So many choices. So little time. I want Miranda to take a huge step forward this year. But where will he play? I think France will be our "Carlos Santana" this year, although he won't win a Glod Glove. Leave Lewis at 3B. The 3B-man of today must field like a SS and have a rifle for an arm. Lewis fits the bill. Miranda is below average, at best, at any fielding position. He is best suited for DH. Lee needs to play 2B due to his potential to be a good fielder there and he is a switch-hitter. He is just getting started as a major league hitter. It takes a while for 95% of the major leaguers to learn to hit at that level. C-4 is the anchor at SS. Julian needs to hit well somewhere and then the Twins need to trade him. Bader is solid in the OF. A great signing. Castro needs to be a utility player in the infield. I expect big years from Wallner and Larnach. I feel the Twins are going to play with chips on their shoulders because of the embarrassing late season swoon in 2024. They need to prove something in 2025. Buck, Correa, Jeffers are in line for big seasons. The pitching is the best I can ever remember the Twins having, especially the bullpen. Today I'm making my no-refund hotel reservations for Minneapolis in October.

Raya hit 3 Boston players. One of whom injured his hand and came out of the game.

I just retired 2 months ago after 52 years as a trial lawyer. It was a grind. But retirement is wonderful.

Third base coach, Tommy Watkins looked good diving to the ground to escape a screaming line drive foul aimed at Tommy's head. Royce Lewis looked good signing autographs long after all the other players had gone into the club-house. Lewis was smiling and chatting with each fan. He chatted with the 3rd base umpire, the 3rd base coach from Boston, and anyone who was within listening range. That is great PR, but that really is Royce being Royce. What a friendly guy. Also I saw a beautiful large Bard Owl at dusk at Six Mile Cyprus Slough, when it flew low right over my head, as it hooted at me. Plus 4 different alligators looked impressive as they swam lazily by in 3 separate ponds in the slough.

Ryan Fitzgerald made an incredible play Saturday at SS, diving to his right to field a sharply hit ball, get to his feet and throw a strike to first base to save a run , late in the game. He is a 30 year old AAA player who hustles and has a good arm. He hit 14 HR last year in AAA and hit for a decent average for a SS.

No surprises here. I felt so bad for Raya yesterday as I sat in the stands in Ft. Myers and watched his complete inability to get the baseball over the plate. He's not that bad, but I hope it will somehow turn into a positive learning experience for him.

Morales looked overmatched yesterday against the Braves. He struck out twice and did not look good. He redeemed himself today with a game tying HR. Played LF and 2B. Good trade bait.

Thank you Nick for this sentimental article. It was entertaining and informative. Thank you also for being willing to express yourself openly through your writing. I became a Washington Senators fan in the early 1950's, when we were visiting our grandparents in Washington, DC and my grandfather took my brother and me to see the Senators play the Tigers at old Griffith Stadium. The Senators lost. But we had so much fun. We got autographs from some of the Senators' players wives, who told us they had never been asked for autographs before. Mrs. Clint Courtney, Mrs. Chuck Stobbs. I was hooked. Living in North Carolina I had little access to the Senators/Twins information, stats, news, stories. I missed out on cheering for my favorite team with anyone else except my grandfather, who lived in Washington. He then moved to Statesville, NC to be near us and he continued getting the Washington Post and saved the sports sections for me. But then the Senators moved to Minnesota, my grandfather died and my information about the Twins was limited to the Sporting News. The Twins were not featured very often. And the Twins would only be on tv's Game of the Week about once a year. But then the internet came, mlb.com came and in 1986 I became friends with Twins prospect, Mark Davidson, then the best thing happened in my Twins' fandom experience (beside becoming friends with Mark)...I found Twins Daily. Your work and writing has brought me daily information about the Twins. Halleluiah. And this evening my wife and I will start our 11 hour drive to Ft. Myers for our annual week at the Twins spring training. Thank you Nick for all you do to bring much needed Twins' information and joy to my life.

I'll be there for the Braves, Red Sox and Phillies games. I'm also looking forward to practice Thursday morning and Salty Papa's Shrimp House several times. Gooooo Twins!

I would really enjoy attending this event. However, I am not arriving in Ft. Myers until March 6th and leaving March 12th. Can we schedule something maybe on a weekly basis at this brewing company for TD writers and contributors and beat writers who are in Ft. Myers. Maybe every Friday or any day certain on a weekly basis.? I imagine that most of us who attend spring training are there for a week or less. If we will do this, the first round is on me. Thanks David Benbow, Statesville, NC aka tarheeltwinsfan

I am not saying whether what is going on in our country's government is right or wrong in this post. I have my very strong opinions about it, but I understand that this site is not the site for that discussion. But what I am going to say is this: There is unprecedented governmental change going on in our country today. The future of investing, and, I dare say, our past way of governing ourselves, are at stake. If I were a wealthy investor, or in a wealthy investment group, I would take that into consideration in deciding where to invest my assets. Based on my University of North Carolina degrees in economics and law and 52 years of being a trial attorney, a sports team ownership would not be one of my top choices for an investment in this period of uncertainty in the United States.

I agree. Maybe his brother-in-law, Jason Kubel, is part owner of the Twins.

I understand what you are saying here as far as "what has the individual starting pitcher done for me lately". However, as far as the team is concerned, the Twins had better hit the ground running in April. I know, I know, as Gardy used to say, "It's a long season." I look at it differently. I contend that it is an extremely short season because the only game that truly matters it the next one, starting in St. Louis on Opening Day.
