    Sounds like he may be a bit of possible steal at this point. I am no expert on potential for injury based on his delivery, if it is any more likely than any other delivery. However, he strikes guys out at high rates, so even if he becomes only a bullpen guy is that really a knock anymore?

    Sweep the tribe this week, and see what asking price for Hand will be. Then sign Kimbrel and that is a championship level pen.

    Kirilloff, is the top hitting prospect in system, but he is 1 year older and does not play major defensive position. Lewis will stay above him for the year, but if Lewis continues to struggle at high A, seems like he is breaking out a little bit as well, then going into next year Kirilloff may move up to number 1, if he rakes rest of year.

    Smeltzer looked good overall, I know Cane sure had no clue what was coming. He does not throw with velo expected these days, which could hurt him, but getting good movement and changing speed is more important. Does not matter if you throw 100, if it is straight and that is all you throw eventually someone will hit it. I agree the bullpen needs to be upgraded. The guys we have are working for now, but as season moves on, and games get more intense I am not sold on any of the guys we have to shut the door. It is nice to have the leads we have to not have those nail biting end of games, we had one on Monday and see how that ended up. I am not saying sign Kimbrel to 5 year 100M deal, but look for some possible trades most likely.

    I agree it is too early to count on post-season even, let alone talking about an all time great team. They are performing well ahead of expectations. That being said, the fact that the line up is so balanced and putting up runs I do not see long time slumps that can crush teams. Each player, except for Polonco has had some stretch of bad hitting, but unless most of them have slump at same time I expect they will stay away from long losing streaks. The fact they still have plenty of games against Royals, Sox, and Tigers, I expect plenty of wins. If Cleveland does not see turn around soon, they may sell off a few of their pitchers, they were not adding to team in off season I do not expect big moves to make them better, so they will have to improve internally first, and Twins will have to falter.

    Is there any change in Stewart in terms of new pitch, increased velo, anything like that? He seems to be pitching better this year, than in recent years. Not expecting he will ever live up to his high draft number, but hey if he can fall into serviceable number 5 for a few years, or get flipped in a trade, unless Tampa comes asking never give Tampa who they ask for, I will be happy. If I was a front office, I would reach out ask for any player and ask who they would want, then tell them no deal and look into who they wanted and see what you may be missing.

    The front office sure knows how to work the IL, and roster movement. Next year this will not be as easy when they go back to 15 day IL and believe I read longer stints at AAA when sent down, may be wrong about second part, but know 15 day IL is back. To me they know how to work the rules in their favor. Here is to hoping Smeltzer can shut down the brew crew, split the series and head down to Tampa on a good note.

    This next week will be a huge test for Twins and where they are really sitting, and if they will be running away with division or not. Two against brew crew, an above .500 team, four against Rays, the team we are trying to emulate and another playoff contending team, and finally three against closest competitor for division. Seven on the road too. If we have a winning record on that stretch, in particular winning the series against Cleveland, we can make Cleveland strongly think about selling. I still think we will win division with way we are playing and way Cleveland is playing, but if we can get such a big lead that all four in the division sell off and let us get a ton of easy wins to get home field in playoffs would be nice. I do feel at least one more big time bullpen arm is needed, and would love mad bum for playoffs, being he has proven he knows how to win in playoffs. So far this year we have handled our own against top teams so not like we just picking on weak teams, but this next week will be against possible playoff teams, lets show up and keep on keeping on.

    He is showing his second half a couple years ago was no fluke. His signing was a huge deal for Twins moving forward. In terms of looking at defense for SS the old book is out the window with new shifting being done. Range for SS will be so overrated now because the need to range way up middle or deep in the hole will not be as needed. This is because players are playing up the middle and leaving the other side wide open for many hitters. This decreases need for huge range. As long as you can make routine plays lack of range, compared to other past super star defensive SS are not needed. If he can keep up the offense, he should be considered for MVP.

    I enjoy fact that, at current time, our biggest complaint is that our number 5 starter is not pitching as well as we want. It is fun to be a MN fan and always expect the good things to come to an end and everything will turn and by end trade deadline we are selling off all our pieces. Those same people that say during this time of season, just wait they will go back to being the Twins we know. Those people that do not even watch the games just hear about them. Those people will be yelling and screaming about how good they are come August and September and start asking who is going to the game tonight. Happened every year during their last good run.

    In terms of Keith Law report, I recall he said Berrios would not be much of a pitcher at MLB level either. It is always hard to project players, so much of it comes down to their ability to adjust to competition. Some guys just never adjust and try their same old tricks and eventually get rocked, only to go back to same pitches.

