  1. And there was MUCH rejoicing!
  2. "They have won 23 more games already this season than they did last year." This is what I'm totally blown away by this season...
  3. Rooker's raking makes me very happy...
  4. When the Twins drafted Buxton, I was hoping he'd turn into a player of Andrew McCutchen's caliber. Defensively it appears that he has exceeded that vision. Now that he has picked it up offensively, he is getting close to that caliber of player.
  5. I just looked at Kyle Gibson's basic stats from last year to this year. SEASON TEAM GP GS CG SHO IP H R ER HR BB SO W L SV HLD BLSV WAR WHIP ERA 2016 MIN 25 25 1 0 147.1 175 89 83 20 55 104 6 11 0 0 0 0.6 1.56 5.07 2017 MIN 27 27 0 0 147.1 170 87 83 21 58 109 11 10 0 0 0 0.4 1.55 5.07 How freaky similar are these seasons! Now this will change as Gibson gets a couple of more starts before the end of the season, but WOW! I know he has pitched better since July, but these stats over the next two season leave me *really* hoping that the FO is not relying on him for next season.
  6. Seeing Granite's diving catch and gritty defense reminded me of another fan favorite who used to wear #8 for the Twins.
  7. I feel Rooker's ETA is a bit aggressive, but would love it if he progresses that fast. I had a feeling the pick at SS would be a tough / "split" decision. With Gordon, Palacios, and now Lewis in the fold (and Polanco exceeding expectations on the MLB Club), the Twins should be solid at that position for years to come.
  8. The immortal Mike Pazik
  9. Jim Ollom - Hard to remember him or pronounce the town he was from - Snohomish, WA
  10. Russ Nixon (not to be confused with Otis).
  11. And Gregg (two g's) Olson
  12. I was longing for Josh Willingham to pinch hit last night, fondly remembering that bomb he hit off of Chapman several years ago in Cincinnati.
  13. Chris Speier. The Twins are surprising in the pennant race in 1984, and pick up Speier in a trade to boost there chances. If I remember correctly he did help initially, especially defensively, but then hurt his heal and was limited the rest of the season (played only 12 games with the team). The team faded from contention soon after. This "being in the race" was a primer for this team, however, as the core of this team went one to win the World Series in 1987. Perhaps history is repeating itself this year (an early/surprising flirt with contention followed by winning the big prize a few years later)? One can dream, correct?
  14. The immortal Mike Maksudian. Who could forget his 5 glorious games with the Twins back in 1993?
  15. Steve Lombardozzi
  16. Alex Wimmers. Too soon???
