  1. I don't understand the hesitation in making prospects into relief pitchers. It should not mean that they will always remain relief pitchers. Remember Johan Santana? The Twins have plenty of "starting pitchers". Many are "prospects". Prospects would be cheap, available, immediate solutions to the Twins having decimated its relief corps. Plus it allows the prospects to audition and to show what they can do in tense major league situations.
  2. Matt...The Ship of Theseus ? I had to look it up. Wow. What a great analogy for what the Twins have done the past month. You always provide an opportunity for me to learn something new in your fantastic writing. Thank you.
  3. Nick, I am very sorry to say this, but I feel the same way that you expressed in your article. My long, solitary morning walks and my daily workouts, have helped me cope.
  4. Dear Pohlad family: I hate to say this, but I have come to the conclusion that the Twins need to be torn down and start over. What the Twins have been doing, has not been working for many years. It all starts at the top. Thus, you owners are the problem. Your goal does not appear to be the same goal as we fans have, which is to win the World Series each and every year. Because if you had had that goal each year, then you have hired incompetent people to run this circus and/or to perform in this circus and/or have failed to provide the necessary funds to hire the correct circus acts. Either way you are to blame. If I were you, I would be humiliated, at best and embarrassed, at least. But maybe your goal is not the same as mine. Bottom line, you paid the money to take the risk, to buy the team and you are entitled to run a half-assed organization if you wish. But it is becoming more evident to me that it is not emotionally healthy for me to spend so much of my limited time left here on this beautiful earth watching this team on tv, going to spring training at Fort Myers every year and reading and posting these heart-felt, emotionally draining posts on Twins Daily. 70 years is a long time to have been a fan of this franchise, but as of today, I have had it. I must either change my goal of winning (which is hard for me to comprehend, much less to do), or change the team I have pulled for for 70 years. Most sincerely, Tarheel Twins Fan
  5. I like to walk along an old farm road near where I live in North Carolina. There are soy beans fields, hay fields and some woods. On my walks, I've encountered wild turkeys, deer, coyotes, red shoulder hawks, owls, turtles, snakes, mice, groundhogs, and numerous song birds. Today all I saw were several wooly worms scurrying across the road. The fluffy white clouds were beautiful against a "Carolina Blue" sky.
  6. Have fun at the game Chin. Drink a Killebrew Root Beer for me.
  7. I need to go for a long walk in the country. This is too depressing.
  8. Kalen needs to figure out how to adjust to whatever the AA pitchers have figured out about pitching to him. Can't do that by taking a break. Onward and upward.
  9. This is a discouraging article because it makes sense, given the Twins history the past 5-10 years. Far be it from me to tell other people how to spend their money. However, if I were the owner of the Twins and lived in Minnesota, I would be tired of my friends and acquaintances complaining to me about the Twins. I would either spend the money necessary to be successful, or sell the team. But that's just me. I care what other people think about me. I like to be around happy people, rather than hear constant complaints. I would spend the money to build a winning team, just for the joy and pride it would bring to my community. To put a spin on a famous baseball quote from the movie, "Field of Dreams", 'If you build it, they ( the pride and joy, plus the money) will come". I hate half-assed efforts in any endeavor.
  10. 2 quotes from "Gone with the Wind" seem appropriate to this Minnesota Twins fan: "I'll think of it tomorrow, at Tara. After all, tomorrow is another day." and "Frankly my dear, I don't give a damn!"
  11. I hope Raleigh/Durham or Charlotte gets an expansion team in the NL South, since I live in North Carolina.
  12. Winning teams, not just good coaches, begat successful young players. Which come first, the chicken or the egg?
  13. We're already writing a lot about prospects and draft positions 10 months from now.. It is still August. There is a game tonight. It's going to be a long winter.
  14. Does it have anything to do with his time in the big leagues? I don't know if keeping him in the minors helps the Twins in the long run financially. It sure looks like he is a better option than Adams and Ohl.
  15. I agree 100 per cent Matthew. Thanks for writing this article about the best SS to ever play for the Twins. Carlos is about winning. The Twins owners let him down. I wish Carlos nothing but the best.
  16. Fascinating article with outstanding stats and great videos to illustrate the article. Thank you, Peter. This is one of the best articles I have read on TD this year.
