  1. I think you are right (although with my betting performance in the last year, that's probably the kiss of death). An adviser at Wells Fargo told that they expect some falls, some more buying opportunities, followed by more downs. They seemed pessimistic but they are also based in Florida.
  2. Man, I hope some of you are making money off this market. For the life of me, I can't figure this one out. I was sure the jobless numbers would kill the market but it's still rallying.
  3. I'm not sure Mauer is the most intelligent guy you could have picked. If you were going with 'eye' or something, I could get on board. It might depend on how you view him but the two views on Mauer seem to be that 1) he was the greatest Twin ever, don't criticize him or 2) he was a bum who wouldn't change his swing to tap into his power or even after opposing teams figured him out.
  4. I actually agree with him. I want a 162 games, too.
  5. i think a lot of the governors have been handling this pretty well. The federal response has been iffy. I'm really worried about Easter. Seems like a lot of people think it should be over by then and I'm not sure it will be. But - and I'm not sure they've expressed this well - a good number of people can't continue to do social isolation long-term so it would be nice if we don't **** it up this time. Unemployment filings will sky-rocket soon, if they haven't already done so.

  7. This made me laugh a lot
  8. For the life of me, I can't understand the "logic" behind the idea the economic damage from self isolating is worse than the virus. The statements by the Lt. Gov in Texas, by the President, by many on FOX news are dangerous and are going to get people killed and tank our economy anyway.
  9. Interesting idea. C - Mauer (easy choice for Twins fans) 1B - Big Hurt (too many great ones to choose one year. Maybe strike shortened 94?) 2B - Knobby 1996 (off the field, not a good person but he really was on a HOF path for a bit) SS - Jeter (I'm sorry) 3B - Adrian Beltre LF - Bo Jackson (if you were 10 years old when this happened ...) CF - Puckett (my favorite player ever) RF - Ichiro (easiest non-Twins pick ever) DH - Thome Bench 1 - Kenny Lofton Bench 2 - Roberto Alomar Bench 3 - Justin Morneau Bench 4 - Torii Hunter SP1 - Johan Santana SP2 - Big Unit SP3 - Verlander SP4 - Doc Halladay SP5 - Radke Pen - Nathan, Mo, Quisenberry, Zumaya (that one year ...), Rob Dibble, Reardon
  10. I sold my stake in Shopify. Turned 5k into 42k. Appreciate the tip. I'm not allowed to make trades in my IRA account, very frustrating. But I'm not really a day trader so I haven't worried about it much. At this point, just hoarding cash.
  11. Looks like Mike's zoom purchases have worked out pretty well for him. Up 20 some percent since his purchase, I believe. Looks like today might the first day in six weeks with back to back positive numbers for the Dow and S&P.
  12. It's my fault. I bought a bit of Exxon when it hit its ten year low. I apologize to everyone. My opinion is that until the virus gets under control, the market won't be safe to invest in. Some stocks will ride this out better than others. I'll probably eventually make a fairly large buy in an index fund but not for a while.
  13. Traded Diggs for a bunch of draft choices. No idea who Cousins is going to throw the ball to now. Maybe we'll see a lot of 1 WR, 2 TE, FB, RB sets?
  14. Rough day. I was in court all morning so came out to see the disaster. Out of curiosity, what platform are you using to do your trades?
  15. Sorry my friend. I'm home with kids today. Watching MSNBC. They had a BOA bigwig on whose advice was essentially don't sell, don't buy, wait. He says it takes a few months for a bear market to get to where it's going although this one might get there quicker. Long view, we should be ok. Short view, could be tough for a bit.
  16. I hope you do. Our company just added a lot of zoom accounts.
  17. Mother******* Trading halted right after the bell. Stocks plummet 7% right away.
  18. Man, things continue to get bad - NBA cancelled, no flights to Europe (insanity), 1200 cases now. Tom Hanks infected. Stupid media.
  19. I tend to agree. i think we'll have a condensed season but we will see.
  20. I don't know where this market will end up. We have maybe 50k in cash right now but we're just holding until things get settled. I actually wish I had sold like Mike but at this point, I'm committed to riding it out on the holdings I have. But I'm not adding right now. The virus is not going away and it's huge disruption on daily life. What happens to the market if we're pulling the national guard out to quarantine Chicago, Minneapolis or St. Louis? The NYTimes report about Seattle was really bad. Major sporting events are going to be cancelled or played without fans. Local economies are going to be disrupted significantly. I'm sure there will be some yo-yoing but I'm not a smart enough trader to get on those. Yesterday I was feeling good about Disney - today it dropped 5%. I don't know were the bottom is but I don't think we've gotten there. We've just entered a bear market but we could easily lose another 20% or more.
  21. This is not a happy read about the failure of properly testing. https://www.nytimes.com/2020/03/10/us/coronavirus-testing-delays.html?action=click&module=Top%20Stories&pgtype=Homepage
  22. Let's see, where are we now? According to the Wall St Journal, the epidemic is up to 1000 cases in the US, although the real number will be much higher. NY has put up a containment area around a cluster area of 100+ cases. Testing in the US is still horrific. The virus is burning through Italy and Germany. Stocks crater on virus fears. Stupid media.
  23. Nice write up, Seth. I still have big hopes for those four hitters. I think all will make the majors.
  24. So today was even worse than I expected. Sold a few things at a loss although we'll get some tax incentives for that, I believe, over the next few years. Russia and Saudi Arabia's oil war is really bad for my portfolio.
