He's probably talking about Larnach, Rooker, Kirilloff, Gordon, Rortvedt and the revolving door of pitchers that didn't perform well in MLB and that we (fans) shouldn't pin our hopes on this years AAA players contributing a lot this season.

This team has several tradeable assets, however, most of them are also key pieces to this team competing in the future. Unless team options are picked up, Sano is a FA after 2022, Kepler and Donaldson after 2023 and Polanco after 2024 (he has a vesting option for 2023). In addition, Rogers and Duffey are FA after 2022 and Maeda and Garver are FA after 2023. That's a lot of positions to fill. Some (most?) will be filled from within, so that takes Kirilloff, Larnach, Lewis, Miranda, Martin, Jeffers and most any pitcher off of the "tradeable asset" list, unless included in a package to fill a need long-term. If the universal DH gets voted in, Sano and Donaldson become tradeable, but most teams will choose Sano because of age, contract and upside. If Kirilloff and Larnach prove they can play, Kepler and Sano become tradeable. Miranda and Martin may prove to be good UT types, making Arraez available. If Rortvedt shows he can hit, then Jeffers, and to a lesser extent, Garver, become available. Rogers and Duffey may best be used in trades to bring in more prospects. Donaldson either performs like last season, almost earning his contract, or doesn't and is DFA'd (think Pujols). I would hope a combination of 3B, DH and an occasional game at 1B could keep him on the field for 135 games or so. Miranda and/or Martin could make Polanco available, but I like him for 3 more season at 2B. Unlike some teams, the Twins don't have much margin for error, the prospects need to pan out or the the reset button needs to be hit. Falvey and Levine's kids need to show that they are ready to be prime time players.

1, Pace of play - in addition to the pitch clock (and I like the penalties), institute a baserunning clock. Let the player celebrate his HR, but make him run the bases in less than 25 seconds (I think the average is just over 22 seconds, but we all have seen 30-35 second HR trots). Also, no slow walks from the BP on pitching changes, these guys are professional athletes. Shorten time between innings, that last TV commercial can be shown on split screen. 2. Start night games at 6:30 or 7:00, not 6:40, 7:10 or 7:20. A "normal" game will be done by 10:00. I cannot get onboard with changing to electronic strike zones, just as many variables as (or more than) human umps, up to and including the system going off-line or being hacked. We have all watched games where the replay system was down, the bullpen phones weren't working, the scoreboard quit working, the tv and/or radio feed was down, etc... That and I like the human element part of the game, the players need to figure out the ump and adjust to him (though I guess they can't adjust to a shift).

I would assume these 3 were non-tendered because they would not agree to a low-ball salary and would rather go through arbitration. All 3 are replaceable, but there may be bumps in the road along the way...

Pretty sure if Larnach (who's not ready) and Kirilloff (who's penciled in at 1B by almost everyone) are in the OF opening day then Kepler has been traded for pitching help, not the Twins 4th OF.

I don't know, even with big production out of SS and 2B (you pick who's who), his production seems very light for a 3B. The glove does play though (Story and Correa are still available though...).

Semien just set the SS market bar quite high, 7/$175MM ($25MM AAV) for a guy who will be 2B in a couple seasons. Here's to hoping Lewis or Martin pans out after whoever the team signs as a stop-gap.

According to MLB Trade Rumors this years Super 2 status was set at 2 years 116 days, which makes Arraez and Minaya arbitration eligible and gives them an extra year of arbitration. This may affect team roster construction, free agent pursuit and tradability of each player. Thoughts? Concerns?

How about signing Galvis or Villar and let them play there until May 1, allowing. Lewis to start the season at AAA? This would also allow the team to include Arraez in a trade for staring pitching. If the team elects to go big, I'm in for Semien as he also has shown he can play other positions capably.

The Gold Glove Award lost luster for me when Rafael Palmeiro won it 1999 and played a total of 28 games a 1B. Also, Jeter winning all those years when he clearly wasn't the best SS in the AL.

If Taylor gets $12-14M per year from anybody he will jump all over that deal. Hernandez got $14M over 2 years, $7M AAV.
