    These two articles were written five months ago. The only thing I got out of them was at the end of the second one. In the summary it said that the specifics of both proposals are not worth getting into because it will all change when negotiations actually begin.

    There will probably be at least three left-hand hitting outfielders (without Larnach) on the opening day roster. Those three (Jenkins, Rodriguez, and Roden) will make roughly $3M in total. Why keep another platoon left-handed OF who will make about $6.3M?

    The entire arbitration system needs to be either redone or removed. If the arbitration estimate is close, Lewis gets a 75% salary increase for being a 20% below average player. I wish there was a system like this where (and when) I used to work.

    There are a lot of comments above saying to just trade a player for something of value to your team. That's a great plan. Too bad other teams have to be involved in these trades. Why would a team give up someone of value to the Twins for someone perceived as not worth spending an arbitrary amount on (pun intended). Two teams (or more in a few cases) must reach an agreement on value given up versus value received. That's a difficult achievement to reach when discussing what are essentially Thanksgiving meal leftovers.

    Only 100 more "great moments" each year and the Twins might be a WS contender.

    I love the argument that a player shouldn't be relied upon because he hasn't played much. How in the heck can he prove that deserves your love and affection if you don't let him play. Or, just as bad, letting him play one game every three weeks and then say he lacks consistency.

    The guy had a very nice season, especially after moving to 3B. But the holy gods of Metrics World refuse to acknowledge what he did. "Metrics say"..... Barf. He won't be good because an algorithm (that may be totally wrong) says so. I prefer to watch him play. He looks like a decent ballplayer. And he's better than anyone else in the Twins system right now.

    My favorite homerun was the bases loaded, two out, walk off homerun. I don't remember the distance, swing speed, exit velocity, or launch angle. And, to be honest. I don't care if it cleared the batter's eye or just squeaked into the first row of seats just inside the foul pole. It was meaningful. Except for the Josh Bell homeruns, all the others were two out, no one on base, solo shots.

    You mean someone was specifically designated as the head of "roster development"? I thought the front office just drew names out of a hat.

    What is a minorly sport? I went to games at Nicolette Stadium in the 50's. It only cost $0.55 for a cheap seat. I guess times have changed.

    Trade Ryan and Lopez and use the money (plus extra) to sign Skubal and Graterol. Try to resign Jeffers but don't go overboard just to get him. I could live with a #9 hitting catcher with very good defensive skills. Any money left over could be used for extensions for young players. 2027 may be a shortened season, so I wouldn't be too worried about innings limits for some of the young guys (or even Graterol if he needs a longer spring training to recover from back surgery). Once the World Series is complete, qualifying offers either accepted or rejected, and the actual free agent list is complete, then we should look at the Twins bulging wallet and how we can spend it all.

    If you are trying to arrange the players to the "profile" of each position, then it becomes obvious that Lewis needs to be the backup to Caratini in 2027. If he can get through 2027, Lackey may be ready to take over the catching duties.

    I think you may be confusing the value of each trade with the stupidity of thinking that the Twins were a playoff-bound team. Looking at each trade as a standalone entity, they aren't that bad (as Sam pointed out). The value lost by not trading Jeffers, Ryan, Larnach, and Bell (if anyone wanted them) is the what makes the trades look bad.

    So the Twins are using the last few games to evaluate players? They should have been sellers at the trade deadline and used the last few months to evaluate players. And this isn't 20/20 hindsight. I was advocating for being sellers from the first of July.
