if this guys does anything close to what Solano & Santana have done the last two years I'll be ecstatic. If there'd been indication that Miranda might have done that, we wouldn't be here. Same goes for the last two years.
  21. Nowhere did I say anyone is signing him to be a starter. You ASSUME he would have flunked out as a starter for 1-3 seasons. Do you really think HE feels that way? And I never said he IS mad or that he wants out. Nor did I say there is any EVIDENCE that he wants to get away from here. What I HAVE said, and will continue to say is that when the opportunity to do so comes, he WILL leave. So go ahead. File this away. And when you are able to PROVE me wrong, do so. But I don't think I will be. He'll never sign a contract here when he has free agency as an option. Write that down.
  22. And sometimes a manager has to trust his pitcher and at least give a guy a chance to go thru that third time. The top guys did it for a hundred years. No reason to believe that some can't do it now.