    At this point it is hard to say much is a "weakness" but to me it is more what is biggest question of success moving forward. Offense I am not too worried about, they have shown this is not just a hot start and different guys had picked it up through out the season. It is possible adjustments to their aggressive approach will be made and they could struggle, but not too worried. Starting staff there are huge questions going forward this season, as there were coming into season. It is great what Perez and Odo have been doing, but compared to rest of career it is was off line. Does this happen for some pitchers to have break out years, in particular when learn a new pitch like Perez, yes, but will it sustain? That is big question. Bullpen, is very similar to starting staff question. Back end of Parker and Rodgers their success is not all that surprising, nor May. The rest though that have performed well so far is surprising and they could start falling off at any time and then the real question is what will team do? Will they bring in other guys, put more innings on top end guys, or just hope the guys work through it? I think the Starters are biggest question, because two guys are working much better than expected and above career marks, over several seasons of career. I think if they start to falter it was have domino effect on bullpen and no matter how strong offense is, it is always hard for offense to carry a team over full season and in playoffs.

    It is wayyyyyy to early to call Rocco a good or a bad manager. Yes, his team is winning and guys that did not perform well last year are preforming better this year, but is that all Rocco, most likely not. So far I am a fan, and like what I have seen, how can you not. However, I am not going to say he is best manager around simply because we are winning. Gardy won plenty in regular season, but when you look at his in game calls he was really bad manager, in my opinion. The track record for Rocco is just not there to make a call yet.

    It is nice to hear some good numbers from non top prospects, or on the lists. Of course we want big numbers from them too, but when guys not on radar are doing something good, to me, it means the changes to the system and staffs are paying off. What I like best from the changes is the front office did not just let Rocco hire his long time friends, like Gardy did. The coaches are earning their jobs, not just know a guy. To me, that means we are trying to get the best coaches at every position, and there is no required loyalty if they are not working.

    I am so sick of the unwritten rule crap. Lewis was just having some fun, that is what is is about. If you don't want him to do things like that as opposing team, just get him out. Best way to shut someone up is to beat them. Why do you think baseball is losing interest in the younger people, because when someone shows an ounce of excitement in the game, other than walk-off hits, the other teams throws at someone and the benches clear. Screw, act like you did it before, act like you may never do it again regardless you did it before. Toss those bats, do your dance, or whatever makes the game fun for you.

    It is interesting to see how new front office moves players up much faster than old front office. Any player that was having success early in season the old guys would wait until mid-season to try to get post season birth, but new guys feel moving players up faster is better. I agree with new approach, move players up faster to challenge them at high levels, then let them work over low levels and think they have it all figured out. Old guys felt moving a player too fast would hurt their confidence. That is nonsense, if failure will hurt their confidence and they will not learn from failure, then why have that player, because base baseball is mostly failing. It is nice to think that as long as players are improving and moving up system it does not matter how successful the lower levels are. It really is about how the major league team is doing.

    I loved when he had to ask Gardy why fans were boooing him when he was playing well, only to be told they were saying LEWWWW. I love that he is still playing, just shows he wants to play baseball as long as his body will let him. If it makes him happy good for him.

    To the people that think the article is claiming Polonco will be as good as Carew for his career, you missed the point of the article. The point is that it was showing he is putting up similar numbers, which is true. Many players at Polonco's age put up big numbers that never get sustained like Carew did. I find it interesting when anyone points out numbers are similar, or state best numbers since player X, that people draw the conclusion people are comparing those two players. Take the article as it is, a showing that Polonco is putting up some nice numbers that if he can repeat several times over he will be knocking on HOF door, but no where in article was it suggesting he is at that point.

    It is nice to see Jax get to play ball full time and preform. He may be a dark horse for good rotation arm. He has never been fully committed to baseball until this year.

    The big question, for me, is will teams adjust to his new pitch and his performances will drop off some. I expect there will be some adjustment and drop off, but hope it will not be as big of a drop off. Regardless ride his hot start as far as you can. I believe his velocity is also up, based on change in his stride from Wes Johnson. I could be wrong on that, but I thought I heard Perez was one pitcher he changed up the stride to get more velocity.

    I see no way they do this. They are still trying to build up his innings. I think it would be unlikely they would want to use him in bullpen down the stretch. I think it would take some injuries to other options to go down that path.

    When Sano comes back, if the Twins keep 13 pitchers Adrianza gets the boot. Adrianza is serviceable, but a huge drop off offensively and not that big of difference on defense. Gonzalez, if not playing somewhere else, will get late innings on defense most likely for Sano.

    Kirilloff has been raking again over his first week. I bet we see him get a lot of work at first, and if he can cut it defensively there, he will get a call this year. This is only if he keeps raking, and Cron continues to flounder where he is. Cron has been good defensively, from my eye test, but has been replacement level at best hitting. A few big hits but if Kirilloff can continue to show his bat is ready I think he will get a chance at some point and see what he does with it. This will also require potential injuries to others as well. I do not expect team to drop Cron with how he is playing at this point, he is still at least keeping on team.
