  1. When you mentioned Bad Odor I thought the article was about Colon (cologne).
  2. Excellent summary Ted! One other thing the Twins did this off season is add these pieces without mortgaging the future both in terms of prospects traded and large $/length contracts.
  3. If we land Archer in a trade with the Rays, does that mean the Twins have 2 "archers" on the roster? (See Fernando R.'s "game over" motion).
  4. Here is the article that Rhett posted from the Twins home page. Nick Gordon is the headliner. https://www.mlb.com/twins/news/nick-gordon-leads-twins-non-roster-invitees/c-265960146 Three pitchers: Myles Jaye, Michael Kohn, and Jake Reed. Three catchers: Willians Astudillo, Brian Navarreto, and Bobby Wilson. Four infielders: Taylor Featherston, Nick Gordon, Gregorio Petit, and Brock Stassi. Three outfielders: Nick Buss, Ryan LaMarre, and LaMonte Wade Surprises? Disappointments?
  5. I fully understand this stat, but I wonder if it has the same meaning for all the hitters. I can imagine that Puckett and Vlad G.'s O-Swing% was very high, but that was part of their strength. Not saying any of the current Twins have the same ability, but to me Rosario is the closest. There have been times when he has burned opposing pitchers by successfully hitting close, but out of the zone pitches.
  6. Thanks for the thoughts Jamie. To me Mejia is a wildcard for 2018. I really hope he can step up and grab a rotation spot for two reason. 1) It gives the Twins a lefty starter. 2) It allows some of the young guys (Gonsalves, Romero, etc.) more (likely needed) time to develop in AAA. Come on Alalberto - grab this opportunity and run with it!
  7. Agreed - lets keep him as a starter! Go Fernando!
  8. Good news all around - especially if Gibson was also signed. I never like the arbitration battles as it can sour the relationship between players and management. According to BP/Cots, it looks like if you add the Arbitration guys and the additional salaries for 0-3 year players, it looks like the Twins are around $97M payroll wise. That makes me feel they have some additional room for free agents - I hope... http://legacy.baseballprospectus.com/compensation/cots/american-league/minnesota-twins
  9. I did not see this anywhere in the string, so I thought I would add that Sickels updated his Top 20 Twins Prospects for 2018. https://www.minorleagueball.com/2017/10/24/16537288/minnesota-twins-top-20-prospects-for-2018
  10. More upside to this than downside, IMO.
  11. Seth mentioned - "It's another creative move for the Twins brass, and it doesn't necessarily stop them from doing anything else." If that is *really* true, then I'm fine with this role of the dice.
  12. I stated a few days ago that the Twins chances of signing Ohtani were slim and none. Unfortunately I was right. At least he eliminated the Yankees and Red Sox also.
  13. In my opinion the Twins have two chances at landing Ohtani - slim and none. I hope I'm wrong...
  14. The Twins could resign Colon and then sign Darvish. Darvish would be a "spring chicken" compared to Big Chubby! In all seriousness, it will be interesting to see what the FO does...
  15. According to the Twins web site, Santiago elected free agency, similar to Gee, Colon and others.
  16. Any way the Twins could get out of Hughes and Park's contracts? That would certainly help.
  17. Seth - you are one of the reasons many of us follow Twins Daily. The insight you and other provide is terrific. Thank you!
  18. And that is a GREAT thing, and why this team had such a dramatic turnaround this season.
  19. Little Falls, MN native Mike Poepping. Played 14 games for the Twins in 1975 and hit a robust .135. Hard to understand why he was not back with the club in 1976.
  20. The mighty Tom Norton - pitched for the Twins in 1972. I'd include a picture of his baseball card, but he does not have one!
  21. Chuck Nieson - pitched all of 2 innings in the big leagues - for the Twins in 1964. I'd include a picture of his baseball card, but he does not have one!
  22. Bremer in general is pathetic. Thumbs up to Molitor for getting Perkins in one last time.
