  1. Has anyone mentioned Mark Funderburk yet??
  2. Dick Stigman - my Dad played against him growing up and had some success at the plate (or so he says).
  3. Adam Johnson - what a wonderful high first round draft pick!
  4. J.J Hardy - another wonderful trade!
  5. Matt Capps - what a trade!
  6. Thanks for the details Thrylos! I guess the thanks should have gone to Smith and Ryan. Both of whom were greatly grilled on this site (like my burgers and brats). I knew this post would stir some debate.
  7. As we celebrate Labor Day, I started thinking about the current Minnesota Twins Labor force. Who hired the majority of the Coaching staff? Who drafted, traded for or signed the majority of the current roster? It was, of course, Terry Ryan and his staff. Now Ryan has been grilled extensively on this site for the past several years, rightfully so. The teams performance on the field has been horrible the majority of the past half decade, to a point where it cost Ryan his job. I also want to point out that I'm fully aware that this current team has not won anything, yet. While this may be true, this team's play has shocked many this season. So as I prepare to BBQ my Labor Day brats and burgers, I tip my Chef's Hat (no - it does not say "Kiss the Cook" on it :-)) to Terry Ryan and his staff for their efforts to construct the majority of a team that has us Twins fans watching meaningful baseball in September this season, and also provided some real hope for seasons to come.
  8. Drock - I noticed that as well, but the skid has been bad the past 9 games. Since banging out 5 hits 10 games ago, Gordon is just 6 for 39 (a .154 average), and has is average down to .277. Perhaps he is wearing down a bit as the season winds down.
  9. Great to see Trevor Hildenberger getting higher leverage opportunities and succeeding. The Twins need him to be another solid option late in games.
  10. Didn't Melville write a book about a whale or something like that... :-)
  11. I agree. GREAT to hear that Jay was able to throw yesterday. How long before Moya's name starts to get added to those who might be able to help in the Twins' bullpen? Is his ETA 2018, 2019?
  12. What - no one has mentioned that Seth broke out of his update slump? Lets hope this turns into an update streak!
  13. I'm conflicted on letting Gee start in Mejia's place if needed. The Twins have needed, but have not had, a solid long reliever all season, and have finally found one! Gee has significantly saved the bullpen twice since he has been called up. There is much value in that in my opinion.
  14. Anyone have any idea as to Perkins' velocity yesterday? I'm assuming it is not good given his stat line.
  15. This game gives us a glimpse of what life might be like without Kintzler, and it is not pretty.
  16. Glad to see that Enns has already had TJ - a must, it seems, for Twins pitching prospects.
  17. I asked the same thing a few weeks back. Hopefully the Twins have an idea from Kintzler and his agent what his expectations are for next season. If they are outrageous, then the Twins should try and trade him rather than have him walk and get nothing in return.
  18. JHam - Yes, Gonsalves was a bit wild yesterday, and the 3 walks helped to inflate his WHIP to a whopping 1.00 for the season. We know what we have in Gibby, Hector, and Colon, and they should have no part of a contenting team. We don't fully know what we have in Gonsalves, but he is most likely part of the future. That is why people are anxious to see what he can do in AAA or the Bigs.
  19. Not one comment from anyone about Joe being back?? That speaks volumes...
