    I was hoping the Twins would draft a pitcher but it wasn't a great draft. Cavaco was flying up the draft boards so he wasn't a reach. But he's a toolsy guy who will take time. Far too early to condemn the pick and I think his draft spot can support a top 10 placement (although on the TT poll, i had him lower)

    Still thinking about ISRG but bought Exxon this morning for my IRA. Like the dividend and it's pretty low. It'll go lower though since I bought it. That's my MO. Here's an article on health care stocks that I was looking at. ISRG is recommended a few places that I've found.

    I really didn't like the loss of a draft pick - again. That's the second pick we've thrown away under Falvine. While the pick itself might not work out, it reduces our draft pool. I would much rather have gotten a prospect back or just kept the pick.

    For whatever it's worth, lots of Dodger's fans on trubluela think they should to the Maeta/Graterol swap and ignore the Red Sox.

    I really wan the FO to turn around and make a bigger trade somewhere else and get a pitcher better than Maeda.

    I mentioned this on TwinkieTown but I'd really like to see what Balazovic and Larnich could get back combined. I think both could be stars but neither will be ready this year. Could they bring back a cost-controlled starter that has over 3 years of control left that would fit in well with Berrios?

    It would be really interesting to find out if the Red Sox actually found something in the medicals or if it's just a response to the fan outrage. Boras and the Twins probably think the former. I'm not sure they can do it since each team has their own doctor and their own risk valuation but it would be nice if Boras filed a grievance against Boston and the commissioner actually looked into this.

    I think what he's suggesting is that the Sox are going to other teams and asking for prospect X for Maeda and then substitute that team into the trade and remove the Twins.

    Well if the rumors of Balazovic getting added are correct, you'll probably hate the Red Sox even more.

    I hope the twins don't give up more. Make other trades but don't make things better for Boston.

    I like Rooker. He'll get some time in the majors this year when Donaldson, Cruz or Sano go to the DL. With the new roster expansion to 26 players, I wonder if the Twins would risk having a thunder bat on the bench for a few pinch hit opportunities over the year and spot starts or go with a more flexible option. Obviously, you generally want young guys to get constant playing time over bench time but if A) you think he's more or less ML ready now and his future is closer to platoon bat/bench player anyway ... There are going to be a lot of games where the Twins start Astudillo or Adrianza and maybe even Jake Cave or Wade. Having a big pinch hit bat on the bench might be an interesting experiment for the team.

    I'm not worried at all. If the trade falls through, we get Graterol back. LA and Boston have things to lose. We'll be fine either way.

    More than three? No one would say Ryan and Radcliff ignored pitchers to focus on hitters and yet in 06 they took one pitcher, Tyler Roberston, in the third round and none until the 9th. The following year, they didn't draft a pitcher until the 5th round. Sean Johnson has had three drafts, I believe. Way too early to say he has a specific strategy in mind.

    While I'm still a bit neutral on our new FO, I think it's too early to look into draft strategy. First, they kept Deron Johnson around for a bit before replacing him with Sean Johnson so I think we need to see a few more drafts to see what philosophy or strategies they really are taking. My personal opinion is that they wanted to spread draft money around a bit more so they like quantity a bit over quality. In 2017 so that's why we got Lewis over McKay or Wright but also allowed us to get Enlow who was a first round talent. I believe they made a few other over value picks that draft but can't remember for sure. In 2018 I think they were thrilled to get Larnich fall to them - he was top 10 on fangraphs big board, IIRC. With him and Jeffers, the Twins saved nearly a million dollars which helped them go over on several players, including Cole Sands, Deshawn Keirsey and Charles Mack - our 4-6 round picks, all ranked in the 115-130 tier on pipeline's draft list. Hasn't really panned out yet but ... Last year we didn't see quite the extreme money saving happening but we saw it some - especially in relations to the two Auburn infielders, Will Holland and Julien but also for the Gonzaga pitcher and the UC Irvine pitcher. So other than spreading money around, I'm not sure they really have a philosophy of drafting hitters over pitchers. We just don't have a big enough sample size to actually make that statement. Also, the FO moved a position player to get Odorizzi. That was a solid trade.

    Yeah, TSN used to be huge. I remember reading Dave Kindred in TSN at the library as a kid.

    Sporting News gives the Twins an A- for the trade I haven't seen much other analysis yet about the trade for the Twins (plenty on the Dodgers and Red Sox) but if you do, maybe it makes sense to have it one spot instead of a 10+ page thread?

    I'm still a little surprised that the Twins aren't getting a small piece back from Boston. Think they should get a lottery ticket in the low minors. But, what the heck.

    I think the big thing about Maeda is how affordable he'll be the next few years. We have a lot of payroll issues so finding a solid big league pitcher at his price is probably a significant factor for the Twins FO.

    Man, I'm not sure I like this trade for the Twins. I know I hate it for LA and love it for the Red Sox.

    Thanks Mike. I got the WFC research on ISRG from my broker this morning - I'd attach it for you but have no idea how to do that. They have it overweight (which is a buy and an expectation of 10% or better growth over the next 12 months) and the research was written up on 1/27/20 so it's fresh. Not completely on board yet since there is no dividend and I love dividend stocks for my IRA but leaning towards making the purchase this week. Looking at a few pharmaceuticals as well.

    I just moved 6k into my IRA for 2020 and am kicking around selling ROKU. I'm not sure how strong it will remain over the next year. Has anyone heard of Intuitive Surgical, Inc.? I think that's my next purchase. Lastly, this is a nice article on why DRIP investing makes sense long-term.
