  1. Great question. I do not know. Clearly has to be earlier than 1992. Used to be in a 7 team division, too, so it may be quite a while ago. Divisons have been around since...1969?
  2. New quiz for today: What do you call someone who points out the obvious?
  3. To quote Ted Lasso, "Correctimundo, Dikembe Mutombo"
  4. Repeat of earlier quiz from different thread: When was the last time the NYY finished a season below .500?
  5. Concur. Some here celebrate a Twins W with a Blizzard, but I much prefer a split...a BANANA split!! Pro tip: ****can the pineapple, sub in caramel
  6. CBU analysis: Given those two teams trajectories recently, I'm not sure who to pull for. Seriously
  7. Correct. 10 of 17 so far, including mine. Edit: No Gallo against a RHer?? Make that 11 of 17.
  8. Concur. And the vast majority are 1 inning outings. Only 7 times all season pitching back to back days, Only once 3 days in a row. They've been very careful NOT to overwork him.
  9. 1. I believe this article is about 2023. There are no free agent 1st basemen currently available, AFAIK. 2. Here's the list of 2024 free agent 1st basemen. Which of these should the Twins give 1st base to next year? https://www.spotrac.com/mlb/free-agents/1st-base/
  10. I pretty much guarantee people will converse with you or anyone on a game thread. Just jump in. With both feet.
  11. "(Martin) also doesn’t have power, and frankly, that may only help the Twins" Um, what? Lack of power isnt an asset in any context. It's a deficiency. Not necessarily a fatal deficiency, to be sure, but a deficiency nonetheless. If he were able to play a good CF and maintain a .380 OBP, with some genuine speed, he could overcome that lack of power and be a useful player. I'd take that over MAT. But it's really, really doubtful Martin could do that in MLB. Almost impossible with a sub .300 BA.
  12. Strong argument, but I'd go Polanco. He's just been more consistently above average at the plate, and plays infield rather than corner OF. Kepler does have roughly 300 more PAs.
  13. This article is just poorly thought out. It is in actuality an argument for Vazquez getting ABs over other 1st base options. Because that's the net effect. And frankly I'd rather have Solano or Gallo in the lineup over Vazquez.
  14. Yup, and It's been that way for weeks. One good slider, then two bad ones...either missing badly outside the zone, or missing badly IN the zone. Not commanding his fastball either, but the major issue is the slider.
  15. 14 catchers had 100 or more games last year. 120-ish games at catcher used to be the standard, and there's no reason it couldn't be today.
  16. I hope none of the people bemoaning the bullpen are the same people who were glad the FO sat on their hands while bullpen help was available. Don't blame Rocco for his options.
  17. That 2nd HR off Jax and the free run Winder/Vazquez handed Detroit both prove important. As did getting nothing of all those chances early
