  1. The AL is weaker than I thought so this is a playoff team - which is what we should have demanded anyway. I don't think we're going to make much noise in the playoffs but making the playoffs is much better than not making the playoffs.
  2. Too early to tell. I don't think this staff finishes with a 115 ERA+ but it does look like they are a lot better than what I feared would happen. Let's enjoy this.
  3. He's looked really good. Not sure what his longterm role will be but good to see him stepping up when given the chance.
  4. Yep, the AL is a dumpster fire. It's still early so things will change but if the Twins just play .500 ball from here on they'll get 84 wins which is almost certainly enough to make the playoffs.
  5. Way too early to know that. The FO ****ed up a lot in the last few years so it's probably best to wait. We've been blessed with a really easy schedule although the AL is pretty bad overall. We might have a sub-.500 team make the playoffs again.
  6. Some good news for Dems. GOP lost a MI state seat in a district that went for Trump +16. Woman's rights and Ukraine were big parts of the race, the GOP nominee was horrific. Said that if his girls were being raped, he'd tell them to sit back and enjoy it. Election was day after the Dobbs leak. https://www.detroitnews.com/story/news/politics/2022/05/03/michigan-state-house-district-15-36-43-74-harris-regan-glanville-pepper-mekoski-republican-democrat/9618410002/
  7. I thought this was a .500 team. Right now, I'll say 90+. It's hard to look at this team the last few weeks and not think they are a playoff team. They were clearly better than the White Sox and the Rays. While beating up on Baltimore doesn't mean much, at least they are winning games they should. Right now the staff has a 121 ERA+. That's insane. And our relievers are pitching too much - the starters are in the bottom half of IP in baseball. So there is the potential for a serious pitching collapse. Offensively, the team's depth is getting tested early but Buxton is that good. Correa will come along. This is a good offense.
  8. The leaked draft of Alito's won't be the final version - I suspect some of the language will have to be softened, especially relating to other fundamental rights, but the Supreme Court seems ready to overturn Roe v. Wade. Bad decision for a number of reasons but the "logic", as currently written, would doom contraceptives, same-sex marriage, and even interracial marriage.
  9. Good luck to him. Very excited to see him play.
  10. Way too early to say this (remember how we all felt about Duffey his first dozen or so starts) but the pitching has easily exceeded my expectations, by a lot.
  11. Could Dean fall to us? I was willing to take him at 32 or 34.
  12. Yeah, not sure if the QB is happy but I always think of them as a Defense-first team anyway. Both feel like Raven-type players.
  13. Booth was a really good pick, glad they got him.
  14. All the logic and reasonableness on this forum is not right. I want to complain!!! Boo Green Bay!
  15. Yes, because it made Rodgers happy. I'd have rather we drafted that WR just to keep them from GB. Also, I hate GB more than I love the Vkings.
  16. I also hate that they helped Det and despise that they helped GB.
  17. It would be nice of them to use a few of them.
  18. Haven't seen the legal arguments that will clearly come up but if mlb can suspend a player for two years without appeal, as some have suggested, they need to fire their union negotiators.
  19. I'm sure you're right. But I'd be quite happy if they were able to trade both 3rds to get another top 2nd round pick and come out with two of Dean, Obajo, or Booth. I'm sure that's a waste of draft capital and I don't know enough to know I'm wrong. But that seems like a really strong draft to me, regardless of what happens after that.
  20. My ST prediction was that the offense would be fine, the pitching would not. I'll stick to that for now but the pitching has been a nice early surprise. If they keep pitching like that, they're a lock for the playoffs. But it's also worth remembering that they looked like world beaters against the White Sox and Tigers. Obviously, playing the central is a nice benefit to this team but it'll be interesting to see how they play outside the division. I'm not worried about Polanco, Sano, or Correa, they all will come around. If Buxton stays healthy, he'll win the MVP. Ryan keeps looking like he is a solid ML pitcher. I keep waiting for teams to adjust to him to see if he can adjust back but so far, he's been fantastic. I've always been a Bundy fan, so I thought he'd be good.
  21. I like that he's a sure tackler, I like his life story, I like that he went to Georgia. I think he also is a good fit with Smith getting old in the tooth (although Hamilton would have too). I think the trade wasn't great and I think we had some room to move up to grab a guy but Cine is a solid pick and we have the second pick tomorrow. So we will just have to wait. Who is everyone hoping for at 34? Obajo, Dean, Booth would all seem to be obvious picks.
  22. I'd be happy with Ojabo.
  23. Drop 20 spots in first and second round to get one extra 2nd rd pick?
