  1. Beckham would not be on the roster if Buxton, Kirilloff, Larnach, Garlick, Lewis and possibly Sano were not all injured. I also agree to give Palacios the shot over him at this point if it works in the lineup.
  2. While this is true, it was players hitting under .200 (Muncy and Gallo) who really hurt the Twins last night.
  3. Not that I want him to be injured, but the way Balazovic has pitched this season, I am kind of hoping that he is... Also - what is the latest on Martin. When his injury first happened it was reported as not too serious, but he has been out 6+ weeks...
  4. Sorry see Duffey go, but it was time. Was hopeful that Duffey had reignited some magic when we went on a stretch of 13 games from June 17 to July 26 where he did not give up a run. He did have a good run with the Twins, and I wish him the best in his future endeavors.
  5. If Balazovic is healthy, his struggles are VERY discouraging. If he is not, shame on the organization for continuing to trot him out there every 5 days so he can throw 3 innings of BP.
  6. @Theo Tollefson - thanks for the detailed write-up. One correction - the "SP" line shows Gray threw 74 pitches. He threw 96. Gutsy performance by Gray keeping this Jays lineup off the board for 5 innings. Provus was talking up Pagan when he came into the game saying how strong he was in July based on his K/9 rate. He did not talk about any other pitching stats. ? Come on, Corey, you can be a Homer and not be so Pollyanna. Here are Pagan's regular stats for the last 15 games. 2 wins, 3 loses. 7.11 ERA. 12.2 IP. 16 hits, 10 ER, 5 BB, 21K and 1.66 WHIP. Yes the K/9 is terrific but the rest of the stats are BRUTAL! I'm sure the advanced stats would say the same thing. Finally I sure hope Miranda is OK. Losing him for any period of time would be very unfortunate.
  7. @Seth Stohs or anyone - do we know when the draftees will begin playing for their minor league teams?
  8. That would have been nice but Maeda pitching every 5th day like he did in 2020 would have been AWESOME!
  9. Based on the headline of the article I was wondering how a bunch of young women of aristocratic/upper-class background helped the Twins win today.... ?? Nice to see the new guys paying immediate dividends. Hopefully this will continue.
  10. When I heard the starting OF for the game I thought I was listening to the Saints. Tough to win when 5 of your 6 top outfielders are not available. Tough outing for Jax and also some missed opportunities early to add a bunch of runs early.
  11. FINALLY!!!! Jake Cave has come back to Target Field!!! ?
  12. Surprised Cotton was DFA'd. I believe he was also earlier in the year. Maybe with all the player movement today across MLB, the Twins are hoping he goes unclaimed.
  13. I was thinking that the trade for Mahle adds additional pressure on Larnach, Kirilloff, Miranda, Lewis and Martin to get/stay healthy and be solid big league contributors. While it does, it is much harder to find top of the rotation starters than position players, so I'm good with the trades made today thus far.
  14. Any update on Martin's health? The injury when it occurred was not deemed "serious", but he has been out for a month. Balazovic needs to be shut down. He looks like he is throwing batting practice when he is on the mound.
  15. Maybe Wes also knew the wheels were be about to fall off the Twins pitching staff so he decided to take a better gig (perhaps before he got fired).
  16. And to think people on this board were upset when Arraez was taking away playing time from Sano earlier this season.
  17. There have been mentions of trading Correa. Keep in mind that he has a partial no-trade clause so that will limit where he could go. Going all-in at this deadline seems short sighted given this team is not currently constructed to win in the playoffs this year. If they can make some improvements without sacrificing the future, great. But that is indeed the trick, now isn't it...?
  18. The Dyson injury / failure was a kick to the gut for the team and the fans. If he would have been the reliever he was earlier in the season, *maybe* the Twins would have one at least one playoff game... ?
  19. Buxton is also likely in based on his hot streaks. The game has changed, that is for sure. Aside from some of Ozzie's appearances one would be hard pressed to find someone with a lower batting average playing in an all-star game. You hope for a game saving catch, I'll hope he doesn't get injured. ?
  20. I'm not sure how old you are, Mark, but Ozzie Smith made 15 all-star games mostly because of his defense. ?
  21. One other comment I'd like to make about Sunday's game is the White Sox played some strong defense. If that keeps up that is NOT good news for the rest of the division.
