  1. If Rosario isn't careful, Granite is going to take his spot. Also, I love that we have three legitimate shortstop prospects (Vielma, Gordon, Palacios) all in full season ball. Imagine if Javier busts out this year.
  2. La Jolla is unbelievable. The shore walk is incredible.
  3. Robbie's OPS is now more than 100 points higher than any other Twin not named Sano.
  4. He can always do a double switch, depending on who's first due up, and who he has on the bench.
  5. Based on the results of this game thus far, I'm calling for an indefinite moratorium on Sano nickname suggestions.
  6. Santana is averaging 9 pitches an inning. That's pretty good.
  7. I'm an identity thief, and my next mark is one Derek Falvey. In all seriousness, a 27 year old with a .400 OBP and an .850 OPS feels like a nice piece to go in front of your franchise slugger, no?
  8. I would like to offer Robbie a 4 year, 50 million dollar contract, with a 5th year team option for 15. Anyone opposed?
  9. Thing is--Sano already has a nickname. It's Bocaton.
  10. If we're looking for a good-hitting 1B at 1:1, why wouldn't we just take the guy (McKay) who is the better hitter, and tell him he's getting drafted first overall so long as he agrees to give up pitching? While only striking out 9 times is impressive, the fact that Smith's OBP is 60 points lower than McKay's suggests a big reason for the lower number of strikeouts is that he makes more weak contact. Color me not interested. I don't care that Sano strikes out 35% of the time, because he gets on 40% of the time, and murders the ball when he does hit it.
  11. I'm completely fine with the Twins taking McKay in the first round. As long as its with pick 35 or 37.
  12. Please, Twins, don't take the "safe" pick. Please.
  13. Because they're very situation dependent. A triple is better than a single, but judging by RBI, a single with the bases loaded that scores two is better than a triple, or for that matter, a homer, that comes with the bases empty. RBI's should be used, but should be used in conjunction with some sort of rate stat that details how often a player gets to bat with runners on.
  14. Don't look now, but we might have a ball game here...
  15. Except that on Tuesday the 30th you need a 5th starter, so if you send Gibson down, that means you're going with Wilk or Tepesch. After yesterday, I hope they go with Wilk, but that's sort of depressing to think about.
  16. No one is ever going to hit 1.000, no matter how selective. It's about swinging at pitches you expect to hit .400 on, so you don't have to swing at ones you expect to hit .200 on.
  17. GIBSON'S ERA IS BACK UNDER 9!!!! LET'S CELEBRATE!!!
  18. I think Gibson is definitely pitching with a chip on his shoulder. Unfortunately, that makes it real tough to get proper arm action.
  19. On 2-0, every hitter, no matter the situation, should be looking for a specific pitch, and if they get it, they should absolutely swing.
  20. Fair enough. I withdraw my comment as a response to you, but leave it as brilliant beer league softball strategy.
  21. Do you try to be as negative as possible in everything you do, or just game thread posts?
  22. It's hard to catch it when they hit it over the fence.
