    They should have been sellers. At the trade deadline, they had a lot of holes to fill, but were tied for the final wildcard spot and people got excited. Since August 3rd, four teams have passed them and one has moved up to tie them. Next up are one game with Philadelphia, three with Atlanta, three with San Diego, and then three against their 2026 Achilles Heal - the Athletics. The Twins will probably lose even more ground. Their last 38 games include 18 with teams that are ahead of them in the standings (plus the 10 games mentioned above). I always thought that buying this year was a fool's errand and , IMHO, I believe that I am right. I hope I'm wrong (but I really don't think I am).

    You must have had a long day, late night, or both. "Eric Orze and Julian Merryweather each had two outs in a scoreless inning" (four outs?) "Darren Bowen came on to get the final four outs in the fourth inning" (four outs again?) "Yassar Mercedes went 2-3 with a walk, his 19th stolen base, and his 34th stolen base" (what happened to stolen bases 20 through 33?) I'm sure it all made sense at the time.

    Two Vahn Lackey comments. First, on his triple, Clearwater's CF looked like Keaschall. And second, every caught stealing looks identical. Very fast to his feet; the exchange from glove to hand is even faster; his throw to second is a laser; and the arrival point is on the first base side of the base and no more than two feet off the ground. I think this highlighted throw was the furthest from the tag that I've seen.

    If the Twins had made that trade, they would be kicking themselves. Greene is now out for the season and 2027 is in doubt.

    I hope Keaschall didn't make any plans for a long winter vacation. He needs to spend most of the winter in Fort Myers learning how to play in the outfield. He reminds me of watching Canseco in his heydays.

    With the plethora of fancy new "advanced" metrics, one can always be found to support your point of view; usually by putting a + sign after or adding a lower case letter (or two) before another metric. I.E., OPS+ WRRR, wOBA, wRC+, ERA+, IR-A, or IR-A%. The best metric to me is DHGTSORN (Did He Get The Save Or Not). 🙂😉😜😁

    Someone needs to explain to Tait that when you hit the ball, you start running to first base. Standing in the batters box admiring your hit may cost you a game some day.

    No need to be condescending. Yes. I did read the paragraph. As a person who was employed for years as a book editor, my opinion was the your intent may not have matched the words you chose. You were saying that if they lose Jackson, the Twins have no one in the minors to call up. And then you said the Twins have no MLB depth in the minors. Personally, I thought your intention was not clear. There clearly is depth in the minors, just not someone you can call up right now. But you would only have to call up someone if Jeffers or Caratini got hurt. Then the Twins call up anyone they want to be the bench-sitting backup catcher. Hell, if my knees would let me, I could be the 13th player that sits on the end of the bench.

    your words were MLB depth in the minors. I guess you can take that two different ways. And if details matter, you have to write clearly what you mean. And I read earlier today that this season is not going to be (And I' to any book in the series. That could be good or bad. (And I have always thought that casting Tom Cruise as Reacher in the movie was worthy of a death sentence penalty.)

    So when you said that the Twins had "no depth" at catcher in the minor leagues, you just meant at AAA.

    The Twins minor league depth of catchers is the best it has been in a very long time.

    At this point in the season (the 15th is only four days away), why bother? The Twins might as well get another year of control.

    The highlights of the game for me were watching Keascall and then Martin playing balls off the right field wall (Keaschall) and left field wall (Martin). The leap by Keaschall was about ten feet short and looked very awkward. Martin's effort was almost as comical as he completely miscalculated where the ball going to go and then made several attempts to corral the ball as it merrilly rolled its way back towards the infield. Very amusing when the Twins are ahead 9-1. But both efforts would have been horrendous in a one-run game. (But they were funny.)

    Lackey was 1-5 as DH today.

    If the players he was assigned aren't good at playing defense, the original comment is true.

    According to the write up, Justin Mitrovich had a weird game. He pitched six shutout innings. But he also gave up two runs. But the Kernals still managed to shut out Peoria.

    The 15th of August is only six days away. He will be called up next weekend.

    I hate when they adhere to a plan whether it makes sense or not. Why not let him continue until he hits a pitch count limit?

    They've done it before. And sometimes for even fewer starts per week.

    After Culpepper soaks in the MLB atmosphere for a week, he'll be joined by Jenkins on the 16th. Let's see how these moves impact attendance for the rest of the season. I hope the Twins don't do something stupid like making them sit on the bench and observe how major leaguers behave. If you call them up, play them for the rest of the year.

    How does a player get "recalled" if he's never been "called"? Just wondering.

    Meanwhile, back to the game. I wish I would have kept track of how many hard-hit balls the Twins hit to straight away center field that had a chance to go over Isbel's head, but ended up being caught. It sure seemed like a lot of 400-foot outs.

    Instead of "space", should MLB.com have used either "money" or "bonus"?
