  1. does anyone know why I can't get the mlb.com gameday thing to work? Do I need to download a plug-in, or is there some other site I can go to to follow the game?
  2. And by average, of course you mean a guy who has put up WAR's of 8.7, 3.9 and 6.6 the past 3 years. Albert Pujol's last 3 years are 9.0, 7.5 and 5.1. Miguel Cabrera's last 3 years are 5.3, 6.3 and 7.3. I'm not saying Ben Zobrist is necessarily that good, but your assertion that Zobrist is "slightly better than average" is absolutely laughable.
  3. Because the solution to this team's problems is beaning people? I think you're a little too worked up over a spring game there, my friend.
  4. Is there any particular reason you're a Twins fan, since you seem to hate everything and everyone associated with the organization in any way?
  5. Willingham is a major upgrade over Cuddyer (in my humble opinion). If you look back at Cuddyer's stats, you'll notice the only years he could be called an above-average corner outfielder came in 2006, 2009 and 2011. Otherwise known as Contract Year, Option Year, and Contract Year. Excluding those three years, Cuddyer has never hit above .276, hot more than 16 homers, or had more than 81 RBI. His cumulative WAR for the 4 seasons (excluding the three mentioned above) where he played more than 100 games is 5.4, or an average of 1.35. I expect Cuddyer to be pedestrian this year and next, with one last hurrah in 2014.
  6. He'll get there. No sense in hastening his arbitration years when; A) He's never played in AAA The outfield is our strongest position group C) The Twins won't be competing for anything in all likelihood this year anyways
  7. Not necessarily. Even Nick Punto and Drew Butera managed to go yard back in 2010.
  8. What is a catcher doing trying to steal second?
  9. How much weight did he lose? Can I still call him Tugboat (see image below if you're not familiar with 1990's era WWF wrestlers) http://t3.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcSdIGkQCiM4XNI8EZ5OAontRAQLdFGjyp94BQj0liI9ZvMA1_rTEQ
  10. Twinswon1991, if Terry Ryan is so inept, how did he manage to build a team that dominated the AL Central for most of the 2000's, winning under 80 games exactly twice in the last 11 years?
  11. I say let Michael jump in with both feet. If he's not cutting it by the time E-Town is starting up, you can send him back there. My guess is he would do just fine in Beloit.
  12. Completely agree. Forcing infielders to play in on him should allow him to slap some more ground balls through the infield. Every last little bit of OBP is important for Ben.
  13. Alert the Common Man, we have a contender for the 2012 Preposterous Statement Tournament. Parmelee will be good, but Morneau was a good as it got at first base (outside of Albert Pujols) from 2006 to July 2010. He was a top three offensive AND defensive first baseman, and while Parmelee might eventually have a better overall career, that will only be because of Morneau's injuries.
  14. You seem to be under the misassumption that feelings don't matter, so let me pose a hypothetical to you. At your place of employment you have two bosses who alternate days. One is friendly, genuinely cares about you, and manages you as a person, and not just an employee. The other is bossy, doesn't seek your input, and is only interested in doign things his way, not matter what anyone else thinks. Which one of these bosses would you rather work for, and which one would get the best effort from you? Also, from a statistical standpoint, last year Span's UZR/150 in CF was 17.6. In the last 4 years, he's gone from -32.7 to -11.5 to 4.5 to that 17.6--in other words, he has vastly improved his defense over the past 4 years. Revere, meanwhile, was at 15.1 in CF for UZR/150 last year. Denard therefore, based on the extremely small sample size, is more valuable in center than Revere.
  15. I have no problem with Gardy getting tough with some players, so long as it is consistent applied to all players. If a guy can't handle some constructive criticism from the manager, it doesn't mean he's not a good person, it just means perhaps Major League Baseball is not the best career choice for that individual.
  16. In the situation I mentioned above, would the divisions look like this (as a note, this woudl require the abolition or adoption of the DH in both leagues)? AL East -Yankees -Red Sox -Blue Jays -Orioles AL North -Twins -White Sox -Tigers -Indians AL West -Rangers -Astros -D-Backs -Padres AL South -Rays -Marlins -Braves -Charlotte expansion team NL East -Mets -Phillies -Pirates -Nationals NL Central -Cubs -Cardinals -Brewers -Reds NL Northwest -Mariners -Rockies -Royals -Vegas expansion team NL West -Dodgers -Angels -Giants -A's
  17. The thing that's interesting to me, that no one is mentioning, is that in 2013, there will either be an interleague game or two teams not playing every day (15 teams in each league). Since no team will sit on Fri-Sun, that means there will be at least one interleague series every weekend, leading to even more unbalanced schedules. This only makes sense if MLB has plans to add two expansion franchises (Las Vegas? Portland? Charlotte?), go to 4 four team divisions per league, and have a 12 team playoff just like the NFl's. Incidentally, I think that instead of a 1 game playoff for the two wild cards, there should be a home and home, with the team scoring more runs in the two games advancing. The first game will only go 9 innings, and if both teams have scored the same number of runs after 18 innings, standard baseball extra innings rules go into effect (the wild card with the better record would get to choose if they want the first game at home, or the second).
  18. Odds are the Astros will make that decision for us.
